The PGA Championship was fantastic from start to finish.  You had a challenging yet fair course, amazing performances, smack talk between players, high drama going into the back nine on Sunday and a young phenom slaying all the tour’s biggest names to win his first major championship.  I have to give ESPN credit for doing a perfect job with the coverage especially giving fans easy access through ESPN+ to see all of the action from the first tee shot to the final putt.  Tip of the cap to TPC Harding Park for being an amazing stunning venue which gave these players a chance to make birdies but punished them for mistakes.  I obviously regret not going with my gut and putting Morikawa into my playbook last week but those are the tough choices you’ve got to make week in and week out in Daily Fantasy Golf.  Overall, I was proud of the playbook and I’ve got more great plays for you at the Wyndham Championship.

This tournament is the warm up to the FedEx Cup playoffs which starts next week at the Northern Trust Open.  This week will be the last chance for a lot of players to get into the Top 125 of the FedEx Cup standings and play in next week’s first event.  The winner of the FedEx Cup takes home $10 million dollars, so the cup might not really mean a lot to these players but that prize definitely does.  I’ll probably mention a few guys in the playbook who are on that cut line of making it to next week’s tournament as extra motivation.  So with that in mind, one of my key stats this week is the FedEx Cup standings.  When you look at the field, it’s pretty weak especially when compared to what we’ve seen over the last two weeks.  You’ve got a few stand outs like Brooks Koepka, Webb Simpson, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Patrick Reed and a few others.  This tournament will be a battle of the mid-tier PGA Tour players.

The Wyndham Championship is held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.  That means a few of these players will be playing back to back weeks on opposite coasts.  The course is 7,127 yards and plays as a Par 70.  The yardage is deceiving on this course because there are a lot of uphill and downhill holes.  You really don’t have to be accurate off the tee on this track because of the length.  Nine of the 18 holes will probably only require the players to hit a wedge into the greens which is an obviously advantage whether you're hitting from the fairway or the rough.  That does mean though that once again I’ll be putting an emphasis on Strokes Gained: Approach.  I’m also going to look at proximity because you need to go low this weekend, J.T. Poston won this event last year at 22 under par.  Players will have to hit these small greens in regulation (GIR) but 73 percent (as of last year) have hit them since 2008 which is just off the charts for a PGA Tour golf course.  Once again we’ve got a course with an abundance of Par 4s with length ranging between 450-500 yards, eight to be exact.  That means we’re bringing back Par 4 Efficiency.  Strokes Gained: Putting will be added to the mix as the greens are known for their undulation and we need birdies this week.  Also, when you look over the history of this event, when a golfer plays well here, that's a common theme when you look through their course history.  You'll see a bunch of players in my playbook that have had success here multiple times.

The forecast for this weekend in Greensboro does not look great.  There is a 60 percent chance of rain each of the four days.  I definitely expect some wet conditions for these players.  The only good news is that the winds will be relatively tame in the single digits throughout the weekend.

The playbooks will slowly shrink as we move into the playoffs over the next few weeks. The Tour Championship will just be optimal lineups that week because of the small field that will participate.

KEY STATS: Strokes Gained: Approach, Strokes Gained: Putting, Par 4 Efficiency 450-500 yards, Proximity, and FedEx Cup Standings
