Items of Note:

For the final practice Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Newman are all running in practice cars. Hamlin is the only one who seems to have found decent speed in his car.
The weather conditions in the final practice will be the closest to race conditions for tomorrow afternoon’s race.
Matt DiBenedetto blew a flat left rear tire in the first ten minutes of practice, but that wouldn’t be the last time. With under 20 minutes to go he blew another left rear tire.
Halfway through the final practice, Alex Bowman went into the wall again in his backup car. He sustained heavy damage to the right rear panel. Jimmie Johnson’s team started moving around to get their backup car ready for Bowman’s 88-team.
With less than three minutes to go Kyle Larson’s backup car was showing top ten speed. He’ll be starting at the back but will be scored based on his P15 qualifying spot.

Items of Note:

William Byron continues to have problems with NHMS. After going into the wall in Friday’s practice and during qualifying, he found the wall again and will go to a backup car for Sunday’s race.
Kyle Larson’s tires locked up on him and he sustained some light damage to the right rear panel. It’s unclear if he’ll have to go to a backup car, the damage wasn’t too severe.
Halfway through the morning practice, Denny Hamlin’s running the fourth-best time (28.671) in his backup car, by the end of practice he still ran inside the top ten.
Erik Jones finished the second practice session with the fastest lap, best five-lap average, and best ten-lap average.

Daniel Hemric’s car chief, Darin Nestlerod, was ejected for the remainder of the weekend after the car failed pre-qualifying tech inspections three times.

Alex Bowman’s rear went up in smoke just as his qualifying time was beginning. The end of his drive came off and Bowman immediately pulled off the track. He will start 37^th on Sunday with a backup car.

William Byron has had struggles with turn two. Went into the wall in both practice and qualifying, but the contact in qualifying was much softer than practice.

Items of Note:

Had some issues getting the live stream online since NBC didn’t run it through their website due to the Open Championship and Tour de France. Results will still be posted for practice runs and then qualifying later tonight.
The first practice isn’t nearly as notable as the two practice runs on Saturday. Friday afternoon’s practice is mostly for teams to prep for qualifying. Saturday’s practices will be better suited for the race on Sunday.
Denny Hamlin did go into the wall as practice ended and he’ll have to run in a backup car for qualifying. His main car’s status for Sunday’s race isn’t clear as of right now.
Ryan Newman wrecked as time expired. He will run qualifying in a backup car as well.
