Another week means another opportunity to sit in judgment of Jeff Mans!  I have poured over Jeff’s rankings and opinions and, well, let us see how he did.  Oh, and as usual, I will pepper this piece with a few of my own masterpieces and pieces of [use a word for dung] from the past week.

Here is the 2015 Week 7 edition of Right, Wrong or Indifferent:

RIGHT

Todd Gurley:  Maestro Mans was dead on when he penned:  “There is not a worse run defense than the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have given up the most yards (899) & YPC (5.0) as well as the fifth-most fantasy points to RBs and have the worst run defense rating according to PFF. Gurley's 305 rushing yards in the last two games is the second most ever by a rookie RB.”  Just... wow. Gurley is as good as Mr. Mans said and as many believed when he was the top back taken in the draft.  This week, Gurley notched 163 total yards, two TD and added four catches.   If you followed Jeff’s advice here, you did quite well.  Gurley is a must own almost every week.

Philip Rivers:  Mr. Mans was spot on regarding the Chargers gunslinger.  Jeff wrote: “Rivers is red hot right now and is the NFL's leading passer (yards). The Chargers defense is so bad that game script calls for a very back and forth contest with a high expected point total. Raiders defense is sixth worst at pass coverage according to PFF.”  336 with three TD is a win for Jeff and those who started Rivers.  With 1550 passing yards over the last four games, Rivers has shown that he is fantasy gold.  I am quite sure Jeff (and I for that matter) will be advocating rostering Rivers when he faces off against the Ravens next week.

Rams DST:  Jeff is looking good here as he wrote about the Rams DST:  “I am going to own the Rams DST in probably 100 percent of ALL contests this week. They are at home, coming off of a bye and facing off against Josh McCown. Big things ahead for the Rams DST this week.”  Twenty-five points on FanDuel and DraftKings is a sweet score from your DST.  Bravo Jeffrey!

Darren McFaddenOk, one for me.  I have been pushing in writing, on the radio and to whoever will listen that the Cowboys need to turn the running game over to Darren McFadden.  Well, they did that this week.  The result:  162 total yards, one TD, two catches and a second TD erased on a bogus bad call that would have put him at about 200 total yards.  McFadden ran hard, showed both speed around the edge and toughness on the short yardage runs, and even saved Matt Cassel’s bacon with a few great blitz pickups.  I know many laughed when Rick Wolf and Stacie Stern took DMC in the second round back in June.  Well, the player the world saw today knew how to use that offensive line and hit holes quickly rather than dance a jig.  Many will be spending heavily to do what Rick and Stacie did in June – get some DMC!

WRONG

Landry Jones:   Well, now for the other side of the coin.  This Mans prediction hardly came to pass:  “We'll have to be sure that Jones will get the start for the Steelers this week. Ben Roethlisberger is listed as questionable but it’s an extreme long shot that he plays this week. The Chiefs have given up the third-most fantasy points to QBs and it won't take much for Jones to pay off 3x his salary this week.”  209 yards, only one TD, two INT and negative-two on the ground is not getting it done. Gong!  Get off the stage.  Of course, it is likely Big Ben returns next week so the Landry fantasy experiment should go back in the drawer.

Willie Snead:  I think Jeff got Snead fever when he wrote “Snead has become a PPR dream in recent weeks and with Drew Brees now healthy the Saints offense is back on track. Snead draws the "non-Vontae Davis" CB matchup in Darius Butler this week who ranks 94th in PFF's CB ratings.”  Three catches for 25 yards has spread the rotten egg smell all over your fantasy team.   Yes, Snead had some good games, but today is a reminder that Cooks is the No. 1 guy in New Orleans and that Snead, while he seemed exciting, still has only one TD in seven weeks.  Temper the enthusiasm.

Matt Jones:   Jeff booted this grounder when he said:  “That is right, I am back at it with my boy Matt Jones. Redskins RB Chris Thompson is out with a back injury this week and Jones is healthy after missing last week with a toe injury. Jones has already been the Redskins' goal line RB since Week 2 and head coach Jay Gruden says that Jones will now be the team's passing down RB as well. You simply cannot beat this price across the board for a player with this much upside. The Buccaneers have the third-worst run defense in the NFL according to PFF's ratings.”  Well, Jeff, stop going back to your boy.  Jones again disappointed by logging 51 total yards and not hitting pay dirt.   Jones has had only one game in which he has rushed for more than 38 yards.  He is just too risky at this point.

Danny Woodhead:  In all fairness, I have to look in the mirror and scold myself at least once.  I was skittish about any Charger not named Rivers this week – including telling some followers not to start Danny Woodhead.  100-plus yards, 11 catches and two TD says I got that dead wrong.  The fact that most of Woody’s production came in garbage time hardly matters to fantasy owners.  With the Chargers apparently unable to play defense, Woody will see a ton of fantasy points – at least until they are not playing from behind.  #shouldhaveknownbetter.

INDIFFERENT

Donte Moncrief:  Jeff noted: Moncrief will be lined up primarily against the worst CB in the NFL (109/109) in Brandon Browner according to PFF. Luck and Moncrief have great chemistry and the price here makes him a no brainer for cash games this week.”  I will call this one a wash.  Four catches for 34 yards is not what Jeff expected but the TD made Moncrief productive.  His targets are all over the map – ranging from three to 11 in any given week.  That makes him hard to rely upon.  Proceed with caution.

Ladarius Green:   Jeff was pretty high on the Chargers TE:  “Antonio Gates is questionable for Sunday's game due to what has been diagnosed as an MCL sprain in his knee. Therefore I really doubt that Gates will be able to go this week. Green steps in for an incredibly low price (especially on DK) against the defense that has given up the most fantasy points to TEs this season.”  Well, just like Moncrief, a TD converted this prediction from a Wrong to an Indifferent.  Four catches for 45 yards hardly turns anyone on but that TD made him attractive enough given his price.  With Gates likely back when the Bolts next play, Green is not likely to crack your lineup again any time soon.

Chris Ivory:  About Ivory, Jeff penned as follows:  “Ivory has been crazy good this year and he currently ranks third in the NFL in rushing and first in yards per carry. The Patriots are struggling to stop the run when challenged as they give up the third-highest YPC and rank fifth-worst in run defense according to PFF this year.”  Seventeen carries for 41 yards is pretty weak considering the faith Jeff had in Ivory and the production Ivory has bestowed upon his owners.  However, that TD reception saved the day.  Was he effective?  No.  Did the TD make up for that ineffectiveness?  Somewhat.  Bottom line:  Indifferent!  Of course, Ivory looks pretty good for next week with the Oakland Raiders on the schedule.

Ok, let’s use what we learned and win in Week 8.  Good luck!
