Rockies vs Chase Anderson

Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado, Gerardo Parra, DJ LeMahieu, Mark Reynolds, Carlos Gonzalez

On paper Anderson has been very good this season, going 6-2 with a 2.89 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP.  A deeper look into his sabermetric stats will show that his xFIP of 4.33 and SIERA of 4.17 prove that he may in fact be getting just a bit lucky at times.  Whelp, Anderson will be making his first start off the disabled list on Sunday and it will be in the hitter’s haven of Coors Field.  I expect a rocky return from Anderson in this one.

Chicago Cubs vs Marco Estrada

Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Kyle Schwarber, Alex Avila, Ian Happ, Javier Baez

The last time I said to stack Estrada he went out and tossed seven shutout innings against the Yankees but the fact still remains that he is just not a good pitcher this season and his last outing which saw him give up six earned runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings is closer to what I expect from him in this matchup on the road against the Cubs.  Estrada gives up the second most fly balls in baseball at 49.3%.  The Cubs are a power hitting team and the wind is going to be blowing out in this contest which should only boost the odds that some of those fly balls Estrada gives up finds the bleachers.

Tampa Bay vs Yovani Gallardo

Kevin Kiermaier, Corey Dickerson, Lucas Duda, Wilson Ramos, Evan Longoria, Logan Morrison

Gallardo has been a shell of his prime years this season, going 5-8 with a 5.84 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP.  In his last start he allowed eight earned runs on nine hits over four innings to the Orioles.  His start on Sunday will come against the Rays who are no stranger to putting runs on the board and rank among the league’s top home run hitting teams.  You can pretty much stack any combination of the Rays lineup and they should do damage against Gallardo this afternoon.

Houston Astros vs Jharel Cotton

Jose Altuve, George Springer, Josh Reddick, Marwin Gonzalez, Yulieski Gurriel, Alex Bregman

There was so much hype for Cotton heading into this fantasy season but he failed to live up to expectations and found himself being demoted to the minors.  Things haven’t been much better for Cotton since his promotion back to the A’s and on the season he is just 5-10 with a 5.83 ERA and ad 1.50 WHIP.  He will be on the road Sunday facing off against the Astros who boast the American League’s best record.  This game figures to go poorly for Cotton and while the Astros players are typically higher priced they will be worth spending up on today.
