It’s hard to believe that this is already the 12th race of the year at Darlington as last year when we came for the first time it was the first race back from the Covid break. Today’s race is the first of two stops at Darlington this year and this weekend’s race is 400 miles or 293 laps.

This race will be a bit different than others at Darlington with a different aero package on the cars this weekend than we’ve seen before here and so that will change the passing ability and possibly how the cars run up front.

For CASH builds we’re looking at focusing somewhat on PD though there is less PD in this lineup than we’ve seen in other weeks and combining that with a laps led leader while filling in with drivers who will finish high in the field. If you take a look at the points by position charts in the playbook (along with reading the playbook) you will see what has happened in the last five races here.

For GPP builds we’re looking at drivers starting near the top considering that this can be a track where passing in the top part of the field can be tough and in each of the last five races there has been at least one driver to lead 100 or more laps. The other thing to keep in mind is that in the last five races, there have been less than 18 drivers to finish on the lead lap four times so drivers starting too far back will be lapped quicker than we typically see at intermediate tracks.

As per usual, the top line for each site is the cash core and the second row for each site is the GPP or tournament core.
