Top Guards

Cole Anthony - North Carolina ($8,400 DK / $7,600 FD)

Now that Cole Anthony has returned to full strength, the North Carolina offense will lean on his playmaking abilities a lot as the season wraps up and the Tar Heels try to make a run in the upcoming ACC tournament. The freshman will likely be a top five pick in the NBA Draft, and it’s encouraging that he’s chosen to return from his recent injury and play out the season. In Anthony’s last seven games back in the lineup, he’s averaging 19.8 points scored and 34.5 DK points and has double-digit shot attempts in every outing. Not only has he been an active scorer since returning, but Anthony always provides a solid DFS floor with his rebounds, assists, and steals production added on. Although UNC has now lost seven straight games, we can still bank on Anthony playing hard and being one of the best DFS plays on the board moving forward. Plus, there’s some upside to him tonight as he’ll be playing in a quick-tempo matchup with NC State and he may have to do even more offensively with Garrison Brooks a question mark to suit up.

Breein Tyree - Mississippi ($7,700 DK / $7,500 FD)

Ole Miss’ point guard is on an offensive tear lately and he needs to be strongly considered for DFS until he cools off. Over the last six games, Breein Tyree is averaging 29.5 real points per game and has dropped 28 or more in four of those outings. Over this recent span, he’s also averaging nearly 40 DK points because of his very high offensive usage rate and shot volume in the Mississippi attack. Some people may be turned off by Tyree if you look at his dud outing last time against Auburn when he scored just eight points with 18 DK points. However, Tyree is playing a lot better right now than those numbers indicate, and he’ll benefit a ton if Auburn is without Isaac Okoro tonight. Okoro’s absence lately has allowed opposing scorers to have massive performances because he is their best on-ball defender, and it was his presence that slowed Tyree down earlier this season. Even if Okoro ends up playing, though, we can’t ignore Tyree’s current scoring form as he’s the clear top offensive option in the Ole Miss offense and his 30% usage rate and 34% shots share during conference play are top three marks in the SEC.

Jared Butler - Baylor ($7,500 DK / $6,200 FD)

KenPom is projecting Baylor to win by 17 tonight and that honestly might be too low. This team will want to lay a beatdown on Kansas State after this past weekend’s home loss to Kansas, and they will likely do so through the scoring and playmaking of their best player, Jared Butler. The sophomore is outperforming his DFS salaries by a lot lately, and he’s actually a value in the high-end range of guards tonight. Over the last three games, Butler has put up at least 39 DK points in every outing while averaging a stat-stuffing line of 20.7 real points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals. It’s easy to expect him to continue his hot streak against a Kansas State squad that’s gone 2-12 in Big 12 play thus far and allowed Butler to score 20 real points against them earlier this season.

Jaden Shackelford - Alabama ($6,300 DK / $5,500 FD)

We always want to target Alabama games when they are on the slate because of how fast-paced the team plays on both ends. Although the Crimson Tide have a couple stud guards that are also worth playing tonight, Jaden Shackelford is still a decent bargain right now as he’s taken over a bigger role in the offense. The freshman began the year mostly coming off the bench, but he’s now started the last 12 games for Alabama and is one of the top scoring options for them. In conference play, Shackelford leads the team in shots share (25%) while shooting a team-high 40% from three-point range. His scoring prowess has been amplified over the last four games as he’s averaging 24 real points and 35 DK points per outing. He’s definitely in play on DK tonight, but he’s a huge value on FD with a price tag that has not yet kept up with his production.

Prentiss Nixon - Iowa State ($5,300 FD Only)

Over on FanDuel tonight, there’s still some value in the Iowa State backcourt as the team tries to replace the production of the injured Tyrese Haliburton. With Haliburton out for the rest of the season, Prentiss Nixon has moved into the starting rotation as the lead point guard in the offense. In Nixon’s four recent starts in Haliburton’s place, he’s played at least 37 minutes in every game and put up 22 or more FD points in three of those. The only game where he didn’t perform was on Saturday against a tough Texas Tech defense. Tonight’s matchup against TCU is definitely easier for Nixon and we should expect him to return to that 20-25 FD point production.

Quenton Jackson - Texas A&M ($4,800 DK Only)

If you’re playing on DraftKings tonight, one key value option lies in the Texas A&M backcourt. Quenton Jackson has moved into the starting lineup for the past two games and his DFS value is notably higher now that he has a bigger role in the offense with extended minutes. In these last two games, the junior has put up 32 and 38 DK points with 20 and 18 points scored, respectively. He was the Aggies’ best player on the floor in those games, which were coincidentally wins over Alabama and Mississippi State. The matchup tonight against Kentucky is definitely a tougher one, but it’s hard to ignore Jackson’s slate-breaking value in the past two games as a newfound starter. He was a decent bench scorer during conference play beforehand, but the offense has clearly changed recently to favor Jackon’s scoring ability.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Kira Lewis - Alabama ($8,300 DK / $8,200 FD)
  • Tre Jones - Duke ($8,200 DK / $7,700 FD)
  • Samir Doughty - Auburn ($7,300 DK / $6,700 FD)
  • Immanuel Quickley - Kentucky ($6,800 DK Only)
  • DJ Stewart - Mississippi State ($5,400 DK / $4,700 FD)
  • Wendell Mitchell - Texas A&M ($5,000 DK Only)

Top Forwards

Luka Garza - Iowa ($9,200 DK / $9,000 FD)

If Luka Garza is on the DFS CBB slate, we need to be considering him in all formats. At this point, the Iowa big man has shown he’s pretty much matchup-proof even against good opposing forwards in the Big Ten. He should continue to have success despite the tougher head-to-head matchup vs. Michigan State’s Xavier Tillman tonight. Garza is always one of the top DFS plays because the Iowa offense leans very heavily on his scoring ability. He’s averaging 44 DK points and 26 real points scored over the last ten games, and his legit ceiling is 50+ DK points when he’s racking up double-digit rebounds or adding other ancillary stats. It’s been almost two months since he failed to score 20 points in a game, and Garza’s scoring is actually something we can trust because of his very high usage and shot volume. If you have the salary to fit him, you can never go wrong with Garza to begin your lineups with.

Xavier Tillman - Michigan State ($8,700 DK / $8,700 FD)

Michigan State’s big man has been one of the best DFS forwards all year and it’s been tough to fade him lately. Not only is Xavier Tillman averaging 38 DK points and a double-double over the last ten games, but he’s recently put up 40 or more DK points in four of the last five while stuffing the stat sheet in more than just real points and rebounds. Plus, Tillman is performing a bit better at home this season with better overall stats than on the road, especially on the offensive end. Tonight’s matchup is also a very favorable one for Tillman and the Michigan State offense. Although Iowa boasts a good offense of their own, the Hawkeyes’ defense is one of the worst in the Big Ten. They allow a ton points in the paint and they play at the second-fastest tempo in the conference. All of this sets up well for Tillman to keep his hot streak going and he should be safe for cash and tournaments alike.

Tyrique Jones - Xavier ($8,100 FD Only)

If you’re playing on FanDuel, it doesn’t get much safer than Tyrique Jones for one of your forward spots. The Xavier center has now recorded a double-double in nine straight games while averaging 14 points, 15 rebounds and 37 FD points during this span. He’s been dominant in the paint no matter the opponent, and he should have no issue doing the same against DePaul tonight. When Jones faced DePaul earlier this month, he put up 41.6 FD points with 12 points scored, 18 boards and three blocks, and that’s going up against the Demon Deacons’ talented big man Paul Reed too. This will also be a pace-up matchup for Xavier as DePaul plays at the second-fastest tempo in the Big East, which allows for even more rebounding opportunities for Jones than usual. As you’ll see in the example lineup below, there is a way to get both Jones and Luka Garza in the same lineup and still feel good about it.

Isaac Okoro or Jaylin Williams - Auburn

A key injury situation to monitor tonight could make Isaac Okoro relevant in DFS again, or force Jaylin Williams into a value option for yet another slate. Okoro ($6,500 DK / $6,400 FD) has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury but there’s a legit chance he returns tonight. The freshman has been practicing lately, and head coach Bruce Pearl said he could end up playing against Ole Miss. If he does play, Okoro is a little risky but is definitely a solid GPP play because he has the potential to put up 30-40 DK points with stat-stuffing tendencies. If Okoro ends up sitting again, then look to Jaylin Williams for some value because he’ll surely play more minutes at the forward spot. After basically not playing all season, WIlliams ($3,400 DK / $3,000 FD) has seen 15 minutes in both of the last two games and he’s given Auburn a fresh body with tons of energy as the team has struggled overall to replace Okoro. In these two games, the freshman has put up 12 and 19 DK points, respectively, and it’s encouraging to see him be productive and more comfortable in the second outing. He could be even better tonight with potentially more minutes and bigger role if Okoro remains out.

Khadim Sy & Antavion Collum - Mississippi

Although a matchup against Auburn may seem daunting, there’s some decent value in the Ole Miss frontcourt. First off, starting power forward KJ Buffen could be out or very limited tonight after suffered a back injury on Saturday and left the game with only 13 minutes played. This injury should force both Khadim Sy and Antavion Collum into more minutes and bigger roles overall. Sy ($5,000 DK / $5,000 FD) is the regular starting center and his playing time will be pretty locked in if Buffen is out. It’s odd to see Sy’s price tags remain unchanged despite him putting up 20 or more DK points in three of the last four games, and in seven of the past nine. When he faced Auburn earlier this season, Sy had 28 DK points with his 13 points scored, seven rebounds and one block. Meanwhile, Collum ($3,400 DK / $3,600 FD) has played 20 or minutes in three of the last four games and he’ll be needed a lot more with Buffen’s injury. After his teammate left last game early, Collum put up 13 DK points in extended playing time, and this would make him a huge value on this slate with price tags under 4k.
