The injury to Ben Roethlisberger pushes Antonio Brown out of the top 5, which is the first time all season that his name isn’t on this list. On the other hand, the injury to Vincent Jackson in Tampa Bay opens up some additional targets for Mike Evans, so it’s no surprise why he is the second best receiver according to these rankings in Week 7. Also, Colin Kaepernick in San Fran opens the door for some long connections with wide receiver Torrey Smith. The latter will never see this top 5 list, but for season long leagues, he’s worth a pickup at the very least.

Here are the top 5 wide receivers for Week 7 of the NFL season.

Julio Jones vs. SD

Matt Ryan is playing at an elite level and Jones gets to face off against an underwhelming San Diego secondary. The Chargers have allowed seven touchdowns to opposing wide receivers this season and the Ryan-to-Jones combination is going to be way too much in a likely shootout for San Diego on Sunday.

Mike Evans @ SF

Evans’ 12.4 targets per game lead the league and with Vincent Jackson heading to the IR, six or so targets per game just opened up in the aerial attack. The team is going to run the ball often, but anytime they decide to throw the ball, it’s going Evans’ way, more often than not.

Odell Beckham @ LA

Since making up with the kicker’s net, Beckham is starting to play like the fantasy superstar we all know he is. The Rams are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing receivers and quarterback Eli Manning knows, especially after last week, that the passing attack runs through ODB. Beckham is fifth in the league with an average of 10.17 targets per game.

A.J. Green vs. CLE

Right above Beckham on the target totem pole is A.J. Green. He has a solid matchup against a Cleveland secondary that may be without Joe Haden again. The Browns have allowed eight touchdowns to opposing wide receivers and given Green’s pedigree in the offense, he could go for multiple scores himself.

Allen Robinson vs. OAK

Through six games this season, the Raiders defense has allowed seven touchdowns to opposing receivers, en route to being the fifth-most generous team in terms of fantasy points to the position. Robinson has been hit-or-miss with Blake Bortles this season, but if there was a week where they connect in a big way, this week is surely it.
