Top Guards

Markus Howard - Marquette ($9,400 DK / $8,500 FD)

We say it every time Marquette is on the DFS CBB slate and we’re definitely not stopping now, Markus Howard deserves to be strongly considered as the best overall play on the board no matter how expensive he seems. Considering how well Howard is playing right now and with this high-scoring matchup with DePaul, he’s the clear-cut top play on this slate. The senior is on an extremely hot scoring streak lately, as he’s averaging 35 real points and 48 DK points over the last three games in a high-volume scoring role in Marquette’s offense. When he faced DePaul earlier this season, Howard was equally as impressive with his 43 DK points and 31 real points scored. With his high amount of usage and shot volume right now, the DFS floor and ceiling are always high for Howard and we should expect more of the same tonight.

Cole Anthony - North Carolina ($8,400 DK / $7,700 FD)

Although Cole Anthony missed a slew of games earlier this season, UNC’s best player has continued to be one of the best DFS guards over the last month in his return. In his nine games back, the freshman is averaging 36 DK points and 20 real points per outing while providing a ton of ancillary stats in assists, rebounds, and steals. North Carolina is all but out of the NCAA Tournament and coach Roy Williams is allowing Anthony to take a ton of shots in the offense. But, it has been needed because of how many injuries the Heels have suffered lately. That will be the case again tonight with UNC big man Armando Bacot doubtful to play and Anthony being featured in a fast-paced, high-scoring matchup with Wake Forest. He presents an interesting GPP pivot off of Markus Howard if you want to take that avenue as he’s shown 40+ DK point upside since he’s been back healthy.

Immanuel Quickley - Kentucky ($7,200 DK / $6,600 FD)

In the midst of Kentucky’s current eight-game winning streak, we’ve seen Immanuel Quickley emerge as the Wildcats’ top scoring option and it’s not a surprise to have him as the most expensive DFS player on this team now. Over the last four games in particular, Quickley has been a DFS stud as he’s averaging 40.3 DK points and 23.8 real points during that span. During conference play, he’s co-leading the team in shots share (24%) and is the best from three-point range (47%), which is now the second-best mark in the SEC. Even with an elevated price tag, we should feel comfortable rostering Quickley in all formats tonight, as he’s on a hot scoring streak while also providing a ton of production in rebounds, assists, and steals in UK’s tight rotation. When he faced Tennessee earlier this season, the sophomore scored 18 real points but didn’t add any other ancillary stats, something that’s a rarity for him lately.

Christian Keeling - North Carolina ($4,900 DK / $4,400 FD)

Keeling has been UNC’s main scoring sixth-man recently, but there’s upside for more production tonight with a key Tar Heel injury. Armando Bacot is a big question mark to play after he suffered an ankle injury on Saturday and failed to practice the past two days. If Bacot is out, then Keeling would be an even bigger part of the rotation. We would likely see Leaky Black play more of the “4” position, as he did over the weekend, and Keeling would get more playing time in North Carolina’s smaller lineups as a shooting guard alongside Brandon Robinson. On Saturday, the senior Keeling played 27 minutes and scored 18 real points and 26 DK points after Bacot played just nine minutes before his injury. Keeling has now put up at least 16 real points and 26 DK points in back-to-back games and he’s a couple weeks removed from putting up 22 or more DK points in three straight. We could also see him enter UNC’s starting lineup tonight with Bacot out, as he recently started three games with North Carolina dealing with other injuries.

Taz Sherman - West Virginia ($4,500 DK / $4,100 FD)

West Virginia players are always GPP-only options in DFS because of how deep the rotation is and how unpredictable the production can be, and Taz Sherman is an interesting tournament play on tonight’s slate. The Mountaineers’ opponent, Iowa State, owns the worst defense in the Big 12 and they are among the conference’s worst at defending the three-pointer. During conference play thus far, Sherman is making a team-high 35% of his threes (19-for-54) and he’s made 40% from deep over the last ten games. While the matchup sets up well for the junior, playing time is not a guarantee for Sherman. He recently started three games for West Virginia, but was moved back to the bench on Saturday and played just 14 minutes. Still, Sherman has the upside to put up 15-20 DK points or more if he’s making his three-pointers, something he’s done five times in the past ten outings.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Cassius Winston - Michigan State ($8,000 DK / $7,100 FD)
  • Jarron Cumberland - Cincinnati ($7,900 DK / $7,100 FD)
  • Leaky Black - North Carolina ($5,600 DK / $5,000 FD)
  • CJ Fredrick - Iowa ($5,200 DK / $4,600 FD)
  • Rocket Watts - Michigan State ($4,400 DK / $4,700 FD)

Top Forwards

Luka Garza - Iowa ($9,600 DK / $9,000 FD)

Similar to Marquette’s Markus Howard, Iowa’s center Luka Garza is very deserving of being the most expensive player at his position on every DFS CBB slate because of his consistent floor and always high ceiling. The only issue with rostering Garza is that high price tag, and whether or not you can fit him in without hindering the rest of your lineup. If you can, though, there’s not much of an argument against playing Garza. The junior is coming off a massive performance against Penn State on Saturday when he had 57 DK points with his 25 points scored, 17 rebounds and four blocks. Garza has now 20 or more real points in 14 straight games and he’s averaging 43 DK points over the last ten outings. When he faced Purdue earlier this season, he oddly only recorded one rebound but scored 26 points and 33 DK points. It was definitely a down effort considering Garza’s usual standards, but he’s been much better in the six games since that performance. With the slight price differential, he’s a bit better of a play on FD, but he shouldn’t be ignored on DK as an elite tournament option.

Jalen Smith - Maryland ($8,500 DK / $8,400 FD)

Although Maryland lost over the weekend to Michigan State, that didn’t stop Jalen Smith from having a monster DFS performance and continue his recent hot streak. The sophomore big man has now recorded a double-double in 11 of the last 12 games and he’s averaging 41 DK points over the last ten outings with 17 points scored, 12.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game during that span. Smith has been a dominant force on both ends of the floor, and that shouldn’t stop tonight on the road with Maryland needing to win their final two games to clinch the Big Ten regular season title. Smith was a beast in the Terps’ first meeting with Rutgers when he put up 49 DK points with 14 points scored, 15 rebounds, and six blocks. We should expect another 40 or more DK points from him again with upside for more if he gets hot from three-point range. Rutgers allows a ton of opposing points from deep and Smith is making a team-high 43% of his threes during conference play, which is the fourth-best mark in the Big Ten.

Kristian Doolittle - Oklahoma ($8,100 DK / $7,500 FD)

If you’re looking to pay down a little in the high end of forward, Kristian Doolittle is in a favorable matchup and could easily outperform his salaries. The Oklahoma power forward will face a Texas frontcourt that’s dealing with a ton of injuries and is one of the worst rebounding teams in the Big 12. They should have a tough time dealing with Doolittle in the paint tonight, just as was the case when they met earlier this season when he had 34.5 DK points with 22 points scored and eight rebounds against Texas. The senior is on a bit of a hot streak lately as he’s averaging 20.1 points scored, 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 blocks/steals and 37.3 DK points over the last seven games. During this span, Doolittle has three double-doubles and put up at least 36 DK points five different times. This could be another smash spot for him in a good matchup at home, and he costs significantly less than Iowa’s Luka Garza for some perspective.

Bourama Sidibe - Syracuse ($5,700 DK / $5,100 FD)

Syracuse’s starting center has been one of the best DFS plays over the past week, and he’d be a huge value tonight if he continues his hot streak. Bourama Sidibe has put up a whopping 45 and 51 DK points in the last two games, respectively, while recording a double-double in each and averaging 15 points scored, 12.5 rebounds, and eight blocks/steals per game over this two-game span. It’s honestly hard to believe Sidibe will keep this dominance going, as he was lucky to eclipse 20 DK points before these outbursts, but we can’t ignore the possibility that the junior has finally discovered his true potential. Sidibe has said his recent play is aided by Syracuse’s new offensive tendency of driving to the rim and allowing him to get easy put-backs and dunks. He still commits fouls at a high rate, which has kept his DFS value low for most of this year, but the rebounding and scoring is way up lately and he’s outperforming his salaries. We could see another double-double from him tonight against a Boston College team that is among the ACC’s worst at rebounding and getting their shots blocked.

Isaiah Mucius - Wake Forest ($4,500 DK / $4,000 FD)

Wake’s sophomore power forward started the first 16 games of the season before being relegated to the bench from mid-January to mid-February. However, Isaiah Mucius is back in the starting rotation over the last three games, and he’s become a much bigger part of the Demon Deacons’ offense. In the past two games, specifically, Mucius has scored 24 total points on 10-for-19 shooting and he’s put up 28 and 19 DK points, respectfully in those outings. He would be a huge value on both sites if he continues that production and there’s some upside to that happening against North Carolina tonight. The Heels may be without starting big man Armando Bacot, who hasn’t practiced the last two days after hurting his ankle on Saturday. If Bacot is out, that leaves UNC undersized in the frontcourt to deal with both Mucius (6-foot-8) and Wake’s 7-foot center Olivier Sarr, who will probably be guarded by UNC’s Garrison Brooks. Mucius could be in a very favorable matchup and would be one of the top offensive options for Wake Forest at an attractive price point.

Brock Cunningham - Texas ($3,000 DK / $3,700 FD)

Texas is dealing with a ton of injuries right now and it’s opened up a lot more playing time for Brock Cunningham to emerge as a value play, and at a dirt cheap price tag. The Longhorns will at least be without Jericho Sims, Gerald Liddell, and Jase Febres tonight, while Donovan Williams is also unlikely to play after suffering a knee injury on Saturday. This has left the team with a very short bench and the freshman Cunningham has seen significantly more minutes despite barely playing for the majority of the season. He’s played at least 15 minutes in each of the last five games and that increase in playing time culminated in Texas’ most recent game, when Cunningham played a season-high 22 minutes and put up 21 DK points with his eight points scored, five rebounds and two steals. In the two games prior, he finished with 11 and 12 DK points, respectively, so it’s encouraging to see him become more productive as his playing time increases. With Williams out, Cunningham will be Texas’ first option off the bench and he should be able to produce enough DFS value to be a cheap salary-saver in all formats.
