Tonight’s Strategy

We have an awesome seven game slate tonight with some huge expected point totals. How high? Warriors-Thunder (227), Nuggets-Cavaliers (230), and Suns-Rockets (231). I know some people do not put a lot of stock into these, but when the next highest is only 213 (Bucks-Pacers), you take notice. My strategy is to attack these high O/U games sprinkling in some players from the others with possible lower ownership.

As always, all fantasy ppg numbers are FanDuel specific.

So, with a crappy two game, early only slate being faded, I bring you today’s Position Coach Article.

Point Guard

Russell Westbrook having the highest true usage rate at the position facing the Warriors tonight is hard to fade. Did I mention he is averaging over 63 fantasy ppg in his last four?

With the Nuggets allowing the second most fantasy ppg to the PG position, Kyrie Irving looks enticing tonight. I smell a 40-spot here.

George Hill is where I am looking for my first late bullet tonight. The Celtics are allowing the eighth most fantasy ppg to the one while he is well rested with a 40 fantasy point upside.

Hey Boo-Boo, you heard of Yogi Ferrell? Anyway, the Magic are allowing the third most fantasy ppg to the one while Yogi is averaging over 28 fantasy ppg in his last seven.

Jameer Nelson is still very cheap facing a Cleveland team allowing the fourth most fantasy ppg to the one. He dropped over 35 fantasy points last night and I expect him to repeat tonight.

Shooting Guard

James Harden is the one guy I will have in all my lineups tonight. In some I’ll pair him with Westbrook, in others, Kevin Durant. It’s that simple for me. No other SG can drop a 70-spot, and there is plenty of low priced players in good match-ups to take advantage of tonight.

Devin Booker as always is included. I told you yesterday he was usually a sure thing and tonight is no different in this shootout. He’s dropped 30-spots in eight of his last ten.

Will Barton is averaging 43 fantasy ppg on FD over his last three. Coming off the bench tonight he gets a great match-up playing either in the two, or the three. Expect another big night here.

Evan Fournier has the third highest true usage rate at the position and is great way to get off the chalk tonight, while getting a cheap player with 40 fantasy point upside.

Gary Harris as of late continues to produce, he’s averaging over 24 fantasy ppg in his last four, and is a great cheap filler in a pinch.

Kyle Korver is in a spot tonight to possibly put in some major minutes with the Cavs SG situation all banged up. Keep an eye out here.

Small Forward

Kevin Durant if spending is who I prefer to pair with Harden tonight in the bulk of my lineups. The Thunder are allowing the fourth most fantasy ppg to the three while Durant is overdue for one of them huge games.

Paul George gets a bump with Thaddeus Young beat up tonight facing a Milwaukee team allowing the sixth most fantasy ppg to the three.

Wilson Chandler is another great place to go again tonight facing the Cavs who are allowing the third most fantasy ppg to the SF position. He is also averaging over 35 fantasy ppg in his last three.

P.J. Tucker or T.J. Warren, take your pick. They are both basically the same price and produce similar numbers. Both are risky but benefit from a great match-up with Houston allowing the second most fantasy ppg to the three.

Andre Roberson is dirt cheap for player who is averaging nearly 30 fantasy ppg in his last three, just saying.

Power Forward

Nikola Jokic again, I know. If he keeps producing, I will keep inserting. He dropped a 60-spot last night.

Dirk Nowitzki has stepped it up and gets a positive match-up tonight facing Orlando. He’s averaging over 35 fantasy ppg in his last two and I see no reason he does not continue that trend coming off a day off.

Ersan Ilyasova is about the only Sixer besides Jahlil Okafor I would be willing to take a chance on tonight. On a good night, you can easily get a 35-spot here. More for GPPs.

Derrick Favors for his price is one of my favorites lately. He gets a great match-up tonight versus the Celtics. What’s that I always say?

“Attack the Celtics frontcourt!”

With Tyson Chandler, more-than-likely out tonight, Alex Len should draw the start at center able to play heavy minutes for peanuts. The Rockets are also allowing the third most fantasy ppg to the C position.

Center

Hassan Whiteside is the only center to pay up for and many will with the Sixers allowing the most fantasy ppg to the position.

Steven Adams gets a positive match-up tonight versus the Rockets and is averaging over 30 fantasy ppg in his last four.

Clint Capela is the player I am currently using in my main FD lineup. The Suns are allowing the fourth most fantasy ppg to the center position while Capela is averaging over 30 fantasy ppg in his last four.

In a pinch, if you like risk, Jahlil Okafor at some point must drop a 30-spot…right?
