Top Guards

Myles Powell - Seton Hall ($8,000 FD Only)

If you’re playing on FanDuel tonight, the best expensive guard to lock in is Myles Powell. The senior shooting guard is on fire lately, averaging 24.5 actual points and 38.4 FD points over the last six games while also adding a ton of ancillary stats each time out. We say it every time Seton Hall is on the slate - Powell’s DFS floor and ceiling are so high any time he’s playing because of his extremely high usage in the offense. Powell’s 35% usage rate and 41% shots share are both top ten marks in all of college basketball and they lead the team by a big margin. There aren’t many high-priced guards that can rival Seton Hall’s playmaker tonight, and he should be strongly considered in all formats on FD.

Landers Nolley - Virginia Tech ($7,900 DK / $6,800 FD)

Admittedly, there aren’t a ton of high-priced guards worth paying up for if you’re on DK tonight - but Landers Nolley is certainly among the top tier. The Virginia Tech freshman is averaging 29 DK points over his last ten games but he does have at least 32 DK points in three straight coming into this matchup vs. UNC. Nolley’s 34.5% usage rate and 34.8% shots share during ACC play are both tops in the conference thus far as he’s the clear-cut top scoring and playmaking option for the Hokies this year. He will benefit a ton tonight from facing a North Carolina team that plays fast but does not defend well with a ton of injuries and underwhelming play lately. The price differential for Nolley is notable, too, as he’s a definite value on FD with the $1,100 discount on that slate.

Prentiss Hubb - Notre Dame ($5,900 DK / $6,300 FD)

It’s no secret that the best way to beat Syracuse’s 2-3 zone defense is via the three-pointer as the Orange allow the country’s highest percentage of opposing points from beyond the arc. Enter Prentiss Hubb, arguably the best three-point shooter on Notre Dame’s team and a guy who should get a ton of looks from deep tonight. During conference play, Hubb is making 43% of his team-high 54 three-pointers and he’s made at least three deep balls in eight of the last ten games. When Notre Dame faced Syracuse earlier this month, Hubb exploded for 41 DK points with his 22 points, nine assists and six made three’s. Since conference play began, the sophomore is second on the team in usage rate (25%) and shots share (25%) behind big man John Mooney - and he’s now put up at least 37 DK points in three of the last four games. If Hubb gets hot again from three-point range tonight like he did previously vs. Syracuse, we already know what his ceiling can be.

Franz Wagner - Michigan ($5,300 DK / $5,700 FD)

Wagner has been a very good value play lately with Isaiah Livers out and despite the price increase on both sites tonight, he’s still a solid option for his current role for the Wolverines. When Livers went down in late December, Michigan needed a third scorer to step up and complement Zavier Simpson and Jon Teske - and that’s largely been Wagner during conference play. Over the last four Big Ten games, Wagner is averaging 15 actual points and 28.6 DK points while taking double-digit shot attempts in each of the past three outings. The freshman was a massive value during this recent span with a salary below 5k - but he can still outperform his raised price tags because of his solid starting role in Livers’ continued absence. Wagner, and the rest of the Michigan offense, will also benefit from the fast-paced matchup against Penn State - who play at the second-quickest tempo in the Big Ten.

Leaky Black - North Carolina ($4,900 DK / $4,800 FD)

College basketball and UNC fans will have to wait a little bit longer for Cole Anthony to get back on the court as he’s yet to practice despite being vocal about a potential return on Twitter. In Anthony’s absence, though, Leaky Black is one of a couple Tar Heels’ guards who has seen a notable increase in playing time and usage. The sophomore has started all season and he’s played at least 34 minutes in each of the last three games with UNC dealing with more injuries to the backcourt. Black won’t offer much upside offensively - as he’s averaging just 5.4 points per game this season - but he provides a ton of production in most other stat categories which keeps his DFS floor relatively high. He’s averaging 24.3 DK points over the last three conference games, which makes him a solid value at sub 5k on both sites.

Lamarr Kimble - Louisville ($4,700 DK / $4,500 FD)

The Saint Joseph’s transfer spent the early part of the season on the bench to get acclimated to the Louisville style of basketball, but he’s now a regular starter in the rotation since ACC play began. Kimble has started the past five games in place of Ryan McMahon and he’s now put up 20 or more DK points in back-to-back outings with the increase in playing time and role. The Cardinals usually roll out a forward-heavy lineup and Kimble’s ball-handling, passing and senior leadership are important factors that the team is leaning on right now. He could see even more playing time tonight with freshman guard David Johnson nursing a shoulder injury he suffered on Saturday vs. Duke. Kimble is a pretty safe cash play at these prices below 5k as he should be able to provide 4x value or better.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Ty-Shon Alexander - Creighton ($7,500 DK / $6,700 FD)

  • Nick Weatherspoon - Mississippi State ($6,300 DK / $6,200 FD)

  • CJ Fredrick - Iowa ($5,200 DK / $5,500 FD)

  • Denzel Mahoney - Creighton ($5,200 DK / $4,900 FD)

  • Ibi Watson - Dayton ($5,000 DK Only)

  • David DeJulius - Michigan ($4,000 DK / $4,500 FD)

Top Forwards

Paul Reed - DePaul ($9,100 DK / $8,700 FD)

There are a ton of high-priced forwards in play tonight, but Paul Reed should be relatively popular because of his insane production lately and favorable matchup. DePaul’s junior center is averaging 42.6 DK points over the last ten games and he’s put up a whopping 50 DK points in two of the last four. Reed’s DFS ceiling rivals anyone on this slate because of his tendency to dominate on the glass - where he can easily post a double-double in any game and add a ton of contributing stats in blocks and steals. He should have no problem being a force inside tonight against Creighton, one of the worst rebounding teams in the Big East with almost no size in their frontcourt to match up with Reed’s 6-foot-9, 220-pound frame. Creighton has allowed a ton of big performances to opposing big men during conference play thus far, and Reed is pretty much a lock to be the next guy on the list to have a double-double and be a stud in DFS lineups.

John Mooney - Notre Dame ($8,900 DK / $8,500 FD)

If you’re not playing Reed - or want to pair him with another stud big man - John Mooney might be the safest high-priced forward in the country right now for DFS. The Notre Dame senior is basically a lock for a double-double as he’s recorded one in 11 straight games and in 14 of 16 games this season. This tendency to consistently record double-digit points and double-digit rebounds keeps Mooney’s floor very high compared to other forwards in college basketball - he’s averaging 42.3 DK points over the last ten games and has put up at least 52 DK points in two of the last four outings. One of those 50-burger outbursts actually came against tonight’s opponent - Syracuse - when Mooney had 28 points and 14 rebounds earlier this month in the matchup. Maybe we can’t expect an exact replica of that performance, but it’s certainly on the table for Mooney to have yet another double-double with 40-plus DK points once again - the type of game that’s become normal for him.

Reggie Perry - Mississippi State ($8,700 DK / $8,300 FD)

Again, the high-priced range of forward tonight is very attractive and Reggie Perry presents yet another option in the top tier if you want to pivot away from Paul Reed and/or John Mooney in lineups. Perry is coming off an impressive performance against Georgia on Saturday when he went for 51.5 DK points thanks to his 22 points scored, 12 rebounds, six assists and two steals. It was his third straight double-double and his sixth in the past seven games. During SEC play, the 6-foot-10 sophomore has a 30% shots share and 28% usage rate - marks that are first and second on the team, respectively, and top ten in the conference. Perry is averaging 39.1 DK points over those five games and he should be in line for another massive outing tonight against Arkansas. The Razorbacks are the worst offensive rebounding team in the SEC and third-worst in defensive rebounding as they play at a quick tempo and have a short frontcourt that doesn’t rebound well. This sets up perfectly for Perry to have yet another 40-50 DK point performance as he’ll dominate on the boards on both ends in a pace-up matchup.

Garrison Brooks & Armando Bacot - North Carolina

With UNC dealing with a bunch of injuries and inconsistent play from its backcourt, the offense is relying heavily on the big man duo of Garrison Brooks and Armando Bacot lately. During conference play, Bacot and Brooks are first and second on the team, respectively, in usage rate and shots share and both guys dominate on the glass between the two of them. Brooks ($8,200 DK / $7,000 FD) has recorded five straight double-double’s heading into tonight and he’s averaging 38.2 DK points over that span. Meanwhile, Bacot ($6,800 DK / $5,900 FD) is averaging 34.4 DK points over the last three games while seeing double-digit shot attempts in each outing. Both guys should see a ton of offensive usage tonight against a Virginia Tech defense that does not defend the interior well and are undersized in the frontcourt. Brooks is definitely the safer cash game play with a higher DFS floor - hence the more expensive price tag - but Bacot could be the slam-dunk GPP of the slate as he’s been outperforming his salary recently, especially on FD. Bacot’s floor is very low, though, because he sometimes has issues staying out of foul trouble.

Seth Lundy & John Harrar - Penn State

Penn State has shaken up its starting rotation recently, and it’s resulted in both Seth Lundy and John Harrar being huge values with an increase in playing time. Lundy ($4,300 DK / $4,500 FD) has started the past two games in place of Myles Dread and he has not disappointed with his newfound role. The freshman wing has played 26 and 27 minutes in these two starts with 15 and 12 points scored, respectively, and at least 25 DK points both times. His price is finally starting to rise, but he’s still a massive value until he’s above 5k on both sites. Meanwhile, Harrar ($3,700 DK / $4,000 FD) has also started the past two games at center in place of Mike Watkins and he’s been doing just enough to be a solid value as well. The junior has put up 12.5 and 15.8 DK points in 19 and 21 minutes played, respectively, in these two recent starts. He’s not as good of a value play as Lundy right now, but Harrar still has 4x upside at his prices on both sites as long as he continues to start. Penn State will likely stick with both among the starters moving forward because the lineup change helped them beat Ohio State over the weekend and the team is playing much better since.
