TOP PLAYS

Onyeka Okongwu - USC ($8,900)

When he’s staying out of foul trouble, the Trojans’ freshman center is a beast for DFS and he’s the main reason why USC has gone 6-2 in conference play thus far. Over the last four games, Okongwu has put up at least 37 DK points each time and he’s averaging 18.5 actual points, 10.5 rebounds and four blocks per game in this span. He’s become a dominant force on both ends of the court and he finally looks like he’s comfortable playing alongside fellow big man Nick Rakocevic in the paint. The DFS ceiling is definitely there for Okongwu - he’s just a week removed from dropping 55 DK points - but there’s also some risk because of his foul troubles that limit his minutes at times. On this slate, though, he’s the clear top forward worth paying up for in tournaments and cash.

Tre Jones - Duke ($8,500)

The Blue Devils are projected to score the most points on tonight’s slate and their best player is the sophomore point guard. Tre Jones is averaging 35 DK points over the last ten games and he’s done just that in back-to-back outings over the last week. As the best passer and on-ball defender on the team, his DFS floor is always pretty high because of his assists and steals - but he’s also started to show more of his offensive upside lately. Jones has taken double-digit shot attempts in five straight games and is averaging 16.4 points in those outings. That’s just adding on to his six assists, 3.8 rebounds and two steals per game during the same span. He should have a ton of opportunities at assists tonight against the Syracuse zone defense - whether he’s feeding Vernon Carey in the post or dishing it to one of the outside shooters. Plus, Jones’ improved three-point shooting will come in handy against the zone as he’s making 39% of his three-point attempts during conference play.

Malachi Flynn - San Diego State ($8,300)

Anyone else paying attention to San Diego State this season? The Aztecs are the lone remaining undefeated team in the country and a big reason for their dominance in the Mountain West is because of Malachi Flynn’s consistent play. The junior point guard is now averaging 34 DK points over the last ten games with a solid per-game stat line of 17.7 points scored, 4.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and two steals over this recent span. Flynn is the floor general for this offense and outside of his 28.5 DK points on Wednesday, he had put up at least 32 DK points in each of the previous seven games. When San Diego State faced Utah State earlier this month, we saw Flynn drop 36 DK points with his 22 points scored, five rebounds and four assists. This is the type of stat line that’s become expected from Flynn and we could very easily see him replicate those numbers at home in tonight’s rematch.

VALUE PLAYS

Jordan Goldwire - Duke ($5,100)

As long as Wendell Moore remains out for Duke, Jordan Goldwire continues to be a very solid value play with his increase in playing time and usage on both ends of the court. The junior guard has now started the last five games with Moore sidelined and he’s averaging 22.7 DK points over this span with at least 19 DK points in every game. In these starts, Goldwire is seeing a consistent 30+ minutes as the 2-guard next to Tre Jones - and his DFS value has been pretty safe because of his rebounds, assists and steals. On Tuesday, though, Goldwire got hot from three-point range when he knocked down 3-of-7 from deep en route to a career-high 13 points. Although we can’t expect a repeat of that shooting performance, Goldwire’s proven three-point range will come in handy against Syracuse’s 2-3 zone defense tonight - which allows for plenty of open looks from the perimeter. Goldwire is now shooting 41% from three during conference play and this is just an upside to the value he already brings with his ancillary stats.

Rob Edwards - Arizona State ($4,800)

With his recent hot spurt, Edwards’ salary is finally starting to rise but he’s still a value as long as he’s under 5k. The senior is back amongst the Arizona State starters over the last three games after beginning the year as a starter but spending three recent games coming off the bench. In these last three starts, though, Edwards has gone a combined 11-for-24 from three-point range (46%) with 30-35 minutes played in each. He put up 29 DK points in two of those starts and then 17 DK points last time out. He’s undoubtedly the Sun Devils’ best three-point shooter during Pac-12 play and his ability to consistently make his deep shots has made him a very good value lately.

RaeQuan Battle - Washington ($4,500)

Although he moved back to the bench last game, RaeQuan Battle is continuing to earn more playing time as one of the better shooters in Washington’s rotation. The freshman wing has now made four three-pointers in back-to-back games and he scored a team-high 14 points on Thursday with a 27% usage rate (second-highest on the team). Battle started a pair of games over the last month, but his value is still pretty solid even if he’s playing in a reserve role - like last game when he got hot from deep. The Huskies have been fiddling around with their rotations lately as they try to figure out the best lineup to break out of their now four-game losing streak. Battle is one of those guys who may just be shooting his way to more minutes - and he could have a ton of looks from three-point range yet again tonight against Arizona State, who play at the quickest tempo in the conference.

Stone Gettings - Arizona ($4,200)

With Chase Jeter still working his way back from a back injury, we’ve seen Stone Gettings enter the starting rotation and be a very good value with his increase in playing time. Gettings has started four straight now and he may have permanently won the starting role over Jeter at this point with Arizona winning three of those four games. Jeter was actually active on Thursday, but he saw just two minutes in the first half due to foul trouble for the Wildcats’ bigs. Otherwise, it was Gettings and Ira Lee splitting time alongside Zeke Nnaji in the frontcourt. In his four recent starts, Gettings has put up at least 15 DK points in three games as he’s done just enough as a scorer and rebounder to return value. He and Ira Lee ($4,100) should both continue to see more playing time over Jeter - who did not look great before his injury either.
