A DeVante Parker sighting highlights this week’s Football Week That Was.

DeVante Parker :  I was beginning to think Parker was aboard the Minnow with Gilligan, the Skipper, Ginger, Marianne and the Professor too.  But no, he has been found! Parker re-emerged Thursday night hauling in 6 balls for 134 yards – that is 19+ PPR points even without hitting paydirt.  Not too shabby. The question is what next? Well, Albert Wilson is out for the year, Kenny Still is nicked up, Danny Amendola is tough but always nicked up and we cannot get too excited about Jakeem Grant can we?   So . . . Parker is once a gain a fantasy football buy! There is no question about the raw talent. The question is staying healthy (he is healthy now) and his relationship with the team (recent reports are he will not be traded).  Conclusion: Parker is a rare bird (or fish in this case) – a team’s WR1 sitting on many waiver wires. Remedy that. [Note – Jets, Packers, Colts and Bills are Parker’s next four opponents. I will just say . . . Yep. Yep.]

Jack Doyle :  Jack Doyle returned and provided immediate value hauling in 6 of 7 targets for 70 yards and a TD.  With the roster crunch of bye weeks and injuries, many cut Jack Doyle (he was out 5 of the 7 weeks of the year before Sunday so I understand why people cut Doyle – even I had to do the same in a couple of leagues).  What I will not be able to understand is people not bidding big to add him back to their rosters. In the two full games he has played this year, he has 14 receptions on 17 targets and 130 yards. Strong. Oh, and remember, this is the same guy who hauled in 80 catches with Jacoby Brissett at QB.  With the Colts on bye, people will be sleeping on Jack Doyle . Grab him now and you will be glad you did (especially if you reach your fantasy football Super Bowl as he gets the lowly Giants that week!)

Marlon Mack :   Marlon Mack was awesome Sunday running for 132 yards on 25 carries and hitting paydirt twice.  Oh, and he added 2 catches for 17 yards for a total of almost 29 PPR points. Yes, they will not always get to play the Raiders but if he continues to get 25+ touches as the Colts seek to protect Andrew Luck , big time points are in his future for the second half of the season.  Ride this horse as long as you can (and if he gets to week 16 against the Giants, well, yeah, that would be nice!) [Note – with the Colts on bye week 9, a desperate owner needing to fill holes might be willing to sell. Explore that.]

Adrian Peterson :  Last week we wrote: “anyone who thinks All Day is done, go watch the film of Sunday’s Cowboys game.  Peterson ran hard and proved he is still tough to tackle, carrying the ball 24 times for 99 yards and adding a catch for 8 yards.  With a sweet schedule upcoming – Giants, Falcons, Buccaneers – Peterson is a great target for those looking to improve their fantasy football team for the second half.  Buy!” Wow, All Day was great All Day against the Giants. Forget the 26 carries for 149 yards. Forget the two TD. Just watch the tape. This is a guy is breaking tackles, running hard and at 33 years of age a running back who still has that extra gear to flat out run defenders in the open field.  Given that Alex Smith will not open up the offense, the receivers are not really worthy of opening up the offense and All Day is running like it is 2008 not 2018, feel free to pay full value in a deal for the future Hall of Famer. Convinced yet? You should be.

Kenyan Drake :  Last week we wrote: “The long-awaited return of Kenyan Drake ’s production happened Sunday as the Dolphins RB posted 18.7 PPR points with 72 yards rushing, 4 catches for 15 yards and a rushing TD.  This game will not make you forget the Todd Gurley s and Kareem Hunt s of the world but is pretty darn solid. However, as nice at almost 19 fantasy points are – and they are – the fact that the Fish only gave Drake 10 touches and the fact that they have Minn and Jax in the fantasy playoffs tells me that now would be a good time to sell if you can.  [Note, as with the Cowboys, the Dolphins stubborn refusal to feature their most prolific offensive weapon in both the passing and running game just boggles the mind].” Well, I hope you did not sell high just yet as Drake put up 95 total yards, two TD and two receptions. That is a sweet 23+ PPR points and 42+ in the last two weeks. Like with Parker, Jets, Packers, Colts and Bills are Drake’s next four opponents.  Get a couple of more big games then do the sell high thing before the tough fantasy playoff matchups.

Final Note:  I have no idea why David Njoku disappeared.  None. That said, I will not run away from the fact that I got that one VERY wrong.  The fact that many others in the industry whiffed here too does not make me feel better.   Maybe whoever takes over in Cleveland will find Njoku and restore him to the Browns offense.
