Top Guards

Anthony Edwards - Georgia ($8,000 DK / $7,000 FD)

Since Georgia has gone 2-10 in SEC play and virtually knocked themselves out of the NCAA Tournament, the casual college basketball fan may have forgotten about Anthony Edwards. However, the freshman is always capable of being the top DFS scorer on any slate he’s on as he’s bound to be a top five NBA Draft pick this summer because of his immense talent. Edwards is coming off a couple sub-par performances in his last two games, but his upside was evident in the four games prior. In that four-game span, the Georgia combo guard averaged 50 DK points with three double-doubles and a ton of production in all stat categories. Tonight, we could see Edwards return to that level in an uptempo matchup with Auburn. Plus, Edwards would benefit a lot if Auburn’s Isaac Okoro is unable to suit up - as he won’t be guarded by one of the conference’s better defenders. That matchup slowed him in Georgia’s earlier meeting Auburn and we can expect more upside if Okoro isn’t hounding Edwards all night.

Collin Gillespie - Villanova ($7,900 DK / $7,100 FD)

Although Villanova’s point guard is at a season-high salary, his recent play certainly warrants the increase and he could be a nice GPP option with lower ownership than other high-priced guards on this slate. For starters, Collin Gillespie has put up 40 or more DK points in two of the last three games and in four of the last seven. During this recent seven-game span, the junior is stuffing the stat sheet by averaging 19.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Gillespie’s three-point shooting should also help him out in tonight’s matchup with DePaul. He just went 7-for-11 from deep against Temple on Sunday and he’s made 35% of his three’s during conference play so far. Meanwhile, DePaul’s defense is allowing the Big East’s second-most points from three and Gillespie drained 4-of-8 from the perimeter against them earlier this season. We could definitely see him get hot from deep tonight and that gives him really good tournament upside on this slate.

Alpha Diallo - Providence ($7,800 DK / $7,200 FD)

Just a few weeks ago, Alpha Diallo was a complete fade at his expensive price tags because he simply wasn’t returning enough value with real bust potential. Lately, though, Providence’s best player has been more safe for DFS and returned to his slate-breaking upside by being more productive in all stat categories - especially on the offensive end. The senior wing has exploded for 51 and 55 DK points in the last two games, respectively, while recording a double-double and recording 15 shot attempts in both. This is the level of usage and do-everything production we’re used to seeing from Diallo and now Providence gets a faster-paced matchup with Georgetown tonight. When Diallo faced the Hoyas earlier this season, he put up 40.5 DK points with 20 points scored, eight boards, two assists and four steals. He’d be a slam-dunk play at these salaries if we get similar production like that last meeting - and it’s certainly in play considering his last two games.

Jahvon Blair - Georgetown ($6,200 DK / $5,000 FD)

The Hoyas have a couple key injuries to monitor tonight and it could result in Jahvon Blair being the top offensive option for Georgetown again. Starting shooting guard Mac McClung has missed the last four games and he’s a big question mark tonight after practicing in limited fashion this week. In McClung’s absence, Blair has moved into the starting rotation and he’s played all 40 minutes in each of those four games. In addition to the increase in playing time, the junior is also Georgetown’s leading scorer with McClung out - averaging 21.8 PPG over his past four starts with a huge increase in shot volume and usage. Blair has put up at least 25 DK points in each of these four games with at least 38 DK points in two of those. As long as McClung remains out, Blair will continue to be a solid cash play tonight - and he’s still a huge value on FD as his price tag has not caught up with his recent production.

Sahvir Wheeler - Georgia ($5,100 DK / $4,300 FD)

Ever since Sahvir Wheeler returned from an injury at the start of February, he’s been an integral part of Georgia’s offense as opposing teams focus their defensive attention on stopping Anthony Edwards. Wheeler has been the Bulldogs’ starting point guard for the majority of SEC play but his offensive usage and role have increased over the last month - which keeps his DFS floor a lot higher than it’s been in the past. The freshman has put up at least 23 DK points in four of his five games since he missed one outing with an injury - and that production is really good value on both sites at these salaries, especially on FD with the price differential. Wheeler is pretty safe for cash games and he has GPP upside in what should be a fast-paced matchup with Auburn.

Allen Flanigan - Auburn ($4,200 DK / $4,000 FD)

A key injury to Auburn’s starting rotation could result in Allen Flanigan being one of the elite values on tonight’s slate. Isaac Okoro may sit for a second straight game as he still hasn’t practiced since suffering a hamstring injury a week ago. On Saturday, Flanigan started in Okoro’s place for the first time all year and he played a season-high 29 minutes while recording five points scored, six rebounds and 15 DK points. In the game that Okoro got hurt, Flanigan also stepped into a larger role as he put up 15.5 DK points with five points scored and six boards as well. That production seems to be the freshman’s DFS floor and we can expect more upside tonight as he gets comfortable as a starter with extended minutes. If Okoro is out again - which seems likely - Flanigan is a very good cash game salary-saver on both sites.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Tre Jones - Duke ($8,700 DK / $7,600 FD)

  • Marcus Carr - Minnesota ($8,500 DK / $7,500 FD)

  • Isaiah Wong - Miami FL ($5,600 DK Only)

  • D.J. Stewart - Mississippi State ($5,500 DK / $4,700 FD)

  • David Johnson - Louisville ($5,400 DK / $4,900 FD)

  • Jacob Young - Rutgers ($4,600 DK / $4,200 FD)

Top Forwards

Paul Reed - DePaul ($8,900 DK / $8,500 FD)

Although DePaul’s season has taken a turn for the worse - going 1-11 in Big East play thus far - Paul Reed is usually a safe pay-up option as he’s generating NBA Draft lottery buzz lately. The Demon Deacons’ center is averaging 35 DK points over his last ten games - but he’s a lot better play when he’s at home. In home games this season, Reed is averaging 43 DK points, 17 real points and 11 rebounds. Compare those numbers to his road averages of 35 DK points, 12 real points and 9.8 rebounds per game. That’s a noticeable difference for a high-priced player like Reed and it tells us he’s firmly in play at home tonight vs. Villanova. You might think a matchup against ‘Nova is a tough one - but Reed excelled on the road in his previous meeting against them. Last month, the junior big man put up 51 DK points at Villanova with his 18 points scored, 15 rebounds and five steals. Although we can’t realistically expect a repeat performance tonight, Reed can certainly provide 40-45 DK points like he usually does when he’s playing at home.

Reggie Perry - Mississippi State ($8,800 DK / $8,200 FD)

Mississippi State’s stud big man is always in play when he’s on the DFS slate, but he gets a bigger boost in value when he’s playing at home. For some players it’s simply impossible to ignore the home/road splits and that’s the case for Reggie Perry. At home this year, the 6-foot-10 sophomore is averaging 41 DK points, 18.3 real points and 11.3 rebounds per game - numbers that are miles better than his road averages of 29 DK points, 16.7 real points and 7.3 rebounds. These splits become even more magnified for a guy like Perry because of his expensive salaries - and it makes a lot more attractive tonight in all formats in a home matchup vs. South Carolina. Need more proof of Perry’s home dominance? Over the last five home games, he’s averaging 48.6 DK points, 24 real points and 11.6 rebounds while recording a 20-point double-double in each outing. Plus, Perry will have an advantage in the paint tonight as South Carolina’s frontcourt deals with a couple key injuries. Sometimes we’ll label Perry as GPP play when he’s on the road, but he’s a pretty safe cash and tournament option at home tonight.

Jordan Nwora - Louisville ($7,700 DK / $6,900 FD)

If you want to take a chance on the Preseason ACC Player of the Year, this might be the cheapest we see him for the rest of the season. Despite having some monster games in the past month, Jordan Nwora has oddly been terrible the last two outings and that should keep the masses away from him in cash games and tournaments - even at these suppressed salaries. Nwora has shot 2-for-11 from the field and scored seven total points over the last two games - and he even saw his starting job slip away on Saturday when he came off the bench for the first time since early last season. Still, there’s a decent chance Nwora bounces back in a favorable matchup tonight - and because he remains one of the most talented bigs on this slate. Syracuse’s zone defense always allows a ton of three-point scoring and Nwora is shooting a team-high 46% from deep during conference play. Plus, the junior is performing a lot better at home this year by averaging 34.3 DK points at home vs. 27.7 DK points on the road while shooting a lot better from the field and from three than in away games. The bounceback potential is definitely there but it comes down to whether you want to take that chance or not.

Austin Wiley - Auburn ($6,700 DK / $6,500 FD)

For much of this season, Auburn’s center had been a GPP-only play because of his inconsistent DFS production and potential for bust outings. Lately, though, Austin Wiley has put together a string of dominant performances and he’s much safer for cash games - even at these increased salaries. Wiley is coming off of three straight double-doubles in his last three games where he put up 32, 54 and 40 DK points, respectively. Over this recent three-game stretch, the 6-foot-11 senior is averaging 16.7 real points, 13.3 rebounds and three blocks/steals per game as he’s become a giant force in the paint against SEC competition. Part of the reason for Wiley’s improved play lately is Auburn’s loss of Danjel Purifoy and Isaac Okoro in the frontcourt rotation. Although Purifoy is back, Okoro being out means that Wiley will continue to see extended minutes as long as he stays out of foul trouble - something that was not a given for much of this season. Wiley should also have a big advantage in the paint tonight against a Georgia frontcourt that does not rebound well and is under-sized comparatively.

Qudus Wahab - Georgetown ($4,900 DK / $4,500 FD)

We’ll have to wait for more clarity on Georgetown’s injury situations ahead of this 8:30 pm ET tipoff, but Qudus Wahab could be one of the best values on the board tonight if everything goes his way. Hoyas starting center Omer Yurtseven missed Saturday’s game with an ankle injury and he’s a big question mark to play tonight after failing to practice this week. He’s listed as a game-time decision but all signs are pointing towards him being out a second straight game. With Yurtseven out over the weekend, Wahab moved into the starting lineup for the first time all year and he played a season-high 28 minutes in what’s turned into a very short Georgetown rotation (only six players saw meaningful minutes on Saturday). If Yurtseven remains out, Wahab is pretty much guaranteed a ton of playing time without much depth behind him - and he proved valuable in a starting role last time out when he had 21 DK points with 11 points scored and seven rebounds. In the game prior (when Yurtseven got hurt), Wahab had 28 DK points in 23 minutes as he recorded six points scored, eight boards and six blocks. If the 6-foot-11 freshman starts again tonight, he’s a near-lock for cash games.

Alanzo Frink - South Carolina ($3,400 DK / $4,200 FD)

If you’re looking for a salary-saver to fit in more studs on this slate, injuries to South Carolina’s frontcourt could force Alanzo Frink into more playing time and a bargain at these prices. The Gamecocks are still without starting power forward Justin Minaya until March and key backup Jalyn McCreary is likely out tonight after suffering a head injury on Saturday. Head coach Frank Martin said Frink and Wildens Leveque will be needed more moving forward with McCreary and Minaya out. Frink, though, has started the last three games in Minaya’s absence and he’ll likely be amongst the starters yet again tonight. In his first two starts, the sophomore was pretty solid with the increase in playing time as he put up 15 and 21 DK points, respectively, in 20 minutes played in both games. Foul trouble limited his minutes and effectiveness on Saturday, though, which is probably why his salaries are still very cheap. The door is open for him to play another 20 minutes tonight and if he’s giving us 15-20 DFS points at these price tags - lock him in as a value in all formats.
