Fantasy Alarm is taking a different approach to help our subscribers build successful DFS lineups.  I will be giving you my personal core plays for this weekend's tournament.  These players listed below are my three favorite top tier, middle tier and value tier players for both DraftKings and Fanduel.  They will be at the core of all my lineups for this weekend's American Express and then I'll use my playbook to fill out the remaining spots in my lineup.

We’ve got two tournament this week.  The WGC-Workday Championship which is the featured event of the week and the Puerto Rico Open.  The Top 80 players in the world at the time are invited in four WGC events throughout the calendar year.  Everyone who is not invited to play, they head down to Puerto Rico for that event.  I wanted to make sure there would be no confusion as to the PGA content this week.  You’ve seen the full DFS playbook for the WGC released and the Core Plays for that event.  Now, it’s time for the Core Plays for the Puerto Rico Open.  Just a heads up, Fanduel is not even offering a game for this event, only DraftKings.  If you have any more questions for the WGC or Puerto Rico events that you’d like answered, you could reach out to me in the chat or on twitter @Drew_Phelps83.

The Puerto Rico Open is played at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande.  We’ve got 132 players in the field.  We’ve seen a wide variety of players win this event, including four first-time participants in the last six years.  The course stretches out just over 7,500 yards and its main defense are the island winds which gusts could get up into the 20s this weekend.  The fairways and greens are pretty easy for PGA Tour standards which should make for great scoring conditions.  I targeted players who have good history on island and coast line courses.  I looked over the previous winners and the stats which they excelled in were Strokes Gained: Approach, Greens in Regulation, Scrambling and Birdie or Better percentage.  You’ll see a lot of familiar names playing this weekend but what you won’t be used to is their price tags.  All of these players would typically be in the 8K or below range in your average PGA Tour weekend but you’ve got Thomas Pieters, Matt Wallace, Emiliano Grillo, Ian Poulter, and Branden Grace sitting above 10K.  You’ll just have to grin and bear it when rostering these guys at those prices.  The winner of this event will get to play in THE PLAYERS Championship and the PGA Championship this season.

This new format of core plays I think is way more valuable to our subscribers because it lends more to teaching than just copy and pasting.  A set of these players will be in each one of my lineups this weekend and then a mix of players from my playbook will fill out the rest.

ONE AND DONE PLAY: Patrick Rodgers

Good Luck!
