SP | Casey Kelly | LG | G. Lee (R) | $8,800 |
Started the slate as a heavy favorite and the line just jumped with LG sitting as a -305 favorite versus the visition SK Wyverns. Kelly disappointed his last time out causing his ERA to rise to 6.12 but his 3.47 FIP suggests favorable migration to the mean and he's recorded 23 strikeouts against nine walks through 25 innings this season. As a team, SK owns the second worst batting average in the league (.241) with an 18.9 K% and team .688 OPS. Priced to succeed, Kelly will be chalk on this slate but worth it.
SP | Adrian Sampson | LOT | W. Saupold (R) | $8,600 |
Making only his third start of the season, Sampson's pitching through the death of his father plus immersing himself into the KBO. Many will be scared off by his 9.39 ERA and 2.09 WHIP over his first 7.2 innings with only six strikeouts. This contest comes with the lowest total on the board (nine runs) and Lotte's a -186 favorite. If he can stay out of trouble against a struggling Hanwha offense in the midst of a 14-game losing streak.
SP | Warwick Saupold | HAN | A. Sampson (R) | $9,500 |
Death, taxes and Saupold throwing at least six innings could be a rallying cry for the KBO. Saupold's logged at least six innings in 10 straight regular season outings dating back to last year and notched five quality starts in his six outings so far in 2020. Due to his team, he may not get the win but lord knows they are due. Saupold faced Lotte once earlier in the season going seven innings allowing two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. A repeat could be in the offing.
SP | Tae In Won | SAM | Y. Jo (R) | $7,100 |
More of a GPP play, Won's turned it on of late giving up only two earned runs over his last 22 innings spanning three starts with 15 strikeouts against two walks. He's the underdog in this match-up but could be a low owned GPP SP2 with upside if he stays hot. Of course, he's facing a tough Kiwoom offense in his home park which leans towards hitters.
SP | Hyun Jong Yang | KIA | H. So (R) | $10,100 |
So, with this price Yang better win. He's 4-2 this year with a 4.22 ERA, 4.37 FIP and 1.25 WHIP. His 22:4 K:BB in 32 innings could do well versus the KT Wiz on the road if he can neutralize their right-handed bats. Kia's a -150 favorite but this game has a 10.5 over/under. Target with eyes wide open.... |
Hitters | ||||
Pos | Player | Team | Opp. Pitcher | DK Sal. |
C | Kang Nam Yoo | LG | G. Lee (R) | $3,900 |
Turned it on of late with a .455 average his last 10 games and an OPS of 1.182 with three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI in them.
C | Dong Won Park | KIW | T. Won | $4,600 |
Park continues to rake with a .351 average and seven home runs and 28 RBI this year along with an OPS north of 1,000 for the Heroes. Won's been pitching well for Samsung but yields a .265 average to RHH and seven extra-base hits so far.
C | Eui Ji Yang | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $5,900 |
If playing the Dinos stack, Yang' high priced at catcher but on a modest four-game hit streak with two doubles, one home run and six RBI in it. He gets to face a 19 year old pitcher making his KBO debut on ESPN.
1B | Roberto Ramos | LG | G. Lee (R) | $4,700 |
Even with his price rising, Ramos remains a value on this slate at first base. He faces a pitcher giving up a .296 average to LHH with three of the eight hits against him going for extra-bases. Ramos continues to square up all of his contact and leads the KBO in home runs (12) launching one every 7.22 at-bats this season versus right-handed pitchers. Calling a Ramos dinger in this one.
1B/2B | Jose Fernandez | DOO | S. Choi (L) | $6,300 |
If loading up on Dinos, why not chase it back with some Doosan bats in a game with a 12.5 run total? Fernandez cooled of late but with the ESPN cameras shining, he should be able to produce a multi-hit game against a struggling NC starter (5.14 ERA, 8.44 FIP) and due for an extra-base hit with some RBI in this match-up.
2B | Min Woo Park | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $4,500 |
With a recent price drop, Park should lead-off in the slate's contest with the highest run total facing a 19 year old rookie making his debut. Park scored 20 points on Friday notching three hits including a double, an RBI and stole a base. He may not hit a home run but his ability to accrue points across the board makes him an enviable target.
Pos | Player | Team | Opp. Pitcher | DK Sal. |
2B/SS | Jin Hyuk No | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $3,400 |
If looking to save money, No's a streaky player with seven hits his last five starts while blasting two home runs. He's hitting .448/.515/.862 over his last 10 contests and primed for a nice night below the radar in DFS.
SS | Sun Bin Kim | KIA | H. So (R) | $4,300 |
Another hitter near the top of the order, Kim usually hits second and a reverse splits guy hitting .377 versus RHP with 11 walks versus five strikeouts this year. So induces contact and issues walks so Kim should be able to rack up a couple of hits, score a run and produce a safe floor at a position of need in this slate.
SS | Ha Seong Kim | KIW | T. Won (R) | $6,100 |
If looking for variance in GPP's Kim's price point at shortstop puts him off the radar. But, over his last 10 games he's hitting .366/.469/.561 with 10 runs, two home runs, 10 RBI and two stolen bases. Plus, Kim's on an eight-game hit streak while hitting .478 in six games this month going 11-for-his-last-23 with seven runs, two doubles, a home run and four RBI.
3B/SS | Tyler Saladino | SAM | Y. Jo (R) | $4,200 |
With third base sort of thin, Saladino boasts a .452 average with a 1.349 OPS, eight runs, four doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI his last 10 contests. His home ballpark benefits home runs and Saladino could fare well in this match-up with Kiwoom.
2B/3B | Byung Woo Jeon | KIW | T. Won (R) | $2,300 |
Off the beaten path, but Jeon's hitting .297 through his first 40 plate appearances for Kiwoom taking over at third base.
3B | Sang Chul Moon | KTW | H. Yang (L) | $2,500 |
The return of Baek-ho Kang may cloud Moon's playing time but if he finds his way into the lineup could be a nice value. Moon's 4-for-12 versus LHP this season with a home run.
1B/OF | Jin Sung Kang | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $3,600 |
So, Kang leads the KBO in each category of slash lines hitting a robust .468/.522/.835 with 27 RBI in 26 games and his price on Draft Kings dropped? Since Ramos should thrive at first base, using Kang in the outfield for salary relief with upside makes sense. Kang owns a .522 average with three home runs and 17 RBI against RHP with a rookie making his KBO debut in NC. Yes please.
OF | Mel Rojas Jr. | KTW | H. Yang (L) | $6,500 |
If paying up at OF, Rojas Jr. makes sense. He's coming off two rough starts but rakes LHP with a .484 average and five home runs in 31 at-bats so far in 2020. People overlook stars coming off poor starts.
OF | Aaron Altherr | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $4,500 |
A frustrating player to target in past DFS in the MLB, but Altherr's caught fire for the Dinos riding a five-game hit streak going 7-for-17 (.412) with nine runs, three home runs and nine RBI in it. He's also slashing .316/.409/.711 his last 10 games with 11 runs, four home runs and 15 RBI. NC should roll over a rookie in his debut making Altherr an alluring target at his price.
OF | Sung Bum Na | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $5,500 |
Remember when Na went for under $4K on DK? Those days expired in the midst of his hot streak. Na also likes the bright lights of ESPN raking in prime time games on the network. He also gets to face a rookie in his KBO debut while hitting six home runs his last 10 games with a robust 1.362 OPS.
OF | Hyun Soo Kim | LG | H. Han (R) | $5,100 |
Launched his second home run on Sunday and gets to face a right-handed pitcher giving up a .296 average to LHH. Kim's only struck out twice in in 74 at-bats against RHP this year with a .419 average and 11 walks. If he jacks one for the second game in a rwo, he's a low owned GPP gem.
OF | Preston Tucker | KIA | H. So (R) | $6,200 |
Despite So being better versus LHH, Tucker looks to bounce back in the power department coming off a day of rest and still leads the KBO in RBI. This sets up for a nice day to use Kia bats if all goes right in the match-up.
OF | Ho Ryung Kim | KIA | H. So (R) | $3,400 |
Note, he left Sunday's game early with a finger injury but if in the lineup he's one of my favorite plays on the slate. Kim's on a six-game hit streak with five extra-base hits (one double, two triples, two home runs) in it. Plus, he hits right-handed and So allows a .352 average to them so far this year making Kim a prime candidate to homer on the slate.
OF | Myung Gi Lee | NCD | J. Jo (R) | $2,800 |
If needing salary relief in the Dinos stack, Lee hits second and coming off a 2-for-3 game with two runs, a double, an RBI and a walk on Sunday. He's also on a five-game hit streak scoring at least a run in each. |
Stacks
Team Stacks | |||||
1 | NCD | Dinos | Opp. Pitcher | Je Yeong Jo (R)
Stack | Myung Gi Lee | Sung Bum Na | Jin Sung Kang | Jin Hyuk No | Aaron Altherr |
So, NC owns the league's best team batting average (.304), the most home runs (49) and average over seven runs a game. They get a 19 year old pitcher making his KBO debut on ESPN. Fire up the Dinos and not even listed but not ignored would be catcher Eui Ji Yang or leadoff hitter Min Woo Park. Dear lord.
2 | LG | Twins | Opp. Pitcher | Geon Wook Lee (R)
Mini-Stack | Hyun Soo Kim | Eun Sung Chae | Roberto Ramos
Lee enters this game allowing a .296 average to left-handed bats making this three a nice mini-stack in a game leaning towards LG supporting pitcher Casey Kelly to a win.
3 | KIA | Tigers | Opp. Pitcher | Hyeong Jun So (R)
Mini-Stack | Ho Ryung Kim | Sun Bin Kim | Preston Tucker
Kia's a -150 favorite with a run total approaching six in this contest. So owns a 5.34 ERA and 1.43 WHIP allowing right-handed hitters to a .352 average and gives up extra-base hits to left-handed bats meaning Tucker could leave the yard in this one. |
