Welcome Back!  The PGA Tour heads to the Lonestar State for the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio Texas.  TPC San Antonio has played host to this event since 2010 and the winner receives a pair of black boots, so there's that.  You will notice that none of my stats or results will come before 2010 because of the venue change.  This is a pretty standard PGA Tour event with 156 golfers in the field with the cut line at 70 plus ties.  You know your tournament field is less than stellar when Jimmy Walker is the highest priced DFS golfer on the board.

TPC San Antonio is a sizable course with narrow fairways, deep bunkers and some really nasty hazards to avoid.  The par 72 reaches out 7,435 yards but the funny thing about the course is that the Par 3's and Par 5's are some of the longest on Tour but the Par 4's are the 7th shortest.  That makes it seem like the golfers should punish this track but I have not mentioned the wind.  Gusty conditions can really help a golfer put up a big number on any given day.  In 2015, there were recorded gusts touching 38 mph at times.  The good news is that we should not see that again this year but inclement weather will big a huge factor over the weekend.  There is a reasonable threat for rain and storms heading into Thursday but we should get a break on Friday and Saturday before they roll back in on Sunday.  You should keep an eye on the weather report leading up to lineups lock.  If you are worried about the weather especially on Thursday morning, you could put together a lineup with just afternoon tee times on Thursday.

When you look through the history of Top 10's at this course, players with good approach numbers from 175 yards and out have had greater success.  We have already talked about the wind, but because of that, you should be targeting good scramblers.  Players will get themselves into messy situations on this golf course, so you want guys in your lineup who know how to get themselves out of those situations.  My lineups will be filled with players who have been playing well recently, great course history, scrambling ability and of course, putting skills!

Our friend Paige is back and as you can see, she's none to pleased with last week's performance.  She could not be more disappointed in Brandt Snedeker, Paul Casey and Brian Harman just to name a few.  We all need to focus and put our eyes on the prize once again.

One last thing I'd like to touch on before we get to the playbook.  I have been getting a lot of questions each week from readers about guys who are not in my playbook.  If a player is not in my playbook, there is a reason for that.  I have said it over and over that I feel that listing all of the players at 10K and above is not helpful to anyone.  They are in that range for a reason, because they are good players and have a better chance at winning than most.  If I don't list a Jordan Spieth or a Jason Day, it's not because I don't think they are good golfers or I don't think they can win, it's because I am either fading them completely or will have limited exposure.  Lets take this week for example, Branden Grace.  He is a really good player and is coming in hot after winning at the RBC Heritage last week but if you look closer, he does not have a good history coming off a win.  Brooks Koepka, a fantastic golfer, his long ball of the tee is a nice advantage on a course like this but he is not a great iron player and his scrambling is not where I'd like it to be for a track like TPC San Antonio.

I wish you all good luck and I appreciate any and all feedback in the comment section or on Twitter @Drew_Phelps83. Thanks!
