Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics

Game 2

Total: 203.5 / Pick’em

There are a lot of questions to be answered heading into Game 2, mainly for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Boston took it to Cleveland and crushed them by 25 points. LeBron James and Kevin Love went just 10-for-30 from the floor while Boston had three players in Marcus Morris, Al Horford and Jaylen Brown all score 20 or more. Vegas likes this game to stay close, and so do I.

Players to Watch

Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James - James currently leads the NBA in scoring this postseason at 32.7 points per game. James was not good during Game 1 going 5-for-16 and turning the ball over seven times.

Kevin Love - Love is averaging 9.9 rebounds per game this postseason. That ranks ninth amongst all players this postseason. Love is second on the Cavs in scoring this postseason but is averaging just 11.3 points per game against Boston in three meetings this year.

Kyle Korver - The only player on Cleveland averaging more than 10 points per game this postseason other than Kevin Love and LeBron James. Korver is attempting 5.8 three-pointers per game this postseason and is shooting 44.3-percent from that distance.

J.R. Smith - Smith hasn’t had the greatest season, but he’s played well against Boston this season. Smith has shot 55.2-percent from the floor and 46.2-percent from three against them this season.

Boston Celtics

Terry Rozier - Rozier didn’t have the greatest game one, but he stuffed the box score with eight points, eight assists and six rebounds. Cleveland ranked 18th in DvP versus point-guards on the year. Rozier has averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game against the Cavs this season and that’s playing as a part-time player half the time.

Jaylen Brown - Brown has been rollin’ a bit scoring 23 and 24 points respectively in back-to-back games. He’s averaged 17.4 points per game this postseason which ties him for second on his team with Terry Rozier.

Jayson Tatum - It had been seven straight playoff games for Tatum that he was able to score 20-plus points so Game 1 must have been weird for him only pouring in 16. He’s been mighty efficient while scoring all of these points shooting north of 50-percent in five of his last six games. Cleveland has not been good at defending small-forward this season ranking 23rd in the league.

Al Horford - Horford currently leads Boston in both rebounds and blocks per game this postseason. Horford shot just 49-percent from the floor in the regular season but has upped up big time to damn near 60-percent this postseason.

Marcus Morris - The self-proclaimed LeBron James stopper has been up and down this postseason but he had a great Game 1 against the Cavs scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Morris will likely be on the floor as long as James is as well. He could accrue a bunch of peripheral stats.

Q1: The last made shot (FG or FT) of the 1st Quarter is a 2-pointer?

The last six made shots -- free-throws included -- in Game 1, were either a free-throw or a two-pointer. It seems as if they’re attacking much more frequently in late quarter situations. I’m going YES here.

Q2: Which team commits more turnovers in the 1st Quarter?

Both Cleveland and Boston have done well in the turnover department this postseason ranking third and fourth respectively for fewest turnovers. Ultimately, I think it depends on how careless or careful LeBron James is going to be with the ball. I think he comes out a man on a mission and takes care of the ball. Boston will turn the ball over more.

Q3: Which team scores the most points in the 1st Quarter? (CLE has a +2 handicap)

We saw LeBron James out on the court eight hours before the game today. Think he doesn’t want it? Think he doesn’t come out with fire in his eyes? Boston nearly doubled up Cleveland in Game 1 and actually outscored them in two of the three games during the first quarter. I’ll take that +2 and bet on Cleveland coming out and looking strong in the first.

Q4: The first made shot of the game is a 3-pointer?

Both Cleveland and Boston are taking a ton of three-pointers this postseason, ranking third and fourth amongst all 16 teams. There is a good chance the first made shot is a three, but ultimately, we have a better shot at a made two-pointer. I’m going NO here.

Q5: Both teams make 2 or more FG’s by the 10:00 mark?

The total is low and they haven’t been lighting it this postseason to be honest. It’s possible both have two made shots, but it’s likely each team gets around three possessions and would have to be very effective to do so. I’m going NO here.

Q6: Which team wins the opening tip off?

Al Horford won the opening tip in Game 1. He didn’t have a great series winning tips against Joel Embiid and the 76ers as he won just once. He’ll have an easier time against Kevin Love as I think the Celtics win tonight’s tip.
