Point Guard

All eyes will be on Ricky Rubio after his massive double-double performance against the Wizards. He has another favorable matchup against the Celtics and while he won’t score 22 points again, Rubio is still a triple-double threat.

George Hill has had a fantastic season with the Jazz; unfortunately, it has been derailed by numerous injuries. But he’s healthy again and Hill can be trusted today in a positive matchup against the Pistons.

Jordan Clarkson is a fine option in both formats, but I even feel comfortable rolling him out in cash. There’s some blowout potential here, but Clarkson should still see minutes in the low 30’s. He’s not going to be under $6,000 for much longer and the Lakers, Celtics game should be one of the highest scoring games of the night.

Jason Kidd has stated that he believes Malcolm Brogdon should be rookie of the year, while that’s probably not going to happen, this just reassures Brogdon’s workload will only increase as we near the end of the season. Brogdon’s under $5,000 and if he plays 30 minutes, he should hit value.

Shooting Guard

Bradley Beal has been rolling lately, but his price has also climbed to $7,700. He’s out of tournament contention for me, but feel free to roll him out in cash games. Beal is playing heavy minutes and shooting at will. It would be a big surprise to see Beal score below 30, so he won’t kill you.

Devin Booker is my top SG play of the day. He’s facing a weak Sactown defense and Booker has shot the ball 20-plus times in three straight games. Eric Bledsoe’s minutes are being scaled back due to his past injury issues and his age. Booker has been given the keys to the offense and he should destroy the Kings tonight.

Jeremy Lamb will log another start today while Nicolas Batum recovers from a head injury. Lamb’s mainly just a scorer but he has been killing it nearly every time he starts. He’s not cheap, but there are few SGs around his price that are worth playing over him.

Small Forward

Paul George has been pretty successful against the Hornets this year as he’s averaging 40 fantasy points per game over their last three meetings. With Nicolas Batum out, it’s unclear what the Hornets will elect to do defensively. Even if solid defender Michael Kidd-Gilchrist covers PG-13, there’s not much to worry about.

T.J. Warren arguably has the easiest matchup of the night against the Kings who have given up the second-most fantasy points to opposing SFs over the last four weeks. As stated earlier, the Suns are all-aboard the young movement so Warren’s minutes and workload are safe. He’s a great cash play today.

The rest of the SF plays are pretty ugly and I’d rather just play one of the two aforementioned players. However, Andrew Wiggins and Gordon Hayward are in decent spots and can be considered in tournaments. Both have been struggling a bit as of late but they should turn it around soon.

Power Forward

Blake Griffin’s price has dropped below the $8,000 threshold and that’s an indicator to hop on the Griffin train. His ownership should also be relatively low due to his recent performance. He’s the best option at PF today for tournaments.

Marvin Williams has been absolutely dominating over his last four games and nobody on Earth was expecting this. He’s scored 40, 47,48, and 50 fantasy points in his last four games, respectively. I can’t see this keeping up especially with a tough matchup against Thaddeus Young. It’s a solid fade spot in GPPs, but Williams should still hit cash value.

James Johnson is in play against the Pelicans despite the big lineup. Johnson is a solid defender but it’s unclear how the Heat plan on slowing down the AD-Cousins combo. Either way, JJ should see minutes in the 27-32 range.

The Lakers have been the worst team against opposing PFs and it’s not even close. They’ve given up a whopping 60 FPPG and Ryan Anderson is licking his chops. You have to be careful with this game because the Rockets could end this game by the third quarter, but having some Ryno exposure isn’t a bad idea.

Center

Hassan Whiteside is my top center play of the day. His injury issues are long gone and he has a favorable matchup against the massive Pelicans lineup. He should be on the floor for 33-36 minutes. Whiteside could eclipse 50 fantasy points tonight.

Clint Capela is also in play against the miserable frontcourt of the Lakers. Capela rarely eclipses 30 minutes, but he still manages to score 25-30 fantasy points per game on a nightly basis. He’s the most likely candidate to destroy the Lakers right out of the gate.

Ivica Zubac is going to be the starting center for the remainder of the season. Even if the Rockets blow out the Lakers, Zubac should still get his run. He’s arguably a better play than Capela because of the Vegas spread.
