Even though there is a game at Coors field tonight, there are a few other teams that look to be great targets tonight in the Twins/Rangers game and the Cubs.  The Cubs run total jumped almost 2 runs higher this morning with what looks like a nice gust blowing out a Wrigley.  Due to this being a makeup game for them, the Cubs and Braves were not listed in the dashboard, but all of them are pretty much in play tonight.  My favorite stacks of the day of course are the Rookies and Cubs, but Cleveland checks in as my sneaky stack of the night.  Good luck!

Catcher

Cash Play:  Willson Contreras is one of the Cubs not listed, but very much in play tonight.  His price is still low enough to roster on FD, and is a HR threat every time he steps to the plate.  I am willing to pay up for Contreras on DK, but looking at Nick Hundley at Coors as well.  The salaries on DK for C are pretty similar for the players I like.  If Carlos Ruiz gets the start over Cameron Rupp then I like him as well.

GPP plays:  I really like Contreras for a DK gpp play, but if looking for lower owned options, I think targeting the Detroit/ Toronto game is the way to go for cathers.Russell Martin is fairly priced across the board, and is 6-18 with a HR off Verlander, On the other side of this game, Victor Martinez’s price is up there at Cather on FD, and feel he will be low owned tonight.  Since his 2 HR game on July 1st, V-Mart has only 1 XBH (Double) over his last five games, but is 4-9 lifetime vs Hutchison.

Value Plays: Yan Gomes makes for a nice value play again, but every time I list him he seems to be out.  If playing, using him in gpp’s as a punt, or in a Cleveland stack is not a bad option at all.

First Base

Cash Plays:  First base is a toss up tonight between the two 1B at Coors in Mark Reynolds and Tommy JosephBoth are power hitters that have not gone deep as much as they should have lately.  Both are similar priced, and will be leaning towards Reynolds.  On FD, I can see many skipping Coors and going towards Prince FielderAlthough his only 3 HR’s since early June have been off of Boston pitching, Prince is in a great matchup against Duffy who has allowed 6 HR’s over his last three starts.

GPP Plays:  I like Mike Napoli more on FD, and Justin Smoak more on DK as gpp plays tonight.  Santana’s price is much more than Napoli’s, and will stick with the discount.  He has taken Nova deep twice in the past as well.  Smoak is cheap on DK, and has even better numbers than Napoli, going 5-15 with 3 HR’s vs Verlander.  Anthony Rizzo is also in play for GPP’s, but price is very high.

Value Play:  While I’m not sure what his ownership will look like tonight, I like the spot Kennys Vargas is in tonight. He went deep last night, and should have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs tonight.  Will only roster him on FD though.

Second Base

Cash plays:  DJ LaMahieu will be the popular, as well as smart play on 2B for cash tonight.  He has 5 hits over his last two games, and should be batting second on the highest projected scoring team tonight. On Aces and DK, I can see people taking a look at Jose Altuve as well.  For just a little bit more salary, you are getting a player who crushes lefties, and has taken Hill deep in their last matchup.

GPP plays:  Altuve as well as the value plays I list are my favorite GPP plays, but will also be targeting Daniel MurphyIf you are in to weird stats, since June 25th, in every other game he played, Murphy has recorded 2 or more hits.  Last game it was the 0-4 night, so that should mean a 2 plus hit game.  Also, his last game vs the Mets he went deep twice.

Value Plays:  There really isn’t any minimum priced players I like, but on FD, Jason Kipnis is a steal at 2900.  He has hits in his last 16 of 18 games, and is 2 for 3 vs Nova in a small sample size.  At the same price on FD, but much cheaper on DK and Aces, Cesar Hernandez receives the Coors bump.  Not a huge fan of his if batting 8th though.

Third Base

Cash Plays:  Without a stud pitcher with a high price tag tonight, Nolan Arenado is the player that you should be paying up for tonight I feel.  He faces a lefty at Coors, and his last four hits have all went for extra bases with 2 doubles and 2 homers.  I don’t think there is another play as safe as Nolan will be tonight.

GPP plays:   If thinking of fading Nolan, your best bet to do so is in your gpp contests.   Kris Bryant, Josh Donaldson, and Maikel Franco are all top priced players, but all are ready to go deep tonight.  If had to choose, Bryant is my favorite.  Nick Castellanos has five hits over his last two games with 2 HR’s.  At a mid tier price, it’s worth taking a stab with the hot bat.

Value Play:  With plenty of top priced popular bats at third, there are also some minimum priced bats that could be higher owned than usual tonight.  Wilmer Flores is 9-21 with 4 HR’s over his last 5 games, and Ryan Schimpf has 2 hits in each of his last 3 games, going deep twice last night after homering the night before.  Neither are in the same boats they were in last series, but have shown great success lately at a cheap price.

Shortstop

Cash Plays:  If I said Nolan was above and beyond at third, I feel that Trevor Story is at a similar spot at SS tonight.  He is best suited for FD, but I do have some reservations about him due that he is 0 for his last 16.  If that scares you off, feel free to roll out Carlos Correa or Troy TulowitzkiCorrea has the tougher matchup, and would rather use him in gpp’s, but despite the hate on him, I like Tulu tonight.  Before going 0-4 with 4 K’s last game, Tulu was swinging a hot bat with a HR in 3 of his last 4 games.

GPP Plays:  GPP wise, I suggest using any of the above, but best bet is to use your SS to pair up with teammates.  My personal preference leans towards Story and Freddy Galvis.

Value Play:   The riskiest value play of the ones listed so far, but Alexi Rameriz fits the mold on FD and DK.  Once again he is a huge risk that probably isn’t worth it tonight, but wanted to provide a value play.  Hasn’t gone deep since his 2 HR game on June 1st.

Outfield

Cash Plays:  Feel free to roster your OF tonight with players from the Phillies/Rockies game as well as the Rangers.  The question is which way to go.  I think it all depends on which site you are playing.  Obudel Herrera is practically the top priced OF on some sites. I will be fading him, and going with Ryan Raburn, Charlie Blackmon, and Ian Desmond.  The lefty matchup for Blackmon shouldn’t matter as Morgan won’t last long.  Raburn comes with the most risk, but is a career lefty masher.  Just like Fielder, Desmond is in a prime spot to add to Duffy’s HRA total tonight.

GPP Plays:  In addition the ones listed above, the Indian’s OF make for nice targets, but come with a confusing price tag.  Rajai Davis as well as Tyler Nyquist are now much more expensive than Lonnie ChisenhallJayson Werth is worth a look a nice play to pair with Murphy.  He has reached base 10 times in 16 opportunities vs Colon.

Value Plays:  I don’t believe OF is a spot to punt tonight.  There are multiple routes to go tonight, and I think punting OF is not needed with better value spots at other positions.
