Point Guard

I typically stay away from Westbrook when he’s $13,000 or more unless there’s a ton of value to pick from. However, he’s $12,900 tonight and he may be without his backcourt mate Victor Oladipo. Westbrook is coming off a massive 72-fantasy-point performance and he’s going to feast against the Pelicans. He’s an excellent play if you can build a formidable roster around him.

If you can’t pay up for Westy, join me and play CP3. Chris Paul was not limited whatsoever in his return and it’s safe to assume Paul will see 30-33 minutes against the Hornets. He’s a $9,000 price level player but he’s just $8,300 so take advantage of the discount!

Cory Joseph will certainly be the chalk value play of the day if Kyle Lowry is out again. Embrace the chalk. There’s not a ton of value on today’s slate, so you’ll be hard pressed to find a safer value play than Joseph.

I’d typically list a fourth player here, but I love all three of these guys tonight and it’d be wise to have heavy exposure on all three.

Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan’s price jumped up to $8,800 after the Kyle Lowry injury and career-high in scoring for DeRozan in his last game. He has another decent matchup against the Blazers and he’s only in play if Lowry sits. He sees a 7 percent increase in usage rate when Lowry is off the floor.

Jrue Holiday is a very intriguing play today, but I doubt I’ll be able to squeeze him into any of my lineups. He has a hefty price tag of $7,000 and with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins playing, it’s a tough purchase. However, he should play 37-40 minutes and he’ll also be low owned.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is arguably one of the most frustrating DFS plays on a nightly basis. He’s a shooter, so of course he’ll have his ups and downs. The Celtics will push the pace in this game and that bodes well for Pope’s value. He could get you 55 or 19 so tread carefully…

The Pelicans are dangerously thin on the wing and E’Twaun Moore appears ready to return to action. He’s obviously not a high usage guy, but he’s only $4,000 and should play around 30 minutes. If you want to play Westy, Moore could find his way into your lineups.

Small Forward

The SF position is the ugliest position of the day and it’s not very close. This slate as a whole is just ugly, but there are a couple of guys I don’t mind at the SF spot. One being Wilson Chandler. If Kenneth Faried sits, I’ll likely play Chandler a bit more but he’s still a decent play regardless. He’s a scoring machine and a starting role will only benefit Chandler.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist may be one of the highest owned SFs on the slate today so that should be everything you need to know about the slate. He’s just $5,200 and he’s been playing great ball as of late. He’s not a scorer, but he is a double-double threat each and every night. Give him a look as a decent value option.

Andre Roberson’s offense has picked up over the last few games as he’s scored in double digits in three of his last six games. While that’s typically not worth noting, that’s a rarity for Mr. Roberson. He has recorded at least seven rebounds in six of his last seven games so he’s finding ways to hit value.

P.J. Tucker is also in play, but I won’t have high exposure to him. He had a decent debut for the Raptors and he’s well worth a look. However, I’d rather pay the extra few hundred bucks for MKG or save a bit and go for Roberson. Tucker should score between 20-25 FP today.

Power Forward

Anthony Davis is coming off a monster game and DMC took a backseat. Oddly enough, it was the reverse in their first game together, so this is shaping up to be a frustrating fantasy situation. AD has done well against OKC thus far in thee 2016-17 season and he’s a great play on both FD and DK considering he’s under $10,000 one each site.

Blake Griffin remains an excellent play even with Chris Paul back. He’s only $8,600 and I’d much rather play him than Davis. Neither Marvin Williams or Frank the Tank are capable of stopping Blake Griffin and he should have a huge game today.

Speaking of Frank the Tank, Frank Kaminsky is arguably the top mid-tier play of the day. He’s only $6,500 despite lighting it up lately. The Clippers have been surprisingly vulnerable to opposing centers and Kaminsky did score 43 fantasy points a couple weeks ago against the Clippers.

Yup, another Charlotte big man. Marvin Williams is $4,900 and he’s a fine play in cash games today. He will rarely crush value, but he also rarely misses value. He’s fairly consistent and his price is more than affordable. The matchup is average, but we just need an average game from Williams for him to hit value.

Center

Andre Drummond has something against the Boston Celtics. Not actually, but he goes off nearly every time he plays them. I can’t fade Drummond tonight and he’ll certainly be one of the highest-owned centers of the night.

Rudy Gobert is one of my favorite plays on a nightly basis and there’s nothing different tonight against the Wizards. He’s more of a cash option for me rather than a tournament play. Gobert has scored below 33 fantasy points just once over his last 10 games. In that game, he scored 32.5… Is that safe enough for you???

Steven Adams is going to play heavy minutes in this game against the massive Pelicans frontcourt. There is some blowout potential here, but I’m expecting a big game from Adams. He’s $6,300 and Enes Kanter is back, but I think he’ll go overlooked here. Give Adams a look in both formats.
Jusuf Nurkic exploded in his debut for the Blazers as he recorded 44 fantasy points. He also played 34 minutes which is perhaps the biggest takeaway. It’s only one game, but it’s hard not to get excited. He has some foul issues and stamina problems, but he’s still a low-risk option at his low price of $5,600. He’s going to be very high owned especially on DK, but that doesn’t mean you have to fade him.
