What a great day to have the pitching coach land in my hands. We've got great options at every pricing tier on tonights slate and I fully plan on taking advantage of them. And on another note, Bartolo Colon...really? I believe he won some contest last year in the locker room that involved Philly Cheese steaks. For real. I am going to keep this short and sweet today and will spare you my stories and banter.

Investing Heavily

David Price, TOR - What is not to love here? Price has 15 strikeouts over his last two starts spanning 12 innings with a 2.25 ERA. He gets a great park shift at Turner Field facing a Braves team that strikeout 19.2-percent and have a .277 wOBA versus LHP this season.

Jake Arrieta, CHC - Holy mackerel! He just keeps getting it done every time he goes on the mound. In his last eight starts he has only allowed three earned runs. Tonight he faces the Pirates who strikeout 20.6-percent with a .314 wOBA versus RHP. Over the last seven days the Pirates are struggling batting only .244. You put them up against a 56.6-percent ground ball rate, 9.23/K9 rate, and 2.57 FIP and you got one hell of a great outing in the works.

Chris Archer, TB - You know Chris Archer gives me Trevor Bauer syndrome. Whenever I take him it feels like I am constantly checking my phone waiting for the bad inning where he has a melt down. Then by games end I'm breathing a sigh of relief when I see he did me proud. He gets the Yankees tonight who strikeout 19.2-percent of the time and have a .321 wOBA versus RHP. They are slumping lately batting a pathetic .217 with a horrible .285 wOBA over the last seven days. Archer has 19 strikeouts over his last 17 1/3 innings and should keep you in the mix in cash games today.

Moderately Priced

Gio Gonzalez, WSH - This is one of them plays where you have to trust the numbers. Gio over his last two starts has 14 strikeouts over 11 1/3 innings with a 0.79 ERA. Tonight he faces the Phillies who over the last seven days are striking out 28.3-percent of the time with a .192 batting average. They also strikeout 22.6-percent with a .311 wOBA versus LHP and the Nationals bats should get him the win facing Alec Asher.

Hisashi Iwakuma, SEA - After a horrible start to his season he sure has bounced back. He even had a no-hitter. Over his last 12 2/3 innings pitched he has a 2.84 ERA with nine strikeouts. He gets a great park shift at home facing the Angels who have a .309 wOBA versus RHP and are batting a pathetic .210 over the last seven days.

Middle Class

Alex Wood, LAD - Wood is one of them pitchers you have to catch in the right match up at the right time to get any kind of use out of him fantasy wise. This is the right occasion. Tonight he faces the Rockies who strikeout 21.6-percent of the time and have a .279 wOBA versus LHP. Incase you are not paying attention this is second to last in Major League Baseball only ahead of the horrible Atlanta Braves. It gets worse, they also only have a .286 wOBA on the road and over the last seven days are batting .199 and striking out 27.4-percent of the time. After a game that went 16 innings last night I will have exposure to Wood in some cash games and pairing him on two pitcher sites.

Bargain Basement

Please keep in mind that Bargain Basement implies you get what you pay for.

Jake Peavy, SF - In this world we have two Jake Peavys. The one who pitches at home in AT & T park and the one who is on the road. They are two entirely different people. The home Jake Peavy has a 3.89 ERA and the road Peavy has a 4.80 ERA. Tonight he is home and he gets the Cincinnati Reds who I used to find a little scary but as of late not so much. The Reds have a .311 wOBA and are striking out 18.2-percent versus RHP. Granted they are a bit stingy in strikeouts but they struggle on the road and are only batting .235 over the last seven. He's cheap and on a great night can surprise you.

Ervin Santana, MIN - Before you close the book on this play and think I am crazy hear me out. In GPP games you have to take risk. You have to look for that play that no one else will be crazy enough to try and give it a whirl. You add in the Tigers and it lowers the ownership a lot. I mean a real lot. Santana is getting better every start. Over his last two starts spanning 15 innings he has 17 strikeouts with a 1.80 ERA. The Tigers do strikeout 20-percent of the time versus RHP. Even they get shut down and it could happen today. I will have exposure today to Santana in GPP play. You never know for $2 or $5 on FanDuel it could work.
