The Action Track beckons this week for the second race of the playoffs. Short track racing under the lights for a third time this season and the three-quarter-mile track races a bit different than the other short tracks we’ve seen this year. It’s a tri-oval track just like any other that’s twice it’s size and it has multiple racing grooves, typically.
Tires are somewhat of a concern here but drivers can finish each of the first two stages without having to make a pit stop if they so choose and there are no cautions. In the April race, quite a lot of position differential happened and so that will be a key stat to focus on this week in addition to a laps led dominator. Strategy-wise we should treat this like a 1.5-mile track rather than a typical short track simply because that’s how the track behaves.
If you need more information on drivers you can check out the Track Breakdown, Practice Notes, and the Podcast.
Average Points Scored by Starting Position
These tables show the average points scored on both DK and FD from each starting position in this race over the last five years regardless of who started where. It is meant to be a guideline but not a hard a fast rule since anything can happen in any given race.
