We have a massive 11-game main slate tonight in baseball and plenty of routes we can go. We do have some weather factoring into a few areas, but we’re going to avoid those spots for the sake of plays – and our wallets. Let’s dive into some of the best options on the board!

George Springer OVER 1.5 total bases

This match-up for Nick Pivetta is, well, what some would say is a nightmare. He has a 10.03 ERA, his K-rate is down over six percent from last year, he’s walking nearly SEVEN batters per nine innings and he’s allowing over THREE home runs per nine.

Insert your favorite Blue Jays hitter here. Tonight, mine is George Springer, who I made my home run call on the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Quick Pitch Podcast. On the year, Springer has a .508 SLG%, .230 ISO, and .368 wOBA. All three of his home runs hit this year have come against righties and 17 of his 22 came against RHP last season.

This is an awful match-up for Pivetta and a great one for Springer. Even if he doesn’t homer, we should expect multiple hits or an extra-base hit in this spot.

Marcus Semien OVER 1.5 total bases

Things have not been great for Marcus Semien to start the year, there is no doubting that, but he feasted off right-handed pitching a year ago and gets a match-up against a righty that cannot seemingly get ANYONE out right now.

Jake Odorizzi, the starter for Houston tonight, has a 9.00 ERA, 10.2% K-rate, 14.3% BB-rate, has an xFIP of 6.49, suggesting he’s not suffering from bad luck at all. What’s to like there? Why shouldn’t we attack him?

Enter Semien who a year ago belted 35 home runs against right-handed pitching. He also had 31 doubles and a triple. He had a .564 SLG%, .906 OPS, .291 ISO, and .380 wOBA too. The guy we’ve seen early on in 2022 is not who we’re going to see in this match-up. Book it.
