It's good to be back. The grind of studying, writing, analyzing and playing daily fantasy sports every single day can wear out your mind and body. I took most of the past week off and filled my brain with everything NFL and fantasy football. But over the past couple of days I went through all of my lineups from June 6th until last Friday and tried to figure out why the results weren't up to my standards. Of all the trends that I found, the one that stood out the most is the amount of salary I had been spending on starting pitching. Its not just the price that bothered me but rather the return I have been getting. All of these lineups (37 to be exact) averaged just over a 2x return on the price that I paid. Considering we need 4-5x return to achieve the point totals we would like (based on FD scoring), this simply won't cut it.

So, I have adjusted my formula for starting pitching in order to accomodate what has become a severe lean toward hitting this season. Now that we are in the hot summer months, there is just no way that these huge power numbers that we are experiencing this season will go away. Value pitching is going to have to do because if you don't have the multi homerun bat in your lineup on any given night you are toast.

Surprisingly we have absolutely no weather concerns today other than in the day game between the Rangers and Cubs which we are ignoring for the purposes of the Playbook, Rankings and Optimal Lineups today. We'll concentrate all of our attention on the 14 game evening slate across all of the DFS sites this evening.

Here is the DFS MLB Playbook for Friday July 15th:
