Pitchers | ||||
Pos | Player | Team | Opp. Pitcher | DK Sal. |
SP | Casey Kelly | LG | W. Saupold | $7,400 |
A rocky start to the year skews Kelly's numbers but migration to the mean could make him a top target on an odd slate. Kelly owns a 5.79 ERA but with a 2.82 FIP signalling almost three runs of positive regression in the offing. Kelly won 14 games last year with a 2.55 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with some strikeout upside in the slate's lowest total (eight runs). There's some risk however Kelly could score the most on DK.
SP | Warwick Saupold | HAN | C. Kelly | $9,000 |
Although LG enters as a -148 favorite, Saupold represents Hanwha's ace with a quality start in each of his four starts this year and tied for sixth in ERA (2.25) in the KBO. Saupold's FIP (3.86) hints at some correction and his high in strikeouts this year was five, so it depresses his updside. Some can put both of these starters in cash games with by far the lowest total on the board and hope to accrue the quality start bonus points on each side. Or, for GPP's Saupold will be low owned as a home dog at a high price with low strikeout potential.
SP | Hyun Jong Yang | KIA | H. So | $9,600 |
Another cash game option, Yang enters this matchup with Kia being a -150 favorite on the road. Yang's 3-1 in four starts with three quality outings, a 3.43 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. His 16:6 K:BB in 21 innings should help him keep the Wiz bats off balance. However, Yang's 4.80 FIP serves as a warning beacon for the risk averse.
SP | Young Gyu Kim | NCD | D. Jung | $6,300 |
Only a GPP dart or longshot hope for a win bonus in cash games, Kim owns an enticing 12:1 K:BB through his first three starts spanning 16 innings with a 1.19 WHIP and 3.94 ERA. On the other hand, Kim's 7.17 FIP portends some negative regression to the mean and if the Kiwoom bats show up, this could be a pinball score. If using Kim as a -175 favorite in Vegas, know there's a chance he could blow up or log 5-to-6 innings for the win bonus if the Dinos take advantage of a Kiwoom starter making his first start in the KBO since 2017. |
Hitters | ||||
Pos | Player | Team | Opp. Pitcher | DK Sal. |
C | Jin Sung Kang | NCD | D. Jung (L) | $2,700 |
Even though Kang did not start on Wednesday, he still launched his fifth home run entering the game as a pitch hitter. Kang sports a .476 average and would lead the KBO in OPS if he qualified but only has 51 plate appearances. Still, if he's in the lineup as a positional player with catcher eligibility on DK, he's tough to ignore at this price point.
C | Eui Ji Yang | NCD | D. Jung (L) | $4,800 |
If taking the chalk, Yang hit his second home run on Wednesday and second in his last five contests. Yang's slashing .314/.419/.549 and heating up with the power for the Dinos.
C | Se Hyuk Park | DOO | G. Lee (R) | $3,000 |
For those targeting the 12.5 run total in Doosan, Park's hitting .319 with an alluring .431 OBP with eight walks against only two strikeouts for the Bears this year.
1B/2B | Jose Miguel Fernandez | DOO | G. Lee (R) | $6,200 |
Fernandez recorded his 13th multiple hit game of his first 19 this year. He leads the KBO in average (.481), hits (38), runs (20) and tied for second in RBI (20). Perhaps using him at second base makes more sense to roster one of the other first baseman on the list. Either way, Fernandez could be worth the price against a struggling SK staff.
1B | Roberto Ramos | LG | W. Saupold | $3,700 |
Not sure what Ramos needs to do for his price to escalate. He's homered in three straight games, leads the KBO in home runs (9) and OPS (1.270). He may not get to Saupold but feasts on bullpens so far for the Twins.
1B/OF | Jamie Romak | SK | Y. Lee (R) | $5,600 |
Romak faces a Doosan pitcher serving up 2.3 home runs per nine innings with a 10.66 ERA. Yes, stacking Doosan bats make sense. So does getting a power hitter with only two home runs so far but launched 29 last year with a "dead" ball in play. Romak's due like a 10 month pregancy but he needs to be patient in this match-up.
1B/2B | Keon Chang Seo | KIW | Y. Kim (L) | $3,500 |
Seo hit his third home run and doubled in a Heroes loss to the Dinos. As the leadoff hitter, Seo's hitting .299 with more walks (8) than strikeouts (5) this year.
2B | Jae Won Oh | DOO | G. Lee (R) | $2,000 |
I mean, he’s minimum salary. Not only is he min salary, but he’s hitting .310 this year and can do a little of everything. He’s hit three homers and has a stolen base as well. Hard to ignore the split advantage at 2K.
Pos | Player | Team | Opp. Pitcher | DK Sal. |
1B/2B | Joo Hwan Choi | DOO | G. Lee (R) | $2,500 |
Projected to hit third on Thursday, Choi's a boom or bust play but hit four home runs with a .834 OPS through 71 plate appearances this year.
SS | Sun Bum Kim | KIA | H. So (R) | $4,000 |
Batting second for Kia, Kim racked up four hits in Tuesday and carries an eight game hit streak into this contest with a .355 average. Does a little bit of everything but hit home runs.
3B/SS | Chan Ho Park | KIA | H. So (R) | $4,700 |
Multiple positional eligibility and coming off a hitless game losing a 10-game hit streak. Park could bounce back quickly and he notched double digit DK points in five of the 10 games during his streak. Leading off for Kia guarantees at-bats.
3B | Kyoung Min Hur | DOO | S. Moon (R) | $2,700 |
Another cheap piece of the Doosan lineup. Hur lost a three game streak with two hits in each on Wednesday but this match-up against an unannounced SK pitcher and weary bullpen makes him a nice cheap play at a weak position in the KBO. Hur's hitting .319 on the year making him a safe floor option.
3B/SS | Jeong Choi | SK | Y. Lee (R) | $4,300 |
Issued four walks on Wednesday, Choi makes a perfect GPP play. He's seeing the ball better and under scrutiny due to his lack of production at the onset of the 2020 season. Calling a dong on Thursday.
3B | Suk Min Park | NCD | D. Jung (L) | $3,800 |
Park tallied three hits on Wednesday including his fifth home run. Armed with a .291/.388/.582 slash, he's primed for another strong day on Thursday.
OF | Sung Bum Na | NCD | D. Jung (L) | $4,400 |
Na recorded his fourth straight multi-hit contest on Wednesday raising his average to .320 on the season. He's nine-for-his-last-14 (.643) and due for a power surge. Yes please.
OF | Aaron Altherr | NCD | D. Jung (L) | $5,100 |
Altherr's four for his last six in this series with four home runs and four stolen bases on the season. He's a streaky player but could pay off on this slate with outfielders being in high demand to round out lineups.
OF | Preston Tucker | KIA | H. So (R) | $6,300 |
Tucker's in the midst of heating up and gets a pitcher with a 6.67 ERA who allowed eight earned runs his last outing. If Kia wins, Tucker will be a part of the reason why holding the KBO lead in RBI.
OF/SS | Taylor Motter | KIW | Y. Kim (L) | $3,700 |
Call me crazy, but Motter hit home runs in four straight "futures" games before being recalled to Kiwoom. He's a low priced dart in GPP's in a game with an 11.5 over/under.
OF | Myung Gi Lee | NCD | D. Jung (L) | $2,700 |
Last, a low priced part of the Dinos. Lee's six for his last 12 and racked up three hits on Wednesday batting second and scored two runs. |
Stacks
Team Stacks | |||||
1 | DOO | Bears | Opp. Pitcher | Geon Wook Lee
Stack | Jose Miguel Fernandez | Joo Hwan Choi | Jae Hwan Kim | Jae Won Oh | Se Hyuk Park |
Doosan's hit the over in 15 of their 19 games this year leading the KBO in runs (6.63 per game) and OPS (842). SK counters with a pitcher owning an 11.81 career ERA in the KBO. Gasoline meet match. Even better, both teams bullpens stink.
2 | NCD | Dinos | Opp. Pitcher | Dae Hyun Jung
Stack | Min Woo Park | Jin Sung Kang | Sung Bum Na | Aaron Altherr | Suk Min Park |
Kiwoom sends Dae Hyun Jung to the mound making his first start in the KBO since 2017 when he owned a 7.06 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. NC leads the KBO in home runs (27).
3 | SK | Wyverns | Opp. Pitcher | Yong Chan Lee
Mini-stack | Jeong Choi | Jamie Romak | Jin Gi Jeong
Doosan counters SK's starter with Lee who sports a 10.66 ERA and allowed 18 earned runs over his first three starts. This game comes with a 12.5 over/under and it feels like the SK bats could counter punch against Doosan's weak bullpen. |
