If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

THURSDAY NIGHT MATCH-UP

Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

As a reminder, check out the Game Preview of tonight’s game from Ryan Hallam and I also made a few notes in the write-up for the Monday-Thursday DFS slate earlier in the week.

Injury Notes:

Denver:

Emmanuel Sanders (knee) -- questionable but expected to play

Kansas City:

Sammy Watkins (hamstring) -- out

Spread: Chiefs -3 (line opened at Chiefs -5)

O/U: 48.5

Weather:

Partly cloudy with temperatures in the high 60s and winds around 6-to-8mph

Match-Up History:

Chiefs lead the overall series 63-55

Chiefs have won the last seven-straight, dating back to 2015.

The average margin of victory for the Chiefs over the last four games has been six (6).

If you are playing the Showdown Slate, here’s who I like:

Patrick Mahomes , QB KC -- The absence of Watkins shouldn't have an impact on Mahomes' game as he has a variety of weapons at his disposal. Denver's pass defense does rank seventh accoring to DVOA numbers, but I don't expect them to shut him down completely. There is just too much firepower.

Royce Freeman , RB DEN -- The Chiefs run defense is atrocious and ranks 31st according to DVOA. The Broncos should pound the ball right up the gut early on and while it is a shared backfield, Freeman should get a lot of the early work as the Broncos look to wear down the Kansas City defensive line quickly before turning to the pass attack.

Phillip Lindsay , RB DEN -- Again, the Chiefs run defense is atrocious and while they rank seventh against RB pass plays (the reason I like Freeman over Lindsay here) he should still see ample opportunities. Look for the Broncos to establish the run early an then once the Chiefs pass-rushers over-commit, look for a nice dump-off to Lindsay which gets him running out in space.

Tyreek Hill , WR KC -- Even with Chris Harris likely devoting most of his time towards Hill, you can't expect the Cheetah to get shut down here. He's too valuable to the Chiefs success.

Courtland Sutton , WR DEN -- With Emmanuel Sanders banged up (but playing), I think Sutton shines brighter in this game as Andy Reid pays Sanders more mind in coverage schemes. Sutton should be able to stretch the field and could end up with a long touchdowns.

DaeSean Hamilton , WR DEN -- The Chiefs actually rank 27th against opposing WR3's and Joe Flacco is going to hav to try and mix things up a little.

Travis Kelce , TE KC -- While Denver ranks sixth in coverage against the TE position, with Harris on Hill, you might see a heavier lean on Kelce this week.
