Top Guards

Cole Anthony - North Carolina ($8,500 DK / $7,800 FD)

Despite missing 11 games with a knee injury, Cole Anthony is back to producing like one of the best point guards in the country, and he’s a top-tier DFS play even on a struggling North Carolina team. The Tar Heels’ freshman has put up 42, 31 and 46 DK points in his three games since returning from injury while leading the team in usage rate in each outing. It’s clear the offense will continue to revolve around his playmaking, as was the case before he got hurt, and that usage alone will keep his DFS floor fairly high moving forward. In these three games, Anthony is averaging 22 points, eight rebounds, 3.3 assists and 17.7 shot attempts per game. Plus, he’ll be needed a lot more offensively tonight with starting guard Brandon Robinson still out and center Garrison Brooks questionable with an eye injury. We’ll eventually see Anthony’s salary rise to the 9k range on both sites before long, so we’re still getting him at a discount right now.

Cassius Winston - Michigan State ($8,100 DK / $7,600 FD)

It took a while for Cassius Winston to return to being a safe, consistent cash game play, but he’s been very good lately and he’s a solid value with these lower price tags than usual. Over the last three games, Michigan State’s senior point guard has put up at least 36 DK points in each while averaging 22.7 real points, six assists, 3.3 rebounds and one steal per game. Plus, Winston is back to taking the majority of shot attempts in the Spartans offense, as he’s racked up at least 18 shots in each of the last three games. We will see Winston’s salaries rise into the high 8k range soon as he continues to put up some dominant DFS performances, so he’s actually a bargain right now considering the discount we’re getting on him. Even on the road, tonight, we should be able to trust him for cash games. When Winston faced Illinois earlier this season, he had 37.5 DK points with his 21 points scored, six assists and four rebounds. A repeat stat line like that one is not out of the question tonight and we’ll take that all day at these salaries on both sites.

Desi Sills & Jalen Harris - Arkansas

With Isaiah Joe still out for Arkansas, it’s opened up some value in the backcourt with Desi Sills and Jalen Harris both being solid cheap options on tonight’s slate. Sills ($4,400 DK / $4,700 FD) is a regular starter for the Razorbacks, but he’s taken on a bigger offensive role with Joe out lately. In the last two games with Joe sidelined, Sills has taken ten shot attempts in both outings and scored 14 and 12 points, respectively. Plus, the sophomore is playing big minutes and has provided 27 and 19 DK points in these past two games. Meanwhile, Harris ($4,100 DK / $4,300 FD) still comes off the bench but he’s seen an uptick in playing time in Joe’s absence with Arkansas playing a lot of guard-heavy lineups. In these last two games, the junior has put up 14.5 and 20.5 DK points, respectively, as the increase in minutes allows him to rack up more ancillary stats despite not having a huge offensive role. Both Harris and Sills are very much in play tonight because they can return enough value on their price tags on either site. Sills is probably the better cash play while Harris is a nice salary-saver in GPP’s.

Braxton Beverly - NC State ($4,200 DK / $4,100 FD)

If you’re building GPP lineups and looking for a cheap flier, Braxton Beverly is worth a shot. Beverly has been NC State’s best three-point shooter during conference play as he’s gone 41% from deep with a team-high 20 made threes in 12 ACC games. We all know the best way to beat Syracuse’s 2-3 zone defense is via the three-pointer, and Beverly’s skill set should be used by the Wolfpack offense more than usual tonight. Although the junior lost his starting job recently, he’s still been a good perimeter threat off the bench, going 8-for-16 from three-point range over the last four games including a 4-for-7 night in NC State’s last game. Although the cheap price tags are tempting, limit your exposure to Beverly to GPP’s only because he has the downside to post less than 10 DK points, as he’s done in three of the last five games. However, the upside is definitely there if he gets hot from downtown, just as he did last year against Syracuse when he went 4-for-8 from deep and finished with 21 real points.

Christian Keeling & Andrew Platek - North Carolina

With Brandon Robinson missing the last two games for North Carolina, both Christian Keeling and Andrew Platek have emerged as solid value plays lately with an increase in playing time and offensive role. These two Tar Heel guards should continue to return value again tonight with Robinson still out and expected to miss the next two or three weeks. Platek ($4,100 DK / $3,800 FD) has started the last eight games, but his minutes and general stats production have increased over the last two outings with Robinson out. The junior has played 33 and 36 minutes in the last two and put up 13 and 26 DK points, respectively in those games. We’ll probably see Platek start once again and he’ll have enough opportunities to rack up ancillary stats to return value on his cheap salary. Meanwhile, Keeling ($4,100 DK / $4,100 FD) is still coming off the bench in Robinson’s absence, but he’s seen a big increase in offensive usage and shot volume over these past two games. The senior has put up at least 21 DK points and 13 real points in both these outings while taking 17 total shots across the two games. He’s playing the scoring sixth-man role in UNC’s rotation and he should continue to be valuable as long as Robinson is out. Both Keeling and Platek are firmly in play as values tonight in what will be a fast-paced matchup with Wake Forest.

Other Guards to Consider:

·  Fatts Russell - Rhode Island ($8,700 DK / $8,100 FD)
·  Skylar Mays - LSU ($7,700 DK Only)
·  Tyrese Maxey - Kentucky ($6,400 DK / $5,400 FD)
·  D.J. Stewart - Mississippi State ($5,000 DK / $4,900 FD)
·  Darryl Morsell - Maryland ($4,800 FD Only)
·  Tomas Woldetensae - Virginia ($4,400 DK / $4,500 FD)

Top Forwards

Jalen Smith - Maryland ($8,500 FD Only)

It’s a shame this Maryland game is only on FanDuel tonight, but Jalen Smith is a near-lock at one of your forward spots if you’re playing over there. The sophomore big man is on an extremely hot streak lately, as he’s become the top offensive option for Maryland while emerging as an elite defensive presence in the paint as well. Smith has recorded a double-double in six straight games and before his “sub-par” 25 FD points against Illinois last time out. He had a string of five games prior where he averaged 44 FD points, 20.8 real points, 12.2 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per outing. Not only has his offensive usage rate and shot volume increased over this recent spurt, but Smith has developed into one of the best three-point shooters in the conference as his current 47.7% mark from deep is second in the Big Ten. Tonight, Smith gets to face a banged-up Nebraska squad that’s the worst rebounding team in the conference and they get their shots blocked the most in the Big Ten. Lock in Smith and move along!

Obi Toppin - Dayton ($8,300 DK / $8,300 FD)

Whenever Dayton pops up on the DFS CBB slate, we always need to strongly consider Obi Toppin as an elite pay-up option because of his consistent dominance as one of the best players in the country. The sophomore big man is averaging a comfortable 37 DK points per game over the last ten outings. He will benefit even more from playing in a faster-paced matchup tonight against Rhode Island, who play at a top-50 pace in the country and one of the quicker teams in the Atlantic 10. Plus, Rhode Island’s defense is built on funneling opposing scoring inside and shutting down the perimeter shooting, which feeds right into Toppin’s skill set. He is one of the better post players in college basketball, shooting 70% from two-point range attempts (9th-best in the country). This game will be Dayton’s toughest test in conference play yet, and we should see Toppin get a ton of usage and shot volume inside with a real possibility at a double-double with how aggressive he plays around the rim. Only twice in the last ten games has Toppin failed to return value on his expensive price tags and tonight’s matchup, at home, no less, is setting up for him to be one of the highest-scoring DFS performers on the slate.

Nick Richards - Kentucky ($7,400 DK / $6,800 FD)

Kentucky’s center has been a bit inconsistent lately in terms of DFS value, but tonight’s matchup is setting up to be a favorable one for Nick Richards and he presents a nice bargain if you want to pay down a little at forward. Vanderbilt’s frontcourt is one of the worst rebounding units in the SEC and they allowed Richards to go for 15 points, 11 rebounds and 30 DK points when they faced off a couple weeks ago. That outing was just an average one for Richards, though, as he’s proven he can explode for 40-50 DK points when he’s a force in the paint as a post scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker, like he did against Mississippi State and Texas Tech in two different games over the past month. The Kentucky offense has tightened around its stars and Richards has become a focal point during conference play. Against SEC opponents, the junior big man leads the team in shots share (23%), and is second in usage (23%) behind point guard Ashton Hagans. This is one of the lowest price points we’ve seen him at since mid-January and it’s a nice buy low opportunity in a plus-matchup.

Cameron McGriff - Oklahoma State ($6,000 DK / $5,600 FD)

If you’re looking for a safe 25 or so DFS points tonight from a forward, Cam McGriff is your guy because of his really consistent play lately. The senior power forward has now put up at least 23 DK points in seven of the last nine games while averaging 13.5 real points, eight rebounds and 25 DK points over the last four outings. During Big 12 play, McGriff has a solid 23% usage rate and 22% shots share while being one of the better rebounders in the conference and drawing the third-most fouls per 40 minutes. He should be a handful for Kansas State’s frontcourt tonight as the Wildcats are one of the worst rebounding teams in the Big 12, and get their shots blocked at the conference’s highest rate. At these salaries, McGriff seems like a safe cash game option in the mid-range at forward.

Adrio Bailey & Reggie Chaney - Arkansas

Similar to the cheap Razorback guards from above, there’s also some good value in the Arkansas frontcourt tonight with Isaiah Joe sidelined. Adrio Bailey ($4,500 DK / $4,600 FD) has been starting all year but he’s been productive offensively the last two games with Joe out. He has scored in double-figures in both outings and putting up 27 and 20 DK points, respectively. Bailey is playing more minutes now because Joe used to take some playing time away from him in small-ball lineups, but if the 6-foot-6 senior is providing 20+ DFS points at these price tags then he’s a huge value. Meanwhile, Reggie Chaney ($4,400 DK / $4,200 FD) just exploded for a 40-point DFS performance last time out when he had career-highs in points (17), rebounds (11), shot attempts (12), and free throw attempts (seven). Although we can’t expect a repeat stat line tonight, it’s encouraging to see Chaney have a larger offensive role with his teammate out, and it’s something we should see again tonight. Plus, both Bailey and Chaney should have an advantage on the boards in this matchup against a Tennessee squad that’s one of the worst rebounding teams in the SEC.
