LPL/LCK Slate Feb 4th, 2021

Invictus Gaming v Oh My God

FunPlus Phoenix v LNG Esports

Hanwha Life Esports v Afreeca Freecs

Fredit BRION v KT Rolster

Going to be honest… Wednesday was a tough day at the office. We saw two upsets and almost every game went the full 3 games. Though this is what makes League of Legends so compelling, it truly is a competition where any given match you can be outdrafted, outplayed, or out maneuvered and lose to a team you shouldn’t. Like in all DFS, we cash in on those days. So lets buckle up and dive into the matches for Thursday!

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain

Favorite: Lwx (FPX: $12,000) It is hard to have Lwx on a slate and not put him as a favorite at either ADC or Captain. I will say with the point multiplier, you should get more value out of him as a captain than just as your ADC. He is averaging a slate best 88 points per game which should net you then around 130 points. Next highest player on the slate is Deft averaging 78.7 which would only get you 118.5 points. Those 10 points may make Lwx a worthwhile pickup here.

Value Pick: Chovy (HLE: $11,400) Chovy is currently the LCK mid lane kill leader (65 kills) and is almost 20 ahead of second place. So much of what HLE does goes through Chovy and his ability to create kills. If HLE win this match, it is because Chovy rolled his lane. Big point value here.

Top Lane

Favorite: Doran (KT: $6,800) Doran is quietly one of the best top lane players in the LCK. He is 5th in KDA (3.5), 5th in kills (32), and 3rd in average XP lead at 10 mins (+151). Doran will win his lane (usually off the back of KT Rolster making sure he gets the counter pick) and then make sure he has jungle help and priority. I think they have found a clever way to use Doran as a win condition in the side lane and into BRI, he should have a great day.

Value Pick: Kiin (AF: $5,800) What makes Kiin an interesting pick is he is currently second in the LCK for first blood participation at 38%. Most top laners are left on an island which means either AF’s jungler heads top or Kiin is winning the 1v1. Now the top laners of HLE (DuDu and Morgan) have played a little better, there is still an opportunity here for AF to take advantage of this.

Jungle

Favorite: XUN (IG: $7,400) More than any other region right now, the jungle owns the match in the LPL. XUN has 65 kills in 13 matches (averaging 5 kills a game) and part of 70% of all of IG’s kills. A lot of the time he ends up dying trying to follow up on TheShy, but his technical skill and the fact that he is going up against Aki from OMG who has almost 40 less kills and over 20 less assists.

Value Pick: Arthur (HLE: $6,800) Even with the 0-2 loss to DWG, Arthur is still one of the highest rated junglers in the LCK. He is top 5 in KDA (4.0), 1st in assists (105- only LCK jungler over 100) and kill leader (59 kills) through 16 games. This will be a tough game for him playing the next best performing jungler in Dread, but I think with Chovy in the middle lane, Arthur should have the firepower needed to rack up big points.

Mid Lane

Favorite: Rookie (IG: $7,800) Rookie may be the only thing holding this team together and preventing them from slipping into madness sometimes. If you have ever watched their games you get TheShy who gets caught out in the side lane almost every death he has, XUN is so wildly aggressive that he has to have teammates follow up on his aggression, and Baolan who will initiate a teamfight on cooldown just because he can. Rookie though makes this team work. He has natural intuition to follow up and the mechanical skill needed to outplay anyone from the enemy team. Solid pickup and you’ll have to pay for his skill on this slate.

Value Pick: icon (LNG: $6,800) I think icon will be the way LNG can beat FPX. Even I have bought into the FPX hypetrain but it shouldn’t go unsaid the type of split LNG are having, much of that being from the quality midlane play from icon. Add to that the fact that both Doinb and icon have been statistically very similar splits, this will be a solid place to save some cash but know you’re getting points.

ADC

Favorite: HyBriD (KT: $7,600) The real draw to this pick is as much about HyBriD playing into one of the worst teams in the LCK as it is in picking him for his skill. He does over 60 kills in 14 games but what makes him have a lower KDA is the fact that he only has 39 assists. KT doesn’t focus on getting him involved and because of that he only participates in 57% of all of the team’s kills in a match.

Value Pick: Deft (HLE: $7,400) Deft is far more of a skilled ADC compared to HyBriD but he is at a lower price because he is facing Bang in this match. Even with a harder matchup, Deft is not too much of a risk of a pickup because he has almost 80 kills in 16 games and has a 4.5 KDA to boot.

Support

Favorite: Crisp (FPX: $5,600) With the success that Crisp’s ADC (Lwx) has, it is hard not to pick Crisp. He is 3rd in the LPL in assists (140) and has a 4.9 KDA. On top of that, about a third of all of FPX’s first blood kills come in the bot lane and FPX loves to play through this lane. He is an expensive support, but with assists being only one less point per unit, investing in a support isn’t always a bad idea.

Value Pick: Iwandy (LNG: $4,400) I normally don’t recommend two players from the same match but both of these bot lanes are explosive. Iwandy is averaging 55 points per game which is a huge number for the support role. This match could easily go either direction and most likely will go the full 3 matches so look for big numbers out of Iwandy.

Team

Favorite: Invictus Gaming ($5,800) I always get worried putting too much trust in IG but it is harder to have any faith in good League of Legends play out of OMG. $5,800 is a lot in terms of prices for a team in DFS, but OMG is just so bad. OMG has only won 2 games… not matches, TOTAL games. They have the second fewest kills in the LPL with 115 team kills where IG has 202. OMG does do a fairly good job at getting early objectives but they cannot teamfight in the late game meaning IG has opportunities for later dragon stacking, barons, and obviously wins. This is the most likely 2-0 on the slate.

Value Pick: KT Rolster ($5,400)  KT Rolster is the value move on this slate because they are into Fredit BRION. The way they are going to pick up points here is in the late game objective control. BRI will slow the game down immensely and then lose major fights around objectives. While KT isn’t the best team in the LCK they have decent baron and dragon control numbers, especially compared to their opposition. This could also be another 2-0 and give you some bonus points.
