PLAY FANTASY GOLF FOR THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP WITH MAJORSCHALLENGE.COM

It's our last major of the 2018 Fantasy Golf season and it makes me sad.  The last chance to score a million dollars on DraftKings and become a DFS Golf legend.  There are a ton of storylines from Tiger Wood's last shot in 2018 to win a major to Jordan Spieth going for the career grand slam for the second time.  The defending champion Justin Thomas is fresh off a victory at the Bridgestone and looking for more.  It should be a fun weekend, so lets get down to business.

The 100th Edition of the PGA Championship is being held at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.  The course has hosted the 1965 U.S. Open (Gary Player won) and the 1992 PGA Championship (Nick Price won) which means course history will not be much of a factor this weekend.  The only players who have experience on this track are the few who played in the 2008 BMW Championship like Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson, Kevin Streelman, J.B. Holmes, Brandt Snedeker, Aaron Baddeley, Jim Furyk, Brian Gay, and Lucas Glover to name a few guys still playing regularly on the tour.  You can expect warm and muggy conditions through the weekend with little to no call for rain or wind.  We will really get to see what this course can do to these professionals.

This is a stock Par 70 that stretches out 7,316 yards.  When these players look off the tee, they'll see targets that are wider than most major championship courses, allowing more than nine fairways hit per golfer per round.  We've got bentgrass greens which are rather large but they are segmented.  This course is similar to Augusta National in that most all of the holes at Bellerive turn to the left with only the par-5 17th curving to the right.  I love it when courses have a name for a stretch of holes like the "Snake Pit" or the "Bear Trap" and we've got one here called "The Ridge" which are holes 14, 15, and 16 known for their amazing views   But this course all comes down to number 18, a 457 yard par-4 which ranked as the hardest hole on the course during the 2008 BMW.

This is a rare week where putting will take a back seat because of the unfamiliar greens for most of the field.  Total driving and proximity to the hole will determine our 2018 PGA Champion.  The putting surfaces are large which will give great putters plenty of opportunities to score but if  you miss them, you'll be punished with three-inch thick fescue which frame most sightlines off the tee.  We've also got water in play on eight holes as well.  When you look over what this course hits you with, course management will be key to take home the Wanamaker Trophy.

You'll notice in my playbook that besides Dustin Johnson, I don't love anyone above 10K this week.  I'm all about those mid-9K values like Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Justin Rose.  I just don't see the value in spending up for guys like Rory and Spieth when you've got all that talent for cheaper.  I'll have a lot of those three 9K guys in my lineups.

Good luck to all this week!  Reminder that my optimal lineups will come out at 2:30p ET this afternoon and you can catch me on the Fantasy Alarm show today at 5:35p ET on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio.
