Kenny Golladay becoming the Lions number one option highlights this week’s Football Week That Was.

Kenny Golladay Kenny Golladay had himself a nice day Sunday as the Lions beat the rival Packers.  Golladay hauled in four receptions for 98 yards and a TD.  Yes, Golden Tate and Marvin Jones are good but Stafford seems to be favoring Golladay more and more.  Sunday he lead the team in targets and is clearly the “mini-megatron, look for him first in the end zone guy” for Stafford.  The price is still likely less than the value so pounce while you can.  The Lions are on bye in Week 6 – a great time to make a deal for a player below value!

Isaiah Crowell Isaiah Crowell ran all over the Broncos Sunday to the tune of 219 yards and a TD.  Great work by Crowell and congrats to those who started him in season-long or DFS.  However, after you finish patting yourself on the back, slow your roll.  Crowell is not a break-away back (his 6.8 yards per carry this year is two full yards per carry better than his best ever season), has not rushed for 1,000 yards in any of his four prior NFL campaigns, was out-touched by Bilal Powell , and has the Vikings and the Bears in two of the next three weeks.  This is the ultimate sell high candidate.  The only question is whether you risk holding him for the Indy game.  I do not as his value will never be higher.

Russell Wilson :  Russell Wilson threw for 3 TD in the loss Sunday.  That is the good news.  The bad news is that he threw for under 200 yards and registered zero (yes, zero) rushing yards.  The 2018 version of Dange-Russ is where fantasy and reality diverge.  Do I want Wilson as a real-life QB on my team?  Heck, yeah.  Is the fantasy QB overvalued?  No question.  Everyone harps about how he has been one of the top fantasy QBs over the last few years.  True.  However, in those years, he rushed for an average of over 500 yards per year which added a ton of fantasy value.  This year through 5 games, Russ is averaging 8 rushing yards per game.  Yes, 8.  Now is the time to sell high if people still remember that guy who rushed for 800+ yards a few years ago.

LeSean McCoy :   LeSean McCoy tallied over 100 yards from scrimmage Sunday with his 24 carries and two receptions.  Hardly world-beating but a sign of things to come.  Remember, volume is king in fantasy football and the Bills need Shady to take the pressure off of Josh Allen .  Is Shady still a plug and play RB1?  No.  Is he undervalued in fantasy now?  Yes.  Houston is up next and has a tough run defense that made things tough on Zeke Sunday night.  However, Zeke did fantasy damage catching 7 balls out of the backfield.  I think Shady does that and more, thus providing sneaky value in PPR leagues in week 6.

Julio Jones :  Are we tired of making fantasy football excuses for this great talent yet?  At this point, you own him, you are stuck with him as you cannot sell low but ugh, in what should have been a big offensive day for the Falcons, Julio puts up a WR5 stat line of five for 62.  Ugh.

Melvin Gordon :  Last week we wrote: “Enough about he is not that good he just gets volume.  Volume plus results equals fantasy football goodness. Gordon put up 159 yards from scrimmage Sunday adding 7 grabs and a TD for approximately 29 PPR points.  What is the problem?  He is averaging eight targets per game so even in the tough rushing days (if there are any), the PPR points will be there.  With Oakland and Cleveland next up (they demolished each others’ defenses last week), what is not to love?  Buy!”  Well, after 120 yards from scrimmage, four receptions and a TD – worth 22 PPR points – I hope you see the point that Gordon is a solid plug and play RB1 every week.  With Cleveland on the schedule next, plug, play, repeat.

Final Note: Sorry about the Corey Davis and Tyler Boyd disappointments last week.  Good news is there is some buy low opportunity as both those guys will bounce back.
