NASCAR DFS: Dixie Vodka 400 Playbook

We are back at it with a hot, slick, 1.5-mile track this Sunday with Homestead-Miami Speedway on the docket. This is typically the last race of the season with the championship on the line but heading into the 2020 season it was moved to the middle of March instead. That meant it was the second race canceled when the season shut down and that’s an important note as the weather is significantly different now in June than it would’ve been in March or certainly in November. The warmer weather will make the surface slicker, just like it was in Atlanta a week ago.

We have typically seen a couple of cars dominate the races here in terms of laps led but this week we might see a bit more of a split between dominator points because the championship isn’t on the line and thus there might be more drivers running up front than we’d typically see. Tire wear is a factor here but not as much of a factor as Atlanta but about equal to Auto Club and Darlington.

This race is pretty evenly split for me between Cash and GPP plays as most 1.5-mile tracks are typically. You can always feel free to play your cash lines in a GPP, that really worked out well at Martinsville on Wednesday, as the cash builds tend to be our most confident constructions.

Average Points By Starting Spots

This table shows the points scored by each starting spot over the last five races at this event on both sites and then ranks them for that site. This attempts to show how each spot has fared regardless of the driver that was starting in that spot for those races. It’s not a hard-and-fast rule but more of a tie-breaking tool but it also doesn’t take into account fluky on-track issues that may have arisen.
