If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

We've got quite a week ahead of us and now that we've got two weeks worth of data and opinion regarding some of the team we hope to target against, we should have even more fun exploiting match-ups for some of our GPP lineups. Cash is about the chalk; the high ownership rates. Obviously match-ups as well, but you can (and should) roll with the public on various plays. We'll dive deeper inbto that as the week progresses. In the meantime, let's take a look at who stands out the most right now.

THURSDAY NIGHT MATCH-UP

As a reminder, don’t forget to check out the Game Preview of tonight’s Tennessee vs Jacksonville game from Ryan Hallam.

Injury Notes:

Marqise Lee , WR JAC – knee (expected to play)

D.J. Chark , WR JAC – ankle (expected to play)

Chris Conley , WR JAC – hip (questionable)

A.J. Brown, WR TEN – knee (expected to play)

Spread: Titans -1.5

O/U: 39

Weather:

Calling for showers between 8-11pm ET with winds traveling East/Northeast between 10-13 mph. The heavy winds that were reported earlier are expected to die down once the rains starts.

Some intriguing notes about the match-up history:

  1. Teams are 2-2 against each other on Thursday night with Titans winning last two.
  2. Titans lead overall series 26-20 and are 6-1 straight up in their last 7 against the Jags
  3. Titans are 5-1 ATS in their last six against the Jaguars
  4. The total has hit the UNDER in 7 of Jacksonville’s last 9 home games against the Titans
  5. Jaguars are 2-4 ATS in their last six games overall

If you are playing the Showdown Slate, here’s who I like:

Marcus Mariota , QB TEN – I feel like everyone is going to be on Gardner Minshew as he does have the better weapons, but Mariota loves to lean on the short-passing game and could find a way to expose this secondary’s shortcomings. They say Jalen Ramsey is expected to play, but is his heart in it? He’s going to want to avoid injury and he doesn’t give a crap about this team. The weather is also going to limit both quarterbacks, so I’ll take the guy less owned.

Derrick Henry , RB TEN – The Jaguars are without Marcel Dareus up the middle and they lost some key run-stopping components in their linebacker corps. Watching them give up 80 yards to LeSean McCoy and 90 to Carlos Hyde has me thinking Henry is going to be a bulldozer in this one and run all over them. The slick conditions may hinder him a bit, but they will also hinder the tackling.

A.J. Brown, WR TEN – He’s seen one more target than Corey Davis , but he’s also hauled in three more catches and has quadrupled his yardage total. This secondary could be highly suspect depending on how Ramsey behaves, so I would take a shot on the rookie.

Delanie Walker , TE TEN – He is the bread and butter for Mariota and the Titans passing game. We should see some heavy targets for him once again and the Jaguars have actually been allowing 64.5 yards per game to the tight end position thus far.

Leonard Fournette , RB JAC – The Titans have allowed almost 135 rushing yards per game and were unable to stop either Nick Chubb or even Jordan Wilkins who took over for a banged-up Marlon Mack . Given the expected weather issues, the Jags should stay run-heavy here and try to lean on slow, methodical drives to help keep their defense off the field.

Dede Westbrook , WR JAC – If we have to sift through the receivers, then let’s look to the short-quick passes that go to the slot receivers. Westbrook doesn’t have much of a size advantage over Logan Ryan , but he’s got speed and great hands. If there truly is rain, it’s going to be tough to make catches, but high-percentage short passes are likely to be the chalk here.

D.J. Chark , WR JAC – Like I said, I don’t love the aerial game in this one, but since we probably should use receivers since kickers could be a nightmare, let’s get the Baby Chark into our lineups. He’s been a heavy lean for Minshew through two games and with Chris Conley potentially out, he should see a few extra targets.

Final note: Both defenses are obviously in play for the slate and no, it wouldn't be crazy to use in the captain seat.
