Alex Bregman is batting .135 with a .370 OPS in 56 plate appearances. Just saying.

Brandon Crawford had seven hits Monday. That’s the same total, or more, than six teams Monday night. The seven hits tie a National League record for a game (Willbert Robinson in 1892 and Rennie Stennett in 1975). Johnny Burnett has that trio smoked though. In 1932 he had 11 at-bats in a game, and produced nine hits. Back to Crawford. He had more hits Monday than his nine previous games (6-for-35).

David Dahl has a hit in all 14 big league games he has played in the big leagues. There are only two other players, since 1900, that had a streak of that length to begin their big league careers: Chuck Aleno had a 17-game streak in 1941 and Juan Pierre had a 16 gamer in 2000. I’ll complain though, cause you know me. He hasn’t attempted a steal yet. That will change, just like his .500 BABIP will dip drastically. Fantastic start for Dahl who has scored 13 runs while batting .382.

*NOTE: before I could post this piece, Dahl extended his streak to 15 games with a hit.

Prince Fielder is due $24 million a year through 2020 despite the fact that he may never play again. Ken Rosenthal is reporting Tuesday that Fielder’s career could be over after a second neck surgery. Here are his numbers with his father’s, Cecil.

Yes, they both have 319 homers.

Maikel Franco has hit 20 homers with 66 RBI and I hear complaints from folks. Why? That’s a pace for nearly 30 homers and 95 RBI. He’s batting .250 with a .745 OPS this season. For his career the marks are .257 and .758. Since the start of July, over 33 games, he’s hit .265 with a .762 OPS, seven homers and 25 RBI. So again, what are you folks complaining about?

Tyler Anderson has been good, but this won’t continue in COL. Time to start using caution with Jose Fernandez as we go deep into the season. Johnny Cueto has been struggling lately. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO.

Jose Reyes may not have suffered an official setback with his right side, but he’s not ready to go and won’t return this week.

This cat wants to play volleyball. For real.

Mark Reynolds isn’t exciting. But, he is batting .278 with 12 homers, 47 RBI and 55 runs scored while posting a .349 OBP for the Rockies. Oddly, the only thing he isn’t doing is hitting home runs as he has just 12 this season in 353 at-bats this season.

Christian Yelich has finally arrived this season for the fish. Nick Markakis isn’t sexy, but he is consistent. Denard Span has a great track record, but has been very average this year in San Francisco. CHECK OUT THE VIDEO.

Corey Seager hit two homers last night. In his first full season the soon to be Rookie of the Year has hit .302 with 21 homers, 31 doubles and a .889 OPS. Those are elite numbers. Already. Seager has been better than Carlos Correa who has hit .267 with 15 homers, 10 steals and a .820 OPS. As “bad” as Correa has been this season you are aware that he’s still on pace for 20 homers, 100 RBI and 15 steals, right?

Tim Tebow is serious about trying to play professional baseball. Here’s his swing. Here’s a report on his game. Gary Sheffield was impressed.
