Catcher

Cash Play:  I’ll take the discount with Jonathan Lucroy vs the lefty Miranda tonight.  Texas destroyed the lefty Paxton last night, and do not believe their offense folds tonight.  Lucroy went deep last night, and has hit safely in eight of past nine games.  Of course, if you have the salary Buster Posey is a top play at Coors tonight.  He’s 11-39 with 2 HR’s lifetime vs De La Rosa.  I think Lucroy has just a good of a matchup and Posey has been struggling like all Giants and best used for gpp’s.

GPP plays:  Lucroy and Posey are in play as part of their team stacks, but also don’t mind taking Welington Castillo vs the rookie.  Stewart did shut down the Cubs, but doesn’t have elite stuff.  Castillo hasn’t homered in over a month, but Yadier Molina went deep last night to give him three HR’s over his last five games.  He has at least two hits in four of last six games.

Value Plays: I can see some opting to take Molina in cash, but don’t see anyone I like currently at a cheaper price.  Of course, keep an eye out for lineups.

First Base

Cash Plays:  Anthony Rizzo and Miggy were the personal preference plays at first last night, with Rizzo continuing his dominance over Brewer’s pitchers with a double dong night.  He faces Garza tonight, who he is 6-18 with a HR lifetime.  Tonight’s Miggy is Edwin Encarnacion, who faces a pitcher making his season debut tonight.  He is 5-9 with a HR in the series vs the Yanks, and like him as a cheaper option than Rizzo on DK.

GPP Plays:  If not looking at the two above, Paul Goldschmidt would be the best pivot play option.  You can pair him with Castillo and even Pollack for a nice low owned option.  The Cards also make for a nice gpp option with either Moss or Adams. Would prefer the cheaper Adams.

Value Play:  Two cheaper options that are high risk/ high reward plays if the top guys fold are Marwin Gonzalez and Josh BellGonzalez took Kluber deep last night, and has taken Carrasco deep in the past.  He’s also swinging a hot bat with three doubles and a homer over his last two starts.  Bell has cooled off since his hot start, but still gets to bat before the big Pitt bats, who finally woke up yesterday.

Second Base

Cash plays:   Second base is loaded tonight, but you can’t deny what Brian Dozier is accomplishing.  He went deep for the 5th straight game in seventh in last nine games. His price tag is up there on DK and FD, but if his name was Harper or Donaldson with his current hitting streak, Dozier’s price would be even higher.  Must play on Aces for me tonight.

GPP plays: There are multiple pivot options from Dozier for tourneys, and can make the proceed with caution fading Dozier case to use a few of them in cash games as well.  Daniel Murphy is 3-4 of Foltynewicz, and coming off a three hit game in the series opener.   Jason Kipnis is 12-25 off Fister, and works well paired with Lindor.    Robinson Cano is 4-10 with a HR of Griffin, and on a nice 10 game hit streak, with homers in two of last three games.  Matt Carpenter may have broken out of a 2-20 slump with a pinch hit homer in the ninth last night, and may be the lowest owned out of the players listed above.

Value Plays:  So FD still does not like Dee Gordon, and you don’t need much for him to come through at his price there.  Hard to fade any listed above, but Gordon would be the one on FD.  The Marlins are slowly getting healthy again.

Third Base

Cash Plays:  Of course, Nolan Arenado and Josh Donaldson are top plays, and can even throw Kris Bryant in there, but I feel you can save a little with Adrian Beltre on FD.  The lefty crusher has been key in the Ranger’s offense lately, and has reached base safely in 12 of his last 13 games.  On DK, feel free to take the discount with Anthony Rendon.  He’s 1-3 with a HR off Foltynewicz, and went deep last night to extend his hit streak to six.

GPP plays: A pivot off Rendon would be Justin TurnerHe’s reached base safely in six straight, and should be low owned compared to Rendon.  Donaldson would be my favorite pivot play for gpp’s over Beltre if spending up.

Value Play:  On Aces, finding a 3K guy to open up salary is always nice, and Yoan Mancada fits the mold if starting.  Please know that is comes with a risk as he is 0-7 with 7 K’s his last two games.  There may be better 3K players out there on Aces, but not Tapia anymore.

Shortstop

Cash Plays:  SS is a tough one today I feel.  Jonathan Villar and Francisco Lindor are both nice options with Lindor being the cheaper on DK, and the same price on FD.  On Aces, I’m going with two 2B for sure in cash.  Villar was a double away from the cycle last night, and Montgomery is a Cub pitcher that you can target.  Over his last seven games, Lindor has two hits in four of them, a four hit game, and two O’fers.  Neither are must plays by any means, but are my top two SS as of now.  Hopefully, a value punt play becomes available when lineups come out.

GPP Plays: First, I’m playing Trea Turner in 2B/SS on Aces paired with Murphy in at least one gpp.  If going a Texas stack, Elvis Andrus should be part of it.  He has a great price on FD, coming off a four hit game for all XBH’s, and has scored a run in five straight games.

Value Play:  Outside of Elvis, you also can take an early look at Addison RussellHe should have plenty of opportunities if batting in the sixth spot tonight.  A higher risk play would be Dansby Swanson, who hit an inside the park homer last night for his first career HR.

Outfield

Outfield is always stacked so merging them into one group.  While most of the top OF plays can be a personal preference, it’s hard to fade Raimel Tapia and his cheap price tag at Coors.  Last night was his first game without a hit, but still scored points with a SB, RBI, Run, and walk.  Hunter Pence has killed me lately, and think I will use him in gpp only, and roll with Jose Bautista if paying up.  He is looking for his first XBH in September, and believe he receives that tonight.  I like all the Brewers OF options tonight, with, if starting, my favorites being Hernan Perez and Domingo SantanaPerez went 4-5 with a SB last night, while the minimum price Santana is 6-10 with 2 HR’s in his last two games.  I like the Rangers OF even more than the Brewers with Delino DeShields having a great price tag if leading off.  Both Beltran and Desmond are in play, but more of gpp targets for me.  Alex Gordon, Odubel Herrera, and Christian Yelich all have some nice BvP numbers with mid to low price tags.  Gordon is 9-22 with a HR off Gibson, and is now priced cheaper than Dyson.   Herrera is 4-6 with a HR of Cashner, and Yellich is 6-15 off Hellickson.  I like them best in that order.
