Welcome back to the Fantasy Alarm NFL Injury Report as we head into Week 17’s NFL Sunday! There are a few names to watch as far as injury concerns, so let’s discuss those here.

DeAndre Hopkins WR, AZ (Hip)

It was reported on Thursday that Hopkins was available to take the practice field, but only in a limited capacity. Hopkins did not partake in the Wednesday session of practice for the Cardinals as they prep for their Week 17 match against the Rams. Likely will come down to Friday’s practice reports, as we have seen multiple times this season where Hopkins has missed routine days off during the week as he recovers from gamedays. We will continue to be on the look-out for the practice reports out of Cardinals practice later today, and we advise you to do as well!

Chris Carson RB, SEA (Foot)

Carson was a limited practice participant for Thursday’s practice session as the Seahawks get ready to travel into San Francisco on Sunday afternoon to take on the Niners. Carson once again saw his practice reps capped this week, but this has become the norm for him this season, especially while still dealing with the foot ailment since Week 12 of the NFL season. The positive sign is that he was on the practice field in any capacity on Thursday, and as long as we don’t hear or read of any setbacks for him for Friday’s practice reports, he likely will have a legit shot at taking the field against the Niners on Sunday afternoon.

Cam Akers RB, LAR (Ankle)

Akers did not make it onto the practice field for the Rams when they practiced on Thursday of this week and has still yet to be able to practice since his last game in Week 15. The Rams have yet to rule Akers out for the Sunday match against the Cardinals, but not being able to practice in any capacity yet this week is not a good look. Likely Akers status will solely rely on if he is able to get in any work during Friday’s practice session, so we will continue to monitor the Rams practice reports to see if Akers is able to do so. If not, we will likely go ahead and suspect and expect that Akers likely won’t be available for Week 17. Update: Akers has been deemed a game-time decision for Sunday.

Leonard Fournette RB, TB (Abdomen)

Fournette is dealing with an abdominal issue and has been able to practice in limited capacities on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week. It likely could come down to which back will be healthy enough to play as the Buccaneers look to play the lowly Falcons at home on Sunday, as Ronald Jones is also still making his way back from the Covid-19 reserve list that he was placed on just two weeks ago. It was apparent that the last time Jones was able to play, Fournette was deemed a healthy scratch for that game, so we could also see that likely scenario here as well if Jones if a full-go. Be smart to keep an eye on practice reports out of Buccaneers practices for both running backs here.

Keke Coutee WR, HOU (Foot)

Coutee is dealing with a foot injury that was sustained in the Texans Week 16 loss to the Bengals. Coutee was listed as a limited participant in the Texan’s first walk-through for the week as they prepare to take on the Titans at home on Sunday afternoon. There have yet to be any new reports on his activity levels for Thursday’s practice session, so will likely need to see some improvement, or at least another limited session on Friday before being able to decide on Coutee’s status for Sunday.

DeVante Parker WR, MIA (Hamstring)

Parker is still dealing with a hamstring injury that has sidelined him since Week 14 of the NFL season. Parker was listed as limited in practice for the Dolphins on Friday as they set to prepare for the upcoming showdown in Buffalo on Sunday against the Bills. The good news here is that this game is set to kick-off at 1 PM ET, so we will most definitely have Parker’s availability set forth before the first kick on Sunday.

Matthew Stafford QB, DET (Ankle/Rib/Thumb)

As you can see above, Stafford is dealing with a plethora of injuries at the current moment and this has him listed as “questionable” to take the playing field on Sunday when the Lions play host to the visiting Vikings. Stafford was able to put in a limited practice session on Thursday and Friday, so this does bode well for his availability, and interim Head Coach Darrell Bevell said on Thursday that he has “no doubt” that Stafford will take the field on Sunday. However, he is still listed as “questionable” at the moment, so we will likely need to monitor his status heading into Sunday. This game does kick-off at 1 PM ET, so we will have this news before the games start.
