Wow. The starting pitching has been taking a beating over the past few days, right? We tried sneaking some on the cheap with Charlie Morton , Luis Castillo and Max Fried and dang, it got ugly. The Jon Gray call was solid, though he didn’t get the win, but what can you do. At least he didn’t torch your ratios. As for tonight, just a five-game slate so the options are going to be fairly limited. We’ll do our best to sift through and see who’s going to return the value you need.

Both Sites:

Stephen Piscotty , OF OAK ($2,400 DK/$2,500 FD) – Double check that he is in the lineup, but against a lefty like Tarik Skubal, he should be there. Piscotty has a career .361 wOBA and .843 OPS against left-handed pitching and he appears to be heating up, posting three hits (one home run) over his last two games and safely hitting in six of his last seven.

Draft Kings:

Austin Gomber , SP COL ($6,900) – He’s also priced down on FanDuel, but Gomber is more of a second starter in the DK format to help you save a few bucks, especially with the pricing for hitters where it’s at. The Dodgers are very middle-of-the-pack, offensively-speaking, against left-handed pitching and their 45.2-percent ground ball rate against southpaws is going to play right into Gomber’s slider and curveball. SO long as he doesn’t leave anything to far up in the zone, he can put together a decent start.

Jose Trevino , C TEX ($3,100) – Time to pay down at the catcher position and do it with a guy who is batting second in the lineup against Rich Hill who has allowed eight earned runs over just 10 innings of work and has allowed two home runs as well. Trevino got the day off yesterday after hitting safely in three-straight games with two multi-hit performances in there. He’s in a great spot for tonight and should prove to be a great value overall.

FanDuel:

Sean Manaea , SP OAK ($6,700) – Love this price tag, especially needing just one starter on FD. The Tigers are actually dead-last in the league with a .242 wOBA against lefties and they’re fanning nearly 30-percent of the time against them. You should also see plenty of run support against Tigers starter Tarik Skubal, so the win is definitely in-play.

Josh Palacios, OF TOR ($2,100) – Palacios has settled in as the starting outfielder while Teoscar Hernández deals with his COVID stuff. He broke out with a four-hit game back on April 10 and has now hit safely in each of his last two games. We don’t have much of a big-league track record to look back on, but pop the lefty-swinging 25-year-old in against a righty at this price-point and you don’t need much to happen to return a 3x value on your investment.
