Top Stacks

Los Angeles Angels vs Alex Cobb

Cobb has a 13.11 ERA and a 2.83 WHIP in three starts this season.  He has allowed a total of 17 earned runs on 30 hits over 11.2 innings.  The Angels will be the top stack of many lineups tonight and for good reason.  BVP numbers for the Angels against Cobb are also impressive as Mike Trout is hitting .583 with two home runs and Albert Pujols is hitting .583 with a double and a home run against Cobb in their careers.  Using Trout tonight is a must and pretty much anybody else in their lineup should be in play tonight.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Homer Bailey

Bailey is 0-3 with a 4.19 ERA through six starts this season but he also owns a 5.29 FIP, 5.10 xFIP and a 5.05 SIERA meaning he’s actually getting a bit lucky and his stat lines should be about a full run worse.  The Brewers may be without power hitter Eric Thames due to injury but they still have plenty of thump in their lineup to hammer Bailey.  Ryan Braun is 16-for-47 (.340) with four doubles, four home runs and nine RBI off Bailey in his career to lead the BrewCrew.  Manny Piña has also had success against Bailey in a much smaller sample size as he is 4-for-7 with two home runs off him.  A stack of Ryan Braun , Lorenzo Cain , Christian Yelich and Travis Shaw will be popular tonight.

St. Louis Cardinals vs James Shields

It has been a long time since Shields lived up to his “Big Game James” moniker and this season has been no different as teams have hammered Shields to the tune of 20 runs on 33 hits over 29.1 innings.  He has a 6.14 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP while having walked more hitters (17) than he has struck out (15) on the year.  The Cardinals offense is not exactly lighting up the world right now with Matt Carpenter and Marcel Ozuna off to slow starts but Tommy Pham , Yadier Molina and Paul DeJong should all be popular tonight.

Contrarian Stack

Minnesota Twins vs Marco Estrada

I love stacking the Twins as a contrarian play and I love stacking against Marco Estrada because he is an extreme flyball pitcher and flyball pitchers can occasionally give up home runs in bunches.  Well tonight is the perfect storm for me as the Twins face off against Estrada.  Some plus BvP matchups tonight are Eduardo Escobar who is 4-for-11 with two home runs and Logan Morrison who is 8-for-21 with three home runs against Estrada in their careers.  Eddie Rosario is 2-for-7 with a double and a home run, Brian Dozier is 5-for-21 with a double and Joe Mauer is 6-for-21 with two doubles all off Estrada.  This season Estrada is 2-2 with a 6.00 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP while having allowed eight home runs over five starts this season.
