10-Team Leagues

Joey Lucchesi , SDP SP (28% ownership), FAAB Bid - $12-13 - We’ve been seeing the guy we saw as a rookie last season more and more since his return from the disabled list. He’s notched six straight games of at least six strikeouts which is what we grew accustomed to in 2017. He now has a 9.79 K/9 on the year and an extremely solid 3.53 xFIP and 3.72 SIERA. He should be owned in all formats.

Jeremy Jeffress , MIL RP (66% ownership), FAAB Bid - $12 - I’m not sure people have fully grasped that Jeffress is closing in Milwaukee yet, but you should. He now has eight saves on the year and has actually picked up two wins over his last three outings to contribute there as well. Jeffress has struck out 67 batters over 60 innings and has a sparkling 1.48 ERA on the year. If you need saves for the remainder of the year this is your guy.

Trevor Williams , PIT SP (56% ownership), FAAB Bid - $ 11-12 - Williams, to be frank, has been amazing lately. Over his last nine starts, spanning 55.2 innings, Williams has allowed...wait for it...four earned runs. You read that correctly. He doesn’t provide much in terms of strikeouts and he’s only 12-9 on the year. Who knows if this is sustainable as his 4.75 xFIP says it’s not, but he continues to prove those those analytics wrong every time he takes the mound.

12-Team Leagues

Niko Goodrum , DET 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF (10% ownership), FAAB Bid - $8-9 - The versatility is one thing, but when you’re versatile and productive it’s something you really want for the remainder of the year. Goodrum is riding a six game hit streak in which he’s belted three homers. Over the last 30 days, Goodrum has scored 15 runs, hit six homers and swiped three bags. He has 16 homers and 10 stolen bases which means 20 and 15 is easily attainable. He’s very valuable for the stretch run.

Austin Gomber , STL SP, RP (32% ownership), FAAB Bid - $8 - Gomber has been awesome since joining the Cards rotation. He’s 4-0 in the six starts since joining and the Cards have won all six games, so he could have potentially been 6-0. He has a 2.52 ERA as a starter and has only allowed a .294 wOBA. He’s also seen an uptick in his K-rate moving from the bullpen to the rotation and he’s almost up to 20-percent. He deserves to be owned in a ton of formats.

Jordan Hicks , STL SP, RP (24% ownership), FAAB Bid - $7-8 - So Bud Norris is still the closer in St. Louis, but his job is not secure at all. Jordan Hicks secured a save on Tuesday with Norris unavailable, so we know for a fact Hicks is the next man up. Hicks is elite at inducing grounders per his 60-percent rate on the year. The 21-year old should be picked up for the stretch run if you haven’t already.

15-Team Leagues

Adalberto Mondesí , KCR 2B, SS (15% ownership), FAAB Bid - $7 - Mondesi has turned it up since the All-Star break hitting .278 compared to .250 in the first half. Mondesi has five multi-hit games over his last seven contests and has flashed some power belting two bombs over that same stretch. He has 18 stolen bases and six home runs in just 52 games this year. Mondesi will continue to play everyday and get a chance to double those numbers going forward.

Jake Cave, MIN OF (2% ownership), FAAB Bid - $4-5 - Cave, like the guy I mention next, is a cheap source of power. He’s belted six homers over the past month which puts him in the same category as Matt Carpenter , Justin Turner and many more. Cave has an impressive .490 SLG on the year. He won’t provide us with much more than power but he’ll continue to play every day so he has a chance for another big month.

Hunter Dozier , KCR 1B, 3B (4% ownership), FAAB Bid - $3 - Although the Royals aren’t any good, they have valuable pieces for your fantasy teams down the stretch. Dozier is seemingly a pick up for AL-only formats, but he’s multi position eligible and has power. He’s hit four home runs just over the past two weeks giving him nine in 300 plate appearances.
