Tampa Bay Rays vs. Adrian Sampson

I figured the Rays would have a solid implied total, but I didn’t actually expect it to be 5.66 and lead the slate. They do get to hit in the Texas heat where the ball travels significantly further. Sampson has only made two appearances this year and he hadn’t made one since 2016 before then. At Triple-A this season, right-handed batters really gave Sampson an issue. At Triple-A this year, right-handers hit .322 and posted an .872 OPS.

Since Sampson struggled so heavily against right-handed bats, the first couple of guys we’ll mention is Tommy Pham and C.J. Cron . Pham is hitting .333 over his last 10 games with an OPS over 1.000 while Cron has homered three times over his last 10 games and he himself has a .927 OPS over his last 10 contests.

If we’re moving over to the left side of the plate, there aren’t many hitters that are doing more than Kevin Kiermaier right about now. Kiermaier has slashed .432/.450/.892 with eight extra-base hits and eight runs batted in. Ji-Man Choi has also hit three homers over his last 10 games and has a .392 wOBA versus right-handed pitching on the year.

Brandon Lowe has been a surprise lately and has been a source of power. He has six hits over his last 26 at-bats and five of them have gone for extra-bases. Carlos Gómez and Jake Bauers are both secondary options, but both have home run upside. Matt Duffy is a dual threat as well, and he could also be in play here.

Primary Option(s): Kevin Kiermaier , Ji-Man Choi , Tommy Pham , C.J. Cron

Secondary Option(s): Brandon Lowe, Carlos Gómez , Jake Bauers , Matt Duffy

Milwaukee Brewers  vs. Anthony DeSclafani

In two meetings against the Brewers this year, DeSclafani has struggled allowing eight earned runs over 13 innings. DeSclafani have given up a lot of power this year, 14 homers versus left-handers and six against right-handed hitters. Left-handers have a .388 wOBA versus DeSclafani on the year.

Five Brewers that hit from the left side have at least 10 homers against righties this year. Mike Moustakas , Curtis Granderson , Eric Thames , Travis Shaw and Christian Yelich . Yelich has been incredible in the second half of the season slashing .343/.407/.700 and has hit 19 bombs. He’s the top play from this Brewers team. Shaw has a .291 ISO, Thames’ is at .268, Yelich .257 and Moustakas is at .214. All five can be used, they’re just all expensive.

Manny Piña has an .873 OPS over his last 10 games and has hit .301 since the All-Star break. He’s a nice secondary option on DraftKings. Jesus Aguilar is 3-for-6 with a homer and Domingo Santana has been recalled and his hitting .295 vs. RHP on the year.

Primary Option(s): Curtis Granderson , Christian Yelich , Travis Shaw , Mike Moustakas

Secondary Option(s): Manny Piña , Jesus Aguilar , Eric Thames , Domingo Santana
