The wrap around PGA Tour schedule gives us more opportunities throughout the “off-season” to make more money playing DFS Golf.  I enjoyed my one week break by getting up super early to watch the Ryder Cup only to be disappointed on Sunday afternoon. Sleep is so valuable when you have a child under two and I made a bad decision. I hope you enjoyed your week off more than I did.

The Safeway Open is the first of eight tournaments in the fall portion of the 2018-19 season.  This event used to be known as the Frys.com Open and is played at the beautiful Silverado Country Club in Napa, California.  This short 7,166 yard, par 72 is tree lined with tough bunker locations, big greens and a little bit of water as well.  Players must stay dry this week.

Brandon Steele is the back-to-back champion of this event because his game plays right into what you’re looking for on this track, ball striking.  He is one of the best total drivers in the game and torched this course to the tune of 19 under in 2016 and 15 under in 2017. Fairways are hit just over 50 percent of the time at Silverado which makes hitting them at a premium this week.  A superb putting stroke is not needed to win this event but it does give players a chance to work out their putting kinks before getting into the meat of the 2019 PGA Tour schedule.

Thursday's weather forecast looks a big sketchy right now with scattered showers looming but the rest of the weekend looks fanastic. Should be a fun first week, good luck!
