TOP PLAYS

Obi Toppin - Dayton ($8,600)

If you’ve been playing DFS CBB at all this season, you know about Obi Toppin. He’s likely a top five pick in the upcoming NBA Draft and he’s been a stud any time Dayton has been on the slate. He’s averaging 18 actual points and 35 DK points over the last ten games and he’s put up at least 33 DK points in five of the last six outings. Although the Flyers boast some complementary talent around Toppin that takes his DFS ceiling away, the big man has a very solid floor in fantasy because of his stat-stuffing role on both ends of the court. The sophomore leads the team in usage rate and shot volume this season and he’ll have a big advantage down low today vs. Richmond, who is the worst offensive rebounding team in the A-10 conference and allow the majority of opposing points inside. This sets up perfectly into Toppin’s skillset as a post player who can torment defenses in all phases of his offensive game.

John Petty & Kira Lewis - Alabama

Nearly all of Alabama’s starters are in play today because the Tide are projected to score the most points on this slate with how fast the offense plays in a good matchup. The two studs on this team, though, are John Petty and Kira Lewis and they are both safe for cash and tournaments. Petty ($8,300) has been remarkably consistent lately averaging 34.5 DK points over the last ten games and putting up at least 33 DK points in eight of the last nine outings. The junior is actually a really good rebounder at 6-foot-5 - averaging 7.6 boards over the last ten - and he’s caught fire from deep recently, going 9-20 from three-point range over the past two. Meanwhile, Lewis ($8,000) also boasts a solid DFS floor as he’s averaging 33 DK points over the last ten games while being the Tide’s main ball-handler. The sophomore point guard leads the team in usage rate and shot volume during conference play and he’s averaging six rebounds and five assists to go along with his 14.5 points per game in this recent 10-game span. Both guys are very playable in all formats with safe floors.

Udoka Azubuike - Kansas ($8,200)

Kansas’ big man would be a top play on any slate - but he gets big bump in value following the brawl with Kansas State earlier this week. The Jayhawks will now be without the suspended David McCormack and Silvio de Sousa for today’s game and beyond - and this leaves almost no depth behind Udoka Azubuike at center and in the frontcourt. If he can stay out of foul trouble, Kansas will likely give their senior center all the minutes he can handle as coach Bill Self said he won’t change the lineup or offense despite the suspensions. Even before those absences, though, Azubuike has been a beast recently as he’s averaged a double-double and 32.7 DK points over the last ten games with 15 total blocks in the past four outings. He’ll also have a plus-matchup today against a Tennessee frontcourt that’s been one of the worst rebounding units in the SEC so far.

VALUE PLAYS

David Sloan - Kansas State ($4,700)

The Kansas State starting rotation has been a revolving door for much of this season and David Sloan is the latest to benefit from more playing time. The junior has now started the past two games at point guard and played 32 or more minutes in both outings after coming off the bench to begin the year. In these two starts, Sloan has put up at least 28 DK points both times while averaging 13 points, five assists, three rebounds and three blocks/steals. His usage rate and shot volume has also increased since he joined the starting lineup and he’s a very nice value at sub-5k considering his production in a new role. Plus, Sloan and the rest of the K-State rotation gets a bump in value with Antonio Gordon suspended for his role in this week’s brawl and Mike McGuirl still working his way back from a concussion.

Christian Braun - Kansas ($4,500)

We mentioned earlier how Udoka Azubuike will benefit from Kansas’ suspensions from this week’s fight with Kansas State - and Christian Braun is in a similar boat. The freshman wing will now likely get a ton of playing time with David McCormack and Silvio De Sousa suspended. Braun was getting solid bench minutes before, but he’s now one of the only available frontcourt players on Kansas’ roster and he could even move into the starting rotation today. Plus, he’s coming off an impressive game against K-State when he scored 20 actual points on six made three-pointers - and put up 33.5 DK points off the bench. Some of that production did come in garbage time, but he’ll be playing real minutes now without much depth at forward for Kansas.

Galin Smith - Alabama ($3,500)

With Javian Davis doubtful to play today - and likely sitting out - it should result in much more playing time for Galin Smith. The junior big man has already started five games this season but had been operating in a bench role over the last three outings - playing mostly behind Davis. Today, though, we could even see Smith re-enter the starting rotation but he should return to playing 20 or more minutes off the bench either way with Alabama needing him with Davis out. When he started earlier this season, we saw Smith put up 21 DK points in a game with the extended playing time - and that would be a massive value at this price tag. Plus, his 6-foot-9 frame should help him grab plenty of rebounds against a Kansas State frontcourt that is one of the worst rebounding units in the Big 12 and lacks depth at forward.
