Welcome to the DFS Watch List for NFL Week 17!

Well now this week has been a total disaster, amirite? Not only is seasonal fantasy football a mess, at least for those who play in Week 17, but the DFS community is now left to do a whole lot of guessing as well. Every game is being played on Sunday and, save for the Sunday night game between the Washington Football Team and the Philadelphia Eagles, they are all on the main slate. But how many of those games do we really want to invest in this week? Do we want to try and smash with the Vikings/Lions game becuase it's two of the worst defenses or is there simply no incentive for anyone as the game is 100% meaningless? We certainly don;t want to touch the Chiefs this week with Chad Henne starting over Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid being notorious for sitting his starters in situations like this.

We've heard the Steelers will be starting Mason Rudolph to keep Ben Roethlisberger healthy for the playoffs, so that immediately takes away all the starting receivers because...well...it's Mason Rudolph . Will the Buffalo Bills follow suit and sit their starters since Pittsburgh is trying to giftwrap the No. 2 seed for them? We haven't heard a peep out of head coach Sean McDermott on that. And then here's the worst one of all -- The Tennessee Titans. They in a potential smash-spot against the Houston Texans and I was all-in on stacking them for DFS, but there is still now a remote chance they could rest their starters too. The Titans play at 4:25pm ET. They can clinch a playoff berth with either a Miami loss or a Baltimore loss. Both of those teams play at 1:00pm ET and now we're hearing Ryan Fitzpatrick , the usual savior of Miami tested positive for COVID-19. What if Miami loses? Sure the AFC South Division title is up for grabs and the Colts play at the same time, but what if Mike Vrabel sees the Colts are up 31-0 on Jacksonville in the first half? Is he going to pull his starters and let the chips fall where they may? The chances of it happening are small, but are you going to pin your hopes and hard-earned dollars on it?

As a result of this, I have started and stopped the Watch List about 10 times now, adding and deleting names and frankly, it's turned into a colossal waste of my time. I've written up at least a dozen players and then simply deleted them because of all the news. So here's what I am going to do. I am going to write up some lock-button players -- guys who have something to play for and have no risk of being sat. From there, you will get a Playbook on Saturday for the Sunday main slate. That will be the place to look for the value plays as there is still news rolling in. I apologize for this not being the regular Watch List we've grown accustomed to, but that's the way it goes here in Week 17.

Before we start, I always like to show exactly what last week's Playbook delivered. We always like to check in to ensure we remain on the right path, regardless of overall results.

Scoring The Playbook Week 16

With the Saturday schedule, there were only 10 games on the main slate.  The Playbook & Dart Board provided great options for you to build your lineups.  The Texans stack paved the way for best success with Deshaun Watson & Brandin Cooks .

Here are the highlights:

  • All the players in the Playbook averaged 2.3X Value
  • Ten players in the Playbook provided 20+ DraftKings points
  • The average of the eight Dart Board players was over 10 DraftKings points with an average Value or 3.2X
  • Six out of seven players at both quarterback and tight end averaged over 2X Value.
  • Samaje Perine dominated the Dart Board with 29.6 DraftKings points and a 7.4X Value
  • The highest score that could be made on DraftKings from the Playbook & The Dart Board is 198.2

Now, obviously, hindsight is 20-20, and hitting the nuts off the Playbook and Dart Board is still tough to do given the number of possible permutations, but what it shows is that the work is being done to give you the best possible chances to win. And it's more than just going to the Lineup Generator, clicking Playbook & Dart Board Only, and generating lineups. You have to study the match-ups, read the content, and build around your favorites after the research is done. We whittle down the player pool for you, but you still need to perfect your lineup construction methods and select the right contests.

With that all being said, it's time to check-in and see which players we are looking at for DFS this week.
