It’s Sunday, so you know what that means! It’s time to take a look at the interleague matchups for the upcoming week and determine how it will affect our fantasy lineups. What fantasy players stand to gain some value? You’ll find that and more here at Fantasy Alarm!

This week, we have just two interleague series to conclude the 2021 season. An American League East team will lose the designated hitter for a three-game set, whereas a National League Central team will gain the DH spot, but just for two games. Keep on reading to see which players gain/lose fantasy value in the final week of the season!

Reds @ White Sox (9/28-9/29)

With this being just a two game set, there isn’t much to be concerned about here in terms of fantasy impact, especially when the majority of your games that week are against the Pittsburgh Pirates! Chicago will throw one righty and one lefty, which likely pushes Cincinnati to start Jose Barrera in center one game and TJ Friedl in the other.

Winners: No Major Winners

Losers: No Major Losers

Red Sox @ Nationals (10/1-10/3)

Now that Kyle Schwarber is back in the mix, where will J.D. Martinez go? Boston needs his bat in the lineup, but it could be a weekend of musical chairs in the Boston outfield. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a different outfielder get a day off in each game of the series, with perhaps Martinez even being one of them. Recently, Alex Verdugo has given way to others (namely Schwarber) when a lefty has been on the bump, so if anyone was at risk to sit multiple games in this series, it would be Verdugo.

Winners: No Major Winners

Losers: Potentially Alex Verdugo
