GUARDS

Skylar Mays - LSU ($8,600 DK / $8,000 FD)

With Tremont Waters off to the NBA, Skylar Mays has become LSU’s best all-around player this season. Through the first three games, Mays is leading the team in shots share and he’s averaging 19.7 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals per game. Those numbers have allowed him to score at least 35 DK points in every game and that’s a DFS baseline we should expect from him moving forward as one of the team’s leading ball-handlers and the go-to scorer on offense. It’s also very encouraging to see Mays play at least 36 minutes in every game thus far, even against some easier opponents like LSU will have tonight in UMBC, which keeps his floor pretty high compared to other players on this slate.

Anthony Cowan - Maryland ($7,200 DK / $6,400 FD)

It’s weird to see Cowan be the third-most expensive Maryland player on both sites because at some point this year, he’ll likely be priced in the same range as Jalen Smith in the 8-9k range. Cowan is the senior point guard for the Terps, and although he doesn’t score a ton, we are banking on his production across every stat category. He’s averaging 10 combined assists and rebounds per game and is coming off an 11-7-6 stat line last time out. As the team’s lead ball-handler and best distributor, the assists will continue to be there. Plus, Cowan has a knack for rebounds as he regularly hangs around the glass on defense to start fast breaks on the other end.

Marcus Garrett - Kansas ($5,100 DK / $5,200 FD)

Kansas’ rotation is still up in the air with so much talent among their top seven players, but Garrett seems to have locked down a starting role over transfer Isaiah Moss. Through the first three games this season, Garrett leads the team in assist rate and he has the second-highest minutes share behind only Devon Dotson. Coach Bill Self seems content on bringing Moss off the bench right now and it’s allowing Garrett to have a solid DFS floor because of his consistent playing time. The junior averaged 27.6 DK points in Kansas’ two competitive games this year as he logged at least 36 minutes in both outings. He won’t normally score a ton of points, but he’s averaging over eight combined rebounds and assists per game.

Ethan Anderson - USC ($4,700 DK Only)

For those that like to play on FanDuel, it’s a shame you can’t play anyone from this USC-Pepperdine game because it will likely be the highest-scoring game on the slate. On DraftKings, though, we need exposure to these teams and Anderson gives us a nice value path to that. The freshman has bounced between USC’s starting rotation and the bench, but his 47% assist rate is actually the second-best mark in the entire country. That’s really saying something for a guy who is fourth on the team in usage. We’ll likely see Anderson back among the starters tonight after he started the Trojans’ last game vs. Nevada on Saturday. He’s dished out at least seven assists in three of four games this year which has allowed him to put up 23 DK points in those outings. That’s a very good value for this price tag on DK.

Tomas Woldetensae - Virginia ($3,500 DK / $3,800 FD)

Although we normally want to stay from Virginia games for DFS because of their slow pace and lower expectations for fantasy points, Woldetensae presents some nice value at his near-minimum price tag. After sitting out a game last week, Woldetensae was back in Virginia’s starting lineup on Saturday and he responded with five points, six rebounds and 15 DK points, making him an extreme value play on that slate as he 5x-ed his salary. Assuming the junior starts again tonight, we should feel comfortable rostering him in all formats as his very cheap price tag really opens up the rest of your lineup to pay up for more studs.

Other Guards to Consider:

  • Colbey Ross - Pepperdine ($7,500 DK Only)
  • Devon Dotson - Kansas ($7,400 DK /  $7,500 FD)
  • Ryan Woolridge - Gonzaga ($6,700 DK / $6,100 FD)
  • Darryl Morsell - Maryland ($6,000 DK / $5,700 FD)
  • Javonte Smart - LSU ($5,900 DK / $5,100 FD)
  • Daivien Williamson - East Tennessee State ($4,200 DK / $3,900 FD)

FORWARDS

Nick Rakocevic - USC ($8,800 DK Only)

As we mentioned earlier, if you’re playing on DraftKings we definitely want exposure to the USC-Pepperdine game, and Rakocevic is the best player on either side. The 6-foot-11 senior leads the team in offensive usage through the first four games, and he’s a close third in shots share. USC runs the majority of its offense through the bigs down low and Rakocevic has had some massive DFS performances because of that. He’s put up at least 46 DK points in back-to-back games lately thanks to his per-game averages of 25.5 points scored, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 blocks during this recent span. Rakocevic was less-than-stellar in the first two games of the year against cupcake opponents, but he’s seen massive usage in the last two outings and it’s a trend we should expect again tonight.

Filip Petrusev - Gonzaga ($7,600 DK / $7,900 FD)

Gonzaga lost a ton of talent this offseason as Rui Hachimura, Brandon Clarke, and Josh Perkins are all gone. And if you haven’t paid much attention to the Zags this year, you’ll soon learn the name Filip Petrusev. The 6-foot-11 sophomore is the team’s best player right now with Killian Tillie still out with injury, and he’s been a DFS beast in the early goings. Petrusev leads Gonzaga in offensive usage and shots share through the first four games and he’s averaging 18.3 points scored, 9.3 rebounds, two blocks and 36.4 DK points this year. Considering he’s the best DFS option on the team projected to score the most on this slate, Petrusev looks like a nice bargain among the expensive options tonight. He should easily have a double-double tonight as the Zags’ best rebounder and his size is a big advantage against a UT Arlington team that’s undersized in the frontcourt.

Drew Timme - Gonzaga ($5,000 DK / $5,500 FD)

Although Timme comes off the bench for Gonzaga, he’s still very valuable for DFS because of the Zags’ short rotation. The team only plays seven guys regularly and Timme is one of two key reserves for them, playing about 25 minutes per game. The 6-foot-10 freshman big has scored in double-digits in all four games this season and he actually has the third-highest offensive usage and shots share on the team. His consistent role off the bench has allowed him to average 24 DK points this year which would be a very good value if he repeats that tonight at these prices on both sites.

Trendon Watford - LSU ($4,900 DK / $4,400 FD)

It’s odd to see Watford remain a value in DFS, but we should take advantage until his price tag rises on both sites. The former five-star prospect is firmly entrenched in LSU’s starting rotation and he actually leads the team in offensive usage through the first three games. The freshman is still dealing with turnover issues (15 in three games so far), but his involvement on offense should keep his floor relatively high. Watford is pretty much the third scoring option for LSU behind Skylar Mays and Javonte Smart, and he’s averaging 20 DK points thanks to his 12.7 points scored and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Other Forwards to Consider:

  • Jalen Smith - Maryland ($8,400 DK / $7,400 FD)
  • Udoka Azubuike - Kansas ($7,300 DK / $6,300 FD)
  • Kameron Edwards - Pepperdine ($6,500 DK Only)
  • Darius Days - LSU ($6,100 DK / $5,600 FD)
