You have to love a full 15-game slate! You have to! A full evening of baseball with minimal weather concerns is a thing of beauty. There are plenty of great value bats, and I even added my favorite arm of the day. He had a horrible start to the season, but has been much better of late, and gets to face a team that he has carved up this year! Who is it? Keep reading to find out.

Per usual, plenty of value bats below to help round out your lineup, so find out who your stars are going to be this evening, and then use the guys below to add some productive, value bats (or arm) to your lineup! Without further ado, let’s check out my value bats and value arm for tonight's full slate!

All Sites

Kenta Maeda (R), SP MIN ($8,300 FD/$8,200 DK/$37 Yahoo) - Detroit has been good against right-handers lately, but Maeda has been tough at home and on Detroit this year. In five home starts this year, despite a 1-2 record, Maeda has a 2.81 ERA and a 28:7 K/BB ratio across 25.2 innings of work. The righty has also made three starts against the Tigers this year, and he’s posted a 2.81 ERA with 21 strikeouts across 16 innings of work. The price point on all sites for Maeda is affordable, and through four July starts, he has a 2.35 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 23 innings of work. After a rough start to the year, it looks like Maeda is finally turning a corner.

Rafael Ortega (L), OF CHC ($2,000 FD/$2,400 DK/$7 Yahoo) - Ortega has been impressive this year, especially against righties. He’s hitting righties at a .316 clip with a quality .359 wOBA. He’s hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, and overall for the month of July, he’s hitting .368 with a .915 OPS. Cincinnati’s Gutierrez has been better on the road versus at home this year, but in three July starts, he’s allowed a 5.06 ERA with just seven strikeouts across 16 innings of work.

Yahoo!

Jesse Winker (L), OF CIN ($14) - You have to pay an arm and a leg on FanDuel and DraftKings to get Winker in your lineup, but on Yahoo, he’s rather affordable and pretty easy to work into your lineup. Chicago’s Adbert Alzolay (R) has been tough on righties, but lefties have posted a .405 wOBA and OPS near .970! Winker has hit righties at a .343 clip this year and over the last two weeks, he’s hitting .326 with a .918 OPS. It’s even better over his last 24 at-bats, as those marks jump to .417 and 1.190. He’s a must-play on Yahoo today.

Tyler O’Neill, OF STL ($12) - Another affordable price point for massive upside on Yahoo today. O’Neill has a .275 average on the road this year and he’s pummeled righties, to the tune of a .287 average and an impressive 14.4 AB/HR. For what it’s worth, in seven at-bats against the soon-to-be Guardians this year, he has four hits (2 HR) and a 2.054 OPS. He could homer twice today and I wouldn’t be surprised.

FanDuel

Sam Hilliard (L), OF COL ($2,000) - Hilliard is at the minimum price on FanDuel tonight and there’s legitimate upside. Against southpaws this year, he’s 3-for-9 with two home runs, good for a 1.455 OPS. Strikeouts against lefties have been a problem (4 K’s in 9 at-bats), but Los Angeles’ José Suarez (L) has just an 8.1 K/9 on the year and left-handed hitters have poised a .423 wOBA against him. At minimum price, I’ll take a dart throw on Hilliard this evening. UPDATE: I won’t be taking that dart throw on Hilliard, as he isn’t starting this evening.

Yoán Moncada (B), 3B CWS ($2,800) - Moncada has a .281 average and .368 wOBA against Brad Keller (R) in his career, including two round-trippers. The corner infielder has also hit righties in general at a .272 clip this year, and he’s hit safely in 10 of his last 11 contests. He has a .789 OPS against Kansas City pitching this year in general and over the last two weeks, his OPS sits at .889.

DraftKings

Eloy Jiménez (R), OF CWS ($2,500) - Jimenez returned last night and went 0-for-4, and he’s cheap again this evening. I avoided last night because typically on a player’s return, everyone jumps to roster him, so I expected ownership to be elevated. Perhaps after an 0-fer, we get good ownership numbers on him in a great matchup. Kansas City’s Brad Keller (R) has allowed a .301 batting average to right-handed hitters and back in 2020, Jimenez hit .298 with a .898 OPS versus righties.

Harrison Bader (R), OF STL ($2,500) - Using the projections feature at dfsalarm.com, Bader is one of the best value players of the day on DraftKings. On a point per dollar basis, only Eloy Jiménez (R) and Kole Calhoun (L) rank more favorably than Bader! The St. Louis outfielder has hit righties at a .294 clip this year and has actually hit for a .308 average with a home run every 13 at-bats on the road in 2021. Cal Quantrill (R) is a sneaky starter today, but Bader and O’Neill are about to do some damage tonight.
