The RBC Canadian Open has called a lot courses home over the years.  Glen Abbey had played host in 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2009, 2008, and 2004. For the first time in seven years, it moves to the Hamilton Golf and Country Club. We've got 32 players in the field that also participated in this event back in 2012 when it was last held here. he was held at this venue.

The total yardage has not changed much at all since the tour's last trip to Hamilton, just under 7,000 which is pretty short for a PGA tour course. The par remains the same at 70 with two par 5s. Scott Piercy was your winner here in 2012 with a 17 under. The course rewards ball-striking and shot-shaping, which means Piercy wasn't necessarily a surprise winner but not really in the list of favorites either. Putting will be a key this weekend, as Piercy averaged 12 greens in regulation per round in his victory, also ranked 2nd in putting and birdies or better.

Distance is at a premium this week, usually this older courses reward accuracy off the tee but not here. 10 of the 14 golfers inside the top 10 on the leaderboard in 2012 finished T30 or worse in fairways hit, while 10 cracked the top 25 in length. 10 were inside the top 25s in scrambling and either landed inside the top 20 in strokes gained:putting. It's all about going long and taking advantage of your opportunities on the greens.

Do you realize that the U.S. Open is next week??? Pebble Beach plays host to this year's event and that means we've got another millionaire maker challenge. This is why I love this new schedule for the PGA Tour, you don't have to wait so long in between majors. We should have a lot of fun next week breaking down Pebble Beach, it's also my birthday and father's day, so double bonus!

GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY THE PLAYBOOK …
