A split slate for Saturday that provides us with pitching during the day, and hitting in the evening.

The early slate Houston/Yankees game has already been postponed, but the rest of the games look good to go.   As usual, games in Colorado are in play for stacking, as well as a few other games tonight with high projected run totals that aren’t mentioned below with the A’s/Rangers being one of them.

As always, things can change based on lineups and weather, so do stay up to date using the Playbook Pro tools.  Below are my favorite stack options for the day.  Good luck!

Stacks for Saturday, May 13

Reds @ Giants

While there are some great pitchers going early, the full team stack route may be hard if paying up at pitcher.  I’m hoping once lineup

s come out that you’ll be able to find a cheap player that isn’t on Tampa Bay to roster.  For now, I’ll take the matchup featuring a Triple-A call up, vs a 1-4 with a 6.52 ERA starter.

Matt Moore pitched decent for the Giants last outing, but is someone I want to pick on this afternoon.  He has given up a home run in every home start this season, and facing a Reds team hitting .277 versus starting pitchers this season (Rank: 3rd of 30 in MLB; League Avg: .252).  Also, don’t be scared of a lefty/lefty matchup here, as left-handed batters are hitting .378 against Matt Moore this season (Rank: 130th of 134 qualified SPs in MLB; League Avg: .251)

As mentioned above, the Reds called up Lisalverto Bonilla, who has only one appearance with the Reds this season, allowing four earned runs in five innings.  The Giants have been off to a slow start, and have only scored 21 runs over their last eight games. Giants hitters only have a well-hit average of just .108 in righty-righty matchups this season (Rank: 30th of 30 in MLB).  Their price tags aren’t horrible, and can fit them in with low ownership levels..

With last night’s game going 17 innings, they may let their starters work a little more today even if they struggle early, which I hope happens.

Top Stack Suggestions:

Giants: Buster Posey, Christian Arroyo, Hunter Pence, Brandon Crawford

Reds:  Joey Votto, Adam Duvall, Scott Schebler, Jose Peraza

*Alternative to this Stack: 2-3  player mini-stacks from Indians, Blue Jays, and Cubs

Padres paired with Arizona

You can easily pair either of these teams with their opponents for a full game stack, but like idea of having exposure to both of these game’s favorites this way.

Arizona will be a popular team to target outside of Coors Field tonight, as they face Trevor Williams from the Pirates.  He’s been used as mainly a relief pitcher, and has given up three HR’s and eight hits over his past two appearances, which only lasted five combined innings.  Arizona continues to lead the league with a batting average of .301 at home this season (MLB; League Avg: .255).  My issue with them is they come with higher price tags outside of Peralta, and any player has the chance for a big game.  Being able to enter multiple lineups with exposure to many Arizona combo’s would be my ideal option, but below would identify my top four.

The Padres are paired with the D-Backs to grab some cheaper bat options vs. a weak pitcher in Dylan Covey for the White Sox.  He ranks dead last or very close to that in multiple areas this season, and still looking for his first win.  Covey has allowed at least two long balls in three of his past four starts, and has allowed an OBP of .516 vs right-handed batters this season (Rank: 159th of 159 qualified SPs in MLB; League Avg: .318).  Combine that with a 4.8

% strikeout rate of right-handed batters (Rank: 159th of 159 qualified SPs in MLB), and you have some nice Padres to target today at a cheap price.

Top Stack Suggestions:

Arizona:  Jake Lamb, Paul Goldschmidt, David Peralta, Brandon Drury

San Diego: Matt Szczur, Hunter Renfroe, Erick Aybar, Austin Hedges

*Alternative to this stack:  Phillies @ Nationals or Mets @ Brewers

Washington

Can go a full game stack with the Phillies as well, but like the Nationals, who are hungry to get back to playing again after back-to-back rainouts.  Philly is sending Nicholas Pivetta to the mound, who will be facing these Nats for the second straight time.  Last time, he gave up three long balls, including one to Strasburg.  The three brought his total to four HR’s and 18 hits allowed through 10 innings for Pivetta.  The one walk over his last 48 batters faced is nice, but that means the Nats should be able to put the ball in play tonight, as opponents have a line drive rate of 40.0% against Pivetta.  If the Nats do get on base, their hitters have an OBP of .405 with runners on base this season (Rank: 1st of 30 in MLB; League Avg: .332).  My hope is they get a few nice hits to fill the bases before they add on to their 55 team home runs already produced this season.

Top Stack Suggestions:  Bryce Harper, Daniel Murphy, Anthony Rendon, Jayson Werth

Secondary Targets:  Trea Turner, Adam Lind, Michael Taylor, Jose Lobaton

Alternative to this stack:  Selection of Dodger/Rockies with a cheap top of the order bat when lineups come out.
