Welcome to the DFS Playbook for NFL Week 17!

While we get this full and delicious 15-game slate to play with here, there's a lot of weeding out of players to do. We'll take all the worthwhile Cowboys and Saints and take them off the board. Nothing to play for means no reason to play and there's simply no need for the Cowboys to play Ezekiel Elliott or for the Saints to play Michael Thomas . Yes, the Chiefs need to win to clinch, but do they need a full game of Patrick Mahomes to do so? Andy Reid is notorious for protecting his players, so there should be concern over how long Mhomes, Damien Williams and even Tyreek Hill play for this week. Travis Kelce is a different story as you'll see below.

The fact remains that we want to stay within the boundaries of something to play for. That's not limited to just teams contending for a playoff spot or improved seeding, though. You also have to look at personal records, potential free agents and back-ups who are vying for potential spots next year. And, of course, let's not overlook the need to show up a former coach, right Aaron Rodgers ?

This isn't the easiest week to play, so if you're a DFS novice, stay sensible with the amount you play and be sure you're in good contests. Throwing away a bunch of money at large-field, multi-entry GPP tournaments is the equivalent of buying a scratcher at the grocery store. I'm staying in the 100-person 50/50s and single-entry GPP tournaments. You're going to have a lot of sharks swimming around the multi-entry tournaments with this being the last big slate of the NFL season.

Enough lecturing.....let's get to the Playbook.
