Blake Snell was in full Snellzilla force last night as he completely shut down the Rockies. He pitched seven shutout innings and struck out a career high matching 13. The reigning AL Cy Young gave up just two hits (both singles) and walked one in the dominant outing. He picked up his first win of the year as the Rays went on to win the game 4-0. The lefty had a rough first start of the year as he gave up three home runs, five earned runs, and struck out just three over six innings of work. However, he quickly bounced back and as you will see in the video below he had everything working and was getting strikeouts with the full arsenal. This game will put his owner’s minds at ease if they were worried about him after one start.

Stolen Bases

Some notable names stole their base of the season, including: Adalberto Mondesi , Lorenzo Cain , Andrew Benintendi , and Jose Altuve . Tommy Pham stole his third base and Nick Ahmed swiped his second last night. There are now 13 players with at least two steals and remarkably not a single one of them has been caught stealing. They are a combined 31-for-31 and many of the names are from surprising:

 SB - 2019SB - 2018  SB - 2019SB - 2018  SB - 2019SB - 2018

News and Notes

Bryce Harper played his first game in DC since signing with the Phillies and he was met with a heavy dose of boos. The crowd went crazy after he struck out, but later in the game Harper homered and it had many Nats fans heading for the exits.

Trea Turner was hit in the finger on a bunt attempt and it resulted in a broken right index finger. He is out indefinitely and this is a huge blow to the Nationals and to Turner fantasy owners, especially since he was off to a white hot start.

Brandon Nimmo was also plunked on the hand and had to leave the game, but fortunately for him, the Mets, and his fantasy owners, the X-rays came back negative.

Ronald Acuna signed an eight year contract extension with the Braves. The deal is for $100 million and has two options that could push it to a 10 year deal.

Adalberto Mondesi had an inside-the-park home run as part of a three hit effort in a Royals loss.

Marco Gonzales held the Angels to one run over 8.1 innings to pick up his third win of the season. The Pirates have only played three total games as a team and Gonzales already has three wins as an individual.

Zack Greinke had himself a night, he struck out ten and also swatted two home runs. Yes, you read that right. He is the third oldest pitcher to have a multi-home run game.

What to Watch for Today

Aaron Nola will take the mound for the Phillies as the team will look to improve to 5-0 on the season. Nola picked up a win in his first start of the year and after winning 17 games in 2018 it will be interesting to see how many he will win with the new and improved Phillies.

German Márquez will make his first start since his big new contract. The Rockies and Marquez agreed on a five year extension and the young righty will look to make good on the contract right away. He takes on a hot Rays team (5-1) in Tampa.

Robbie Ray and Joey Lucchesi will do battle in a lefty vs. lefty showdown. Both pitchers have the ability to put up high strikeout totals and it should make for a solid duel tonight.

Jacob deGrom will take on the Marlins in his second start of the season. deGrom was dominant in his first outing and the reigning NL Cy Young will look to keep things going tonight against a weak Miami offense. He will be a DFS cash game staple tonight.
