QUARTERBACKS

Sam Ehlinger - Texas ($8,200 DK / $10,000 FD)

First off, we definitely want to target this Texas-Texas Tech game for DFS. It involves two defenses that give up a ton of points and yards, and two offenses that can light up the scoreboard. The matchup has one of the highest totals of the slate, and Texas is projected to score the third-most points of anyone today. The Tech defense is giving up 290 passing yards per game, and Ehlinger should take advantage of the matchup. The Texas quarterback is averaging 283 passing yards per game with a 27:9 TD:INT ratio through the first 11 games. He’s proven he can light it up through the air in favorable matchups, and he should do that again this week. Plus, Ehlinger provides some rushing upside as well as he’s racked up 507 rushing yards and five rushing scores this season.

Jett Duffey - Texas Tech ($7,000 DK / $9,100 FD)

On the other side of Ehlinger is a quarterback with another favorable matchup. Texas is also giving up about 290 passing yards per game, and the defense has gotten torched by opposing offenses all season. Duffey has thrown for at least 330 passing yards in each of the last three games and has tossed ten touchdowns in the past four games. This game should be a back-and-forth offensive battle with Duffey and Ehlinger matching each other in passing production. The Tech offense, though, has had to throw a lot more often lately due to a ton of injuries in their backfield. Because of that, Duffey is also running the ball more with 173 rushing yards over the last four games. You can easily game stack this one with both Ehlinger and Duffey in the same lineup to get exposure to both offenses.

Jacob Eason - Washington ($6,600 DK / $8,700 FD)

Although Eason hasn’t been a great DFS option lately, he has one of the best matchups on this slate for quarterbacks. The Washington State defense is allowing 278 passing yards and over 31 points per game this season, and their games are almost always high-scoring battles. The Huskies, meanwhile, have a balanced offense with a strong run game, but this should be a matchup where they throw more often they have recently. Eason has proven he can take advantage of bad passing defenses in the Pac-12 this season, and he’ll look to end conference play on a high note in this rivalry game that’s expected to have one of the slate’s highest totals.

Also Consider:

  • Anthony Gordon - Washington State ($8,700 DK / $10,500 FD)
  • Zac Thomas - Appalachian State ($6,900 DK / $9,000 FD)
  • Max Duggan - TCU ($6,600 DK / $8,500 FD)
  • Jaylon Henderson - Boise State ($6,600 DK / $8,300 FD)

RUNNING BACKS

Darrynton Evans - Appalachian State ($7,200 DK / $9,500 FD)

On a slate without many guarantees in the expensive range of running backs, Evans gives us a perfect DFS marriage of volume on a team projected to score the second-most points on the slate. The matchup is a decent one against a Troy defense giving up 154.5 rushing yards per game, but we can trust Evans’ track record at this price. App State’s lead back has gotten 19 or more touches in six straight games and he’s coming off a game where he racked up 154 rushing yards and three touchdowns last week vs. Texas State. On the season, Evans has 17 total touchdowns in 11 games while averaging 106 rushing yards per outing. He should see a ton of volume yet again with the Mountaineers projected to score 38 points and favored by two scores.

Patrick Taylor Jr. - Memphis ($6,700 DK / $9,000 FD)

It’s been tough to predict what Taylor’s workload would look like in recent games as he returned from a leg injury that kept him out since Week 1, but he may actually be a bargain considering what he did last week. Taylor entered the season as Memphis’ lead back but his lengthy absence has allowed Kenneth Gainwell to be a DFS monster for much of the year. Last weekend, though, Taylor rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries and he actually out-touched his teammate in the backfield. Gainwell was productive himself with 128 rushing yards on 14 carries, but it’s encouraging to see Taylor get the increased usage after he only had five rushes the week before in his first game back. It’s also a good sign that Taylor found the end zone three times (while Gainwell had zero), and was used more in the red zone than his backfield mate. Cincinnati is decent against the run, allowing 133.7 rushing yards per game, but Memphis may rely more on Taylor now that he’s fully healthy and didn’t have any setbacks with his increased workload last game. The price differential is clear on DK and he’s a solid value on that site, especially in GPP’s where his ceiling is as high as any running back on the slate.

George Holani - Boise State ($6,100 DK / $8,700 FD)

Boise State’s lead back has one of the best matchups on the slate and his price does not match the type of performance he could provide. Holani will face a Colorado State defense that’s giving up 205 rushing yards per game with the Broncos favored by two touchdowns, a game script that certainly favors the Boise State rushing game. The freshman is also coming off his best game of the season when he ran for 178 yards and two touchdowns against Utah State last week. It was only his third 100-yard rushing game this season, but he’s slowly taken over the lead rushing duties in this backfield with Robert Mahone dealing with an injury and struggling lately. Holani has gotten 16 or more touches in four of the last five games and he should see a similar workload on Friday with Boise State likely leading in the second half.

Also Consider:

  • Max Borghi - Washington State ($7,900 DK / $9,400 FD)
  • Salvon Ahmed - Washington ($6,700 DK / $8,900 FD)
  • Michael Warren - Cincinnati ($6,700 DK / $8,800 FD)
  • Otis Anderson - Central Florida ($5,600 DK / $8,200 FD)
  • Richard Newton - Washington ($4,800 DK / $7,800 FD)

WIDE RECEIVERS

Devin Duvernay - Texas ($7,700 DK / $9,400 FD)

Duvernay is always in the conversation to be the top wideout any time he’s on the slate, but there’s a lot going for him this week that makes him the clear No. 1 DFS receiver. First off, we should point out Duvernay’s very high floor the last few games with at least eight catches in six straight games coming into this week, and 17 or more DK points in five straight. Next, there’s the fact that he has one of the best matchups on the slate against a Texas Tech defense that’s allowing 290 passing yards per game and has been getting burned by opposing number one pass-catchers all conference season. Finally, Duvernay should see a bump up in targets once again with Collin Johnson out and not many proven receivers in the Texas offense lately. Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger should be looking his way often and that massive target share keeps his DFS floor higher than any other high-priced wide receiver this week.

Hunter Bryant - Washington ($5,100 DK / $7,500 FD)

Bryant has been very consistent this season as is, but now he gets a favorable matchup as one of Washington’s top pass-catchers. The Huskies’ tight end has been one of Jacob Eason’s favorite targets all year and he has at least five catches and 80 receiving yards in three straight games coming into this one. Now he gets to face a Washington State defense that’s allowing 277 passing yards and 31.5 points per game. He’ll get his normal target share with an expectation for much more considering how high-scoring and back-and-forth this game should be. He’s put up at least 13 DK points in three straight but he has the ceiling to 5x this price tag if he finds the end zone, something that could easily happen against a poor Washington State secondary.

RJ Turner - Texas Tech ($5,000 DK / $7,500 FD)

We want shares on both sides of this Texas-Texas Tech game, and Turner presents a nice value to get that exposure. Turner has emerged as Tech’s best receiver lately with T.J. Vasher serving a suspension. Even with Vasher back last week, Turner still had seven catches for 141 yards and a touchdown. It was his second straight game with at least 100 receiving yards and a score and his fourth game in the last six with at least 18 DK points. Now he gets to face a Texas defense allowing nearly 290 passing yards per game as the Longhorns’ secondary has had trouble stopping opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers all season. Stacking Turner with his quarterback, Jett Duffey, is a very affordable way to get exposure to one of the slate’s highest totals.

Kelley Joiner Jr. - South Florida ($3,900 DK / $5,800 FD)

And here’s your free square of the slate! Although he’s listed as a wide receiver on both sites, Joiner will act as the lead running back for USF this week with Jordan Cronkite and Trevon Sands both ruled out. Joiner has actually gotten 13 carries each of the last two games, gaining 72 yards and 113 yards against Cincinnati and Memphis, respectively. It’s almost a no-brainer to lock him into one of your wide receiver spots in all formats because the value opens up so much in your lineups. He’ll face a UCF defense that’s allowing 145.9 rushing yards per game in a matchup with a 63 point total. There’s no denying that Joiner will get the bulk of USF’s rushing workload and he really doesn’t need to do much to return value here. Lock him in, move on and thank your DFS provider for listing him as a wideout.
